Vestas must have a lower pay scale, at Invenergy a Tech 2 Level 1 makes $79k, a Tech 3 Level 2 makes $98k. That's without overtime and before taxes. And for those saying it's unskilled labor, it takes about 5 years of on-the-job training to learn everything. These are complex machines. Keep up the good work, Jessica. I'm sure you'll make lead tech some day.

I commend this woman for her hard work and her decision. Can’t dismiss trades. 73K is a solid income. Meanwhile some of us teachers are making 35k-50k a year… with masters degrees. SMH. Keep it up sis. You can tell she cares about providing for her family and doing a good job at work. Invest in your retirement and you’ll be set.

You should move to NJ, NY, CT, or MA. Teachers there can make over 100k less than midway into their career. I don't know why any teacher would settle for less than 50K.

Where do you teach? In Ohio teachers with almost 20 years earn close to $100k…..starting out without a MA and just a teaching license is around $40k.

To all those talking about pay, I lived in that county and it is a very rural area with a very low cost of living. Also Texas has a very low minimum wage. Great story and the wind turbines are very important to Texas energy.

Yes, the turbines are very important to Texas. Without them, they couldn't forage for oil or motive to forage for oil. A turbine uses 700 gallons of oil every 8-16 months, far far from being green 💚.

I make $150k as a non union heavy equipment mechanic with 6 years experience. No college, no trade school. This job is physically hard and you have to be smart. The real money comes when you can troubleshoot anything.

She's making much more than the vast majority of wildland firefighters, my previous work. Way less dangerous than fire. Gets to go home every night. Not sleeping on the ground where you don't bother setting up a tent. Tragedies, trauma. But you get paid in sunsets. I can't believe I did it for so long. I had to fight HR to pay me correctly for my measly increases. Good luck out there.

To the people saying she is underpaid- she’s not. The Minimum wage in Texas is $7.25 an hour. The median income in her rural county is around $20k for a woman- she is making 3.5 times what the average is in her area, she has great insurance and has no college degree. In other states or big cities this wouldn’t work of course but there is does

People commenting that she is underpaid, she is not. If you’ve never been to Bee county, Texas, then it’s hard for you to judge. In that area she is lucky to have that job and be paid that much without a degree. Specially one not related to oil and gas. Her package with all those insurance is closer to $90k which is pretty good. As far as the risk, in that area, without a degree, the next best thing is working on a rig. How is that less risky than just climbing a tower, I don’t know. Maybe the people who do that assessment have never been in an oil rig.

if you had 4 dependents as a single parent you would also pay basically no taxes. 73k for a 1 person household would be more like ~$10k

Don’t be confuse buying the dip in a bear market, with guaranteed future returns. Just because that company is down 60%+ from ATH does NOT make it a sound long-term investment. Make sure you’re investing in great companies. kudos to Sylvia Nicolas

My 25 year old single son with no children makes almost double that with all the benefits as a union heavy equipment operator. Sad to see this as if it’s not still poverty wages in our country today.

I love that you're into your job and have pride in doing a good job... what an example you are setting for your children ... I work in the health field and now what I do reqs a Phd and new 7:10 grads on the average probably only start < 25k but have school debt loans of 8-10x that.... that amount .... yes we have alot of flexibility and demand work for are

It's wonderful she's found a role that suits her and she can provide for her family. However, I am perplexed as to why the ex-husband can 'provide' her a job referral but not assist her with 'providing for' their children (she indicated she's the sole provider for her house). If those are his biological children...that makes no sense.

The real pay for jobs like this is when you move from site to site across the US and you get paid Per Diem and lots of overtime. But you’re away from your family for weeks at a time
