Why is over-limping A♥️2♥️ on the BTN exploitatively correct? You are ahead of the limpers range and way ahead of the blinds. US rake structure makes limped pots unprofitable.

I’m someone who always includes high hands or bonuses in my P/L tracker. You made that money at the table playing poker and it goes in the bankroll. Count it baby!

in my tracking spreadsheet -(I don't have an app, or a cell phone for that matter, I use a small notebook, lol) I keep the promotions in a separate column. that way I can consider the results with or without them, depending on what I am trying to "learn" about my results. same thing with other "promo" stuff like "hot seat" bonuses or splashed pots or Loyalty type rewards where you can earn money based on hours per week or somesuch.

Keep the money in your bankroll but do NOT include it in your winrate. Otherwise, it will give you a false impression about your winrate. Never lie to yourself about you actual winnings, this is how you end up thinking you are doing better than you are.

James, congrats on the "High Hand" and a nice "PROFIT NIGHT!!" Some great points and advice as always. Please keep up the great work!! Even those little subtle points you bring up are SO HUGE!! And also the short stack all-in hand, with so many short stacks, so much of that goes on nightly in these 1/2 games. I second the "pat on the back" for the fold against the oldie goldie!! hehe ;)

Another winning VLOG James. A few comments/questions. 1) Why the donk on the 98cc hand with middle pair OOP? 2) I'm definitely raising the BU with the A2hh hand. One of the biggest problems you encounter at these lower stakes is MW pots with people playing garbage. Any time you get an opportunity to thin the field you really need to take it. A2hh is too strong to limp on the BU. 2) Nice fold in the last hand with AQo against Old Man Coffee. They get tired of Young Whipper Snappers making moves on high hand days, and look forward to teaching you a lesson when they have a big hand.

Was playing 1/2 at a casino card room NYE. Hit my first high hand bonus for $200. I had Js9s in the BB. Flop is A Q Ts, turn is 8s, money goes in on the turn. River: Qs. I stack the guy I was in the hand with for $300. He flopped broadway KJo. I needed to wait 15 minutes for my bonus to hold. Crazy start to the poker new year. :P I ran like god this session and racked up $1350. Can't remember the last time I won that much at 1/2. 😎

I agree with your assessment on the 98cc hand regarding the check behind on the turn. Because it's so short (100BB in 1/2 is nothing like 1/2 online with the oversized bets preflop) you just want to pile in as much money as quickly as possible and checking behind makes no sense for value hands here, especially when all of the draws will continue to call. Then shipping when everything comes in feels weird

Love these blogs man, keep up the awesome work, but only if you enjoy it of course! Question at 16:15 when you say you think the $15 C bet sizing is "going to work a bit better the way this game is playing", what do you mean there? THanks!

Cheers Dana! The game was very predictable so getting a bit of extra money in on the flop just means there's more money to be able to (easily) fight for later in the hand.

James, on the last hand with AQ, I think I would have found the fold button with AQ as well. However, how would you feel with AKo? Without being worried about my opponent having me dominated with AK, I think I would call it off in that spot holding AK.... thoughts?

I'm in the school of thought that high hand bonuses don't count in results/ I understand arguments both ways (it is player funded). But if I hit a $100k bad beat jackpot in 5hr play I don't say I made $20k/hr. Fun blog tho 👍

I hope, i am not to late. You play pretty aggressive (cbetting and 2-barrelling) with your second/third-best hand when headsup. How do you balance your junk? it feels like everytime you dont cbet you have junk. So it seems easy for your opponents to use this info to play you out with a bet. By the way, thx for your great content!

What range did you put villain on in the hand where you called the all-in bet of $40 w/AQo? Is AQo a favorite vs that range, considering the rake probably takes most/all of the overlay out of the pot?
@noex100

At 1/2 it's gotta be a rec playing 20BB's, so probably 55+, A9+, KJ+. AQ is flipping or dominating at least 90% of the time.

I know those chips! I had no idea you played at Orange City!! I'm Alex (or Runner Runner Poker by my vlog name!) and I run a poker vlog out of their other location, the room in Daytona. I just wanted to firstly say thank you. Thank you for being such a fountain of knowledge and inspiration. I found your channel about 3 years ago when I first started playing poker and learned so many foundational concepts that helped shape me into the player I am today. I've recommended your videos to so many of my friends when I was coming up in the game and focused on studying. That said, I hope I get the chance to see you sometime around! You should absolutely try out the Daytona location too if you're in the area, the 2/5 in Daytona is much better than it is at OC (from personal experience!) and would be honored to even collab!

I've just noticed that you look at your cards before its your turn to act, are you not worried about tells? My tip would be for you to look at everyone else while they look at their cards as sometimes you can pick up some small pieces of info, for example some people actually have their cards ready to muck pre flop. I know you have way more poker knowledge than me, but I really think it's something you should try out and you may agree with me that it also gives you the ability to think and play the hand naturally without to much premeditation.

Does the high hand bonus still hit if your MP folds the over bet? If you had known that your hand was going to get high hand before would you still overbet that? Or would you even consider checking to make sure you get a showdown.
@alanevans7451

Not James, but normally you don't need to win at showdown to win the High Hand though usually you need to have a minimum of $10 in the pot. Often times you also need to play both cards, but not always.
