Back in the early 60s as a high school kid I fell in love with that car. After my 6 year tour in the US Army I was able to buy a nice MK l a 1966 model in 1977. I drove the crap out of that car every chance I got. l loved it. Rebuilt the engine in 1979 and sold the car in 1980. Would love to have it back now.

I live in the States but I would love to own such a car. Way ahead of its time.

First time I saw one of these was in the centre of Manchester in 1971.It set off from a set of traffic lights like a bullet and the noise of a formula one racing car, never heard a sound as good as that on any modern car.

Awesome car. I'd imagine the equivalent to me worshiping a sierra cosworth when I was a school boy when I walked past a moonstone blue 3dr cosworth.

awe, you got to drive a mk 1 Cortina, but factor in that you could implement all 100 of its HP, indicates chassis balance that #3 BMW's dream of, once they hoist that inside front wheel, you are ultimate

The most famous lotus cortina mk1 was Bruce Reynolds he planned great train robbery in his car when police finally caught up with him it was confiscated and put in police compound for many years and when it went to auction I do believe Colin chapman of lotus brought it it only had 3,800 miles on clock but story doesn’t end there it was also first registered lotus cortina mk1 on road
