It's really funny seeing someone else actually use this thing. I am the one who made all the mods for the OWO skin except for Superhot, so yes, Beat Saber and Blade and Sorcery are mine. So... Sorry I hurt you? 😬 I think it's a fun accessory to change up your gameplay because you do actually play more carefully since you don't want to get hit. Though I don't think it's the best generalist haptic vest out there as a first purchase into the space. If you want hints on what to play: I did really enjoy my implementations for Alyx and Until You Fall...

It seems all the sounds zap you. Can't it be programmed for impacts on your avatar only?
@FlorianFahrenberger
10 ай бұрын
@@hollywoodguy70 It has nothing to do with sound. It's integrated into the game code. In Blade and Sorcery, it will give you feedback when you are getting hurt in roughly the place you are hit in. In Beat Saber, it triggers when slicing blocks, missing notes, hitting walls and such. There are integrations for VRChat, where it can trigger for avatar interaction, yes, but honestly, most sensations other than pain don't feel amazing, so VRChat is maybe not the ideal application for it.

@@FlorianFahrenberger i’m curious since I’m a software engineer and way way back in the day I taught my youngest Java programming so he could build Minecraft mods… What environments did you build the mods with for this hopefully in a couple days I’m going to an AR meetup and I’ve been looking for a haptic shirt to integrate with my robotic exoskeleton under development, so I’m looking for people with development experience to provide their feedback. (Yes, we really are trying to build a practical Mech.) Thanks! -dave

What haptic vest do you recommend?
@FlorianFahrenberger

@@edzu2771 Bhaptics, no doubt. "Skinetic" feels the best, but has basically no supported games. Bhaptics is just really easy to use, quick to throw on, and has a huge catalog of supported games. I own all the haptics vests, and that's the one I pick up 99% of the time.

its basically tens attachments, they must have great contact with the skin, they basically spasm the muscle, if not they shock you.when shooting the gun, you should feel the muscle in your arm tighten, not a shock. the shirt would need to be extremely tight on a person for all the tens to stay attached correctly.

Okay maybe this is a stupid question, but can this be used with metal jewelry such as a belly button ring or even like a septum ring even though it’s not in direct contact with the suit? The website says not to use with metal implants so I’d think not but I don’t know if there’s a difference between something metal being implanted deeper into your body and something comparatively more superficial like a piercing.

So, when you wear something under it, it takes more power to get the electric circuit to complete. This causes more pain. If you set it up against the skin, it should actually hurt less, if at all. Think of it like a bra, you usually wear something over it ;)
@FlorianFahrenberger
10 ай бұрын
Oh. Just in case someone reads this: No. That's very wrong. Please don't do this. You can calibrate the vest to your liking, adjusting minimal and maximal settings. Even on bare skin, the settings can be turned all the way down, so there is no need to cushion the effect with cloth. On the contrary, if you do the calibration with a shirt underneath and then start sweating or the contact of the gel pads changes all the time, you might get much harsher sensations than you calibrated for. Not to mention that putting them on clothing essentially ruins the gel pads after one use. So: No, don't wear clothes underneath. If you feel self-conscious, you can absolutely wear clothes on top of the OWO skin, that's no problem.
