Hyce, the slug does not have independent brakes, it only brakes when using the train brake. To quote AltFuture: "We wanted to include the independent brake initially, but due to the slug lacking the main reservoir, the complications of making this work didn't seem worth it." I am familiar with Wenatchee, WA. The wye is 2 ish hours north in Omak, Wa. on a branch line that primarily ships lumber from BC and Oroville, Wa. lumber mills. The branch line in still on wooden ties and has a speed limit. It makes about 1, sometimes 2 roundtrips to Wenatchee a week.

Wenatchee was the closest "big town" around with a "mall" and it was a 2hr drive for us to get to. Crazy to know that the closest Y for Wenatchee was all the way up in Omak. My cousins live in Wenatchee up above the Columbia River and had a great view of the rail yard there. Brings back fond memories!

Speaking of double-heading, I've read somewhere a funny old story from Russia. (Context: mainline freight locomotives there are usually ran as back-to-back doubles. They often even have a door in the back like between passenger wagons for the crew to go between the coupled locomotives.) So, a double locomotive fresh out of service turns out to barely run. All technicians are trying to figure it out, but nothing works. In odd notches it moves like in first notch, in even notches it doesn't want to go at all. Current readings are where they should be, but the locomotive just doesn't pull. Nobody can find anything wrong. Finally the most experienced guy in the depot comes to work, gets called to check this out, hears the symptoms, immediately opens one of the electric panels, points at one of the switches and yells: "Which idiot set them to pull in the opposite directions?!"

Some interesting back to back took place on the Japanese National railways. Some remote areas didn't have enough room for a Y or a turn table due to being in heavy mountain areas, and even without run arounds. So they would put a steam locomotive on each end facing different directions. An example of this is shown in this video at time stamp 3:23 with what seems to be a JNR class 8600 on both ends. The description says Hanawa Line Akasakata Ryugamori 68622 traction~freight train ~Reverse 8620 traction The Hanawa Line is a local line that connects Morioka on the Tohoku Main Line and Odate on the Ou Main Line. The steep slope of 33.3 per mille (3.33% grade) continues in both directions with the Ryugamori Signal Station as the summit, and freight trains with a high traction constant have auxiliary equipment at the front or rear, and some are operated in triplex, similar to the SL of the 1970s. During the boom period, many SL fans came from all over the country. It was also called "Ryugamori Ginza". Here, a freight train pulled by 68622, with 8620 auxiliary equipment attached to the rear in the opposite direction, climbed a steep slope of 33.3 per mille (3.33% grade) from Akasakata to Ryugamori. kzitem.info/news/bejne/po5j0Yaor2V0io4si=QsPx0EvaD1PFL0yF

Speaking of TM ventilation, in Romania, we have the iconic (to us) LE5100. That's an electric locomotive, made here, under license from ACEA of Sweden. It has 2 3-axle bogies and 6 850 kW motors, making it a 5100 kW beast. It has 6000 HP, which the wiki says translates to 93.000 lbs (412 kN), which I'm not sure what would mean relative to the locos in DV. It takes 27 kV/50 Hz AC from an overhead line, through a catenary and main breaker (both pneumatically actuated), into a huge oil cooled transformer that brings it down to a tame 1.5 kV. Anyway, to get back on topic, it has 3 ventilation groups that get turned on sequentially, and it's just about the loudest thing about this locomotive, or any loco for that matter. You can actually run the loco without ventilation, but only for shunting/low speeds. When on, the ventilation sounds like a choir of angry death eaters, and I love it! There's actually a mod for Train Sim 2022, I think, that adds it to the game, along with routes and scenarios. I'd like to see something like that added to Derail Valley too. As a fun fact, where locos in DV have the independent cylinder pressure and line pressure on one dial and the main res on the other, the LE5100 actually has the independent cylinder pressure on a dial and the rest on another, which I thought was interesting.

XD 49:57 Down the drink! 50:04 Any landing you don't have to swim away from... ^^ 50:26 ROFL :D 51:08 And on that bombshell ends yet another episode of Kadonks & Kenoshas! :D

26:18 ya... this is a really nice game but i still love my hardcore sims also..... . and RUN8 is LITERALLY like a real railroad..... trains spawn in with already tagged cars..... drive it to a yard.... hump it.... sort it..... drive a local to the industry.... drop off cars, pick up emptys/loads.... go back to the yard....... hump the local..... then send it out on a "mainline train" to go off map so it can spawn again with fresh loads . engines can run out of fuel...... have failures (alternator = will last a while, then die..... prime mover fails it stops immediately......., air compressor, DPU communication, dynamic brakes ETC) you can derail now.....from going too fast, or even a string-line (aka, you pull too hard on a curve, train tries to go straight, and flops over) , and the detectors even work..... "hotbox at axle 253..... stop your train!!! stop your train!!!" . RUN8 by far has the best AI ive seen in a train sim..........by FAR!!!! AI driven trains, that blow their horns for crossings (unlike Train Sim classic/world.... something that always broke my immersion) the AI dispatcher will route the UP trains on UP track, BN trains on BN track....... let AMTRAK pass...... ETC trains will even stop and do crew changes, in the crew change location!!! . . and the best thing about RUN8....... TRUE MULTIPLAYER!!!!!!! (can be 100% players, or AI and players) . and you dont have strange draw distance limits if you arnt the host....... it all just works like single player, but with players dispatching and/or driving the trains . . my PERSONAL favorite thing about RUN8...... being able to drive over 900 miles of track with ZERO load screens.......(or even a slight pause as things load in) . thats 3 "maps" all combined into one! (like, at the start it loads all the content in.... but after that, it just loads "chunks" as you go along) and all the AI stuff works.... the AI dispatcher, AI trains using the right tracks, ETC . . . also..... special note the air brake system in RUN8 is EXACTLY like real life......... . ya have to bail off the indy if you set the train brake DPUs will set brakes from the front back, and rear forward you can "bottle the air" and have a runaway or do too quick of a "set-release-set"... causing the main res on the car to not recharge fully.... so you only have like 12 PSI on the brake shoes.... and have a runaway . . . . . . ive been trying to get you to play RUN8 for a while now lol its damn expensive.... to get all the cars and routes...... but its WELL worth it (i dont have every loco and car..but about half of them) . and i know you think it would be boring for the people watching....... but you could do a "this is what REAL railroading is all about" series...... where you drive a train to a hump..... hump it... make a local.... do the local... then come back to the yard maybe AMTRAK will force you to sit and wait, when you could otherwise have priority... or you get a hotbox.... or an engine fails (who knows, its all random chance) . or maybe play some multiplayer.....have a "hump day".... 1 player drives the hump train.... 1 player sorts cars and makes locals..... 1 player runs the locals..... 1 player drives the "feeder" trains to the yard and ya all meet up at the yard..... ya zoom the camera out.... and its just a FLURRY of activity! (which would look cool on video) . . IDK..... at least use your MASSIVE influence in the train sim/game community to help the RUN8 devs out they are a really TINY team..... doing really amazing work . they listen to the community, fix bugs.......... long story short..... they do all the things you would want Devs to do (that so many modern devs dont do) . . . idk..... its the DCS flight sim of train sims/games its REALLY hardcore...... . if ya dont like sitting and hitting the alerter reset for 2 hours straight...... then RUN8 is not for you but it you want air brake systems as close to real life as possible..... or locos that make power/traction exactly like real life (not overpowered AF like in Train sim classic) . . . . . sorry for the entire novel i wrote...... but i really like RUN8 . and the devs do actually deserve more people buying the game again... SUPER small team, but so much heart and soul are in run8 . and its the only train sim i can think of with REAL.....100% fully functional, no draw distance issue or random bugs, ETC....... multiplayer . . . its just a good HARDCORE sim...... and i really think it would be WAY more popular if people even knew it existed (thats one thing the devs are NOT good at.... marketing) . idk.... once they add steam engines.... (with a real player fireman and a real player engineer.....and every valve, flow of steam, shovel of coal, ETC is usable/simulated/modeled) then the game will probably get REALLY popular . but with only SD-40s, dash 9s, ES44dcs and SD-70s......most people want steam (or British locos.... YUCK!!!) . . just think... with more sales.... you could drive a train from coast to coast.... with no loading screens.....and a 250+ player server!!!!!!! . . . . . . ok, for real this time.... im done typing again, sorry for the whole book . but, as you can probably tell, im PASSIONATE about RUN8 simply the best american diesel-electric sim on the market right now

Alt Tru God's: MR. HUBER, Ye had a fever dream last episode and you were unable to get your objective The Slug. Therefore we have decided to clear your mess and reset you so you may obtain said objective. HOWEVER! There's a DEBT to be paid for this episode for allowing such graciousness on our behalf. Therefore Ye shall bin the train into the depths below once the Slug is obtained. Those are our terms MR. Huber what say ye
