Having great battery life, being thin and having an exceptional display in bright light (all thanks to the missing backlight) I take it with me everywhere. The one bit non backlit screen, the crank, form factor and the expetional dev tools all are geared to create novel gaming experiences with interesting constraints while still being accessible. It is expensive and it is great that there are cheaper alternatives for mobile gaming, but I also just so much appreciate that panic puts its (and its customers) money to where it matters. If I want to game at home or in the dark I already have my phone or PC, so I'm glad to have a device that works great where these dont.

I got one from the first batch, and I planned to sell it, but my son was interested so I gave it to him for Christmas last year. The lack of a back light was a deal breaker for me, especially at the cost. Every time I try to use it, the lighting isn't right, and I'm like My God, is the the Gameboy Color? We're in 2023(2022 when released), and this is just not acceptable for a product like this. I understand it was for cost cutting, but needing to play under light is just something I'm not willing to go back to. I would love for them to release an update at some point with a backlit screen, but that would probably be $250 at least, and then price is an issue again. I think it's cool, and the few times I've used it and could see it, I enjoyed myself, but it just has to many issues in this 1st version for a recommendation.

I think most of the games offered are nice as well, it has some really creative offerings. I originally got mine at the starting price of $170 or so, and even at that price, I just couldn't accept what was being offered. $150 for this should have been top dollar, but Panic started producing this at the height of Covid, and parts were high I guess.
