There can be something extremely therapeutic about still getting toys as a kid. When I graduated and went into the military, my dad made me burn everything I had owned prior. As an adult and out on my own in a new town, new home, etc later on, just setting aside 25 bucks each month to replace some of those old toys was a wonderful way to reconnect with that lost childhood, and a harmless little hobby to help occupy my time while still building up new social circles and support networks in life. Sometimes the simplest things really can be the best of joys. 😊

Not that he wanted them stored, made it VERY clear he didn't want me bothering him or his new family (had remarried and had another child). I'm an older collector so I've been with the franchise since the 80s. Its so great to see such excitement and glee for childhood toys from people that were kids during the later entries. I certainly do like some of the Bayverse designs. Optimus Prime, Bumblebee and The Last Knight's Megatron certainly come to mind but tbh, I think one of the reasons why people like the G1 so much is that the vast cast of characters were not only distinct in design but distinct in character. Beyond the aforementioned Prime, Bumblebee and Megatron, I can't tell the difference between any of the others. They're all just these grey, alien metallic things smashing each other. None of them have any real character beyond the occasionally cringe inducing offensive stereotype.
@sloth210983
Жыл бұрын
@@charlestonjew7587 Sure but thats kind of the difference between 2 hour movies and 100ish episodes I suppose. It also doesn't help that Michael Bay is kind of an idiot. Not that G1 is THAT much better in terms of characterisation, they just have more distinct looks. For propper character writing we really need to be more in the beast wars / animated / prime section of the franchise imho. I like g1 for what it is and love some of the toys but honestly its a rough watch as an adult (aside from the movie) where as bw/animated/prime are still very enjoyable.

Being a kid of the late 80s and early 90s, the transformers that I always wanted were the combiners, specifically Superion, and for some reason or another, Skylinx (and a little bit of Grimlock). I always enjoyed watching Silverbolt kinda captaining the other aerialbots in the cartoon. About 10 years ago when ThinkGeek was still its own entity I jumped on the opportunity to grab one of the updated aerialbots combiner sets. I'm still just casually looking for the right deal on the updated Skylinx, but my only surviving transformer from childhood is my Optimus Prime that I received for my 5th birthday. He doesn't look like much, but it's a reminder of like what you said, how much simpler things were when we were kids. I also love the fact that our own kids know that it's okay if mom or dad decides to buy toys for ourselves and not necessarily for them. 😄 Thank you for reminding me of these little forgotten things that bring us joy.

I've been a Micro Machines collector since I was 5 years old (I'm 39 now and I'm still collecting them) and I remember there used to be a very specific set that I really wanted when I saw it. It was the #36 Shuttle Team from 1995, which contain a space shuttle, the boosters with the external fuel tank, the plane to carry the shuttle, and 3 astronauts. The first time I saw it was in a store back in 1995 when I was a kid. I really wanted it but I couldn't buy it, and since then I couldn't find it anywhere for a very long time. And in 2017, after 22 years, I finally found it and bought it! I was so happy I remember I put some epic music to celebrate it and play like a little kid with my Micro Machines space shuttle, my own childhood dream

Great channel! It’s fun to see I’m not the only kid (I’m 39) buying toys. It’s great to see this since I started buying 2007 toys from the Animated line and even some retro beast wars. Keep it up!

"...when I was a kid, and Dark of the Moon had just come out..." You know in that one Indiana Jones movie, where the guy drinks from the wrong Grail, and ages painfully to dust in the space of about a minute? Yeah, that's me right now.

Watching you so genuinely stoked makes me remember how I felt when I got my Rotf leader Optimus 😃 I can't help remembering you whenever a DotM Ark pops up on offer! Wish you the best, man.

I’m getting chills with your reactions. I love your enthusiasm. Im very happy you got the toy from your childhood. It’s great going back and getting the toys you had or wish you had. Im still going through this process and love every minute of it.

It's fun to see what generations of kids love. I was an 80's kid. So my wants were different. All the hate the movies received from us older guys and their you are loving it as a child, and it following you to adulthood. That's what matters.
