I just bought a brand new 2022 StarEV Sirius 2+2 with 48V 105AH Lithium battery. I took it out today for a long ride and got 14.8 miles of range after all the green bars were depleted. There were only 2 yellow and 2 red bars remaining on the battery meter. My top and maintained speed was 23mph the whole time. I didn't have my BT Soundbar on or anything else that might drain the battery. I wrote an email to StarEV and will be contacting the dealer on Tues when they're open again. Something just doesn't seem right at all. Even StarEV documentation says I should be getting 30 to 45 miles of range with this battery. Anyone have any idea on what might be happening here?

@kylewoodwon
2 жыл бұрын
@@dgeorge1776 Hi Dave and anyone else who might find this info useful. This is what I've learned through trial and error. I hope it helps you through the learning curve. I try to keep the software updated. I currently run the EXGO_TXT_600A_5kW_Navitas v 8.011 firmware. I also run S55105 settings. I recently switched to it based on your comment and I don't notice any difference to performance or longevity. I generally followed the instructions provided by Navitas. The only other change I make in the settings is in the forward speed limit. I max this out and use the manual control dials to regulate speed/regen/acceleration depending on what I want to accomplish. I picked this up from one of the forums. The idea is to give myself the full range of capabilities in the settings so that I don't have to be looking at my phone as I need to make adjustments depending on how I'm using the cart. Other thoughts: I find that I can go ~30 miles with the dials set to the black lines on the Navitas controller but I recommend testing for yourself so you don't end up in a tough situation. Limiting the speed and acceleration dials seem to prolong battery life a bit. It took a little time to find the right balance. Regen seems to help with breaking. If I'm using higher speeds, I like to increase the Regen to assist in breaking. When I'm in slow speed environments, I find that decreasing the Regen makes for a smoother ride. I also recommend understanding the laws for your state/city as it relates to golf carts. It's a big deal where I live. I personally love having seat belts; they're great for keeping butts on seats. Lastly, I don't think the Big Battery HSKY is the right solution for a golf cart. I love the lithium battery, but I wouldn't buy this one again. I've made them aware of my frustrations. They seem perfectly happy to charge me full price for replacement parts. Here are some of the things I wish I'd known sooner. Big Battery sent me a charger that is not designed for onboard usage. The rattling around while driving caused it to fail. I thought I made it clear that I wanted an on board charger during the sales call but I was unable to prove it. I had to order a new charger at full price. It took 3 weeks to have it delivered. That means I was without my cart for 3 weeks. I had to follow up with them weekly to keep them on track. It was a bit of a hassle. Also, just to be safe, I ordered a charger that is meant to stay on board once it came off of back order. Now I have redundancy. Still, that's about 600 bucks in cost I wasn't anticipating. Additionally, the big battery proprietary plastic cable connectors will melt and fuse together. Make sure you keep them off of the battery and away from heat. These were not covered under warranty. I purchased a new set of cables, but they sent the wrong ones. Then they sent me an adapter instead of the right part. Providing a pleasant customer experience seems to be a low priority for Big Battery.
@dgeorge1776
2 жыл бұрын
@@kylewoodwon Thanks Kyle! My charger also failed after only 4-5 uses last winter. It’s smoked and fried. It was the cheaper 12A charger but they considered it under warranty. So they sent me the upgraded 15A charger that is a metal case and has the external fan. Are you saying that higher amp / beefier charger failed leaving it in the cart or the cheaper one with the plastic case? Also, which cables melted on you? I have 4 gauge wire with anderson connectors going into the battery and back to the controller so I haven’t noticed anything getting hot.
@kylewoodwon
