@carlray4809 The B-52 never had props. You're probably thinking of the Convair B-36 which was the last US propeller driven strategic bomber. You could also be thinking of the Russian Tupolev TU-95 which first flew a few months after the B-52.

I am used to your storey telling videos...but this exploration one is quite awesome and gone beyond anyone's imagination...just think of walking down an unchartered path in a desert, camp by the side of an abandoned airforce bomber-plane, sleep at the shadow of its wings, crack open eggs and cook breakfast on the bomber's wings, sit down in the shadow of its tail wing and enjoy the breakfast....other than those fighter pilots and airmen, probably you would be the only person to have cracked eggs and cooked food on the wings of an airforce plance....it is almost insane...a big thumbs up to you...what i love in your videos is the scarry stuff coupled with history....👍

Very cool. The aircraft was cut up that way to adhere to treaty agreements with the Soviet Union, just like the deactivated bombers at the aircraft graveyard in Tucson (Davis-Monthan AFB). The one you visited here had been transferred from its wartime command -- Strategic Air Command -- to the Air Force Systems Command, a research branch of the Air Force.

🇬🇧 I love the old aircraft despite their being instrumental during war time, and machines of destruction, they are still amazing pieces of engineering & awe. In Britain we had a B52 equivalent in the Lancaster Bomber or as it was termed, The Flying Fortress! I've been up into the cockpit of one of these behemoths, I was only about 7 or 8 yrs old at the time but was totally swept away by these huge War Birds. Seeing them fly over was something to see, you never forget the sheer size of them & the noise is deafening! I'd hate to be on the ground during the war & hearing the Lancaster coming over .. it must have been terrifying. At the Imperial War Museum they have a fully restored & beautifully maintained Lancaster with an enormous hanger all to itself! War is dreadful in any places or time but there's something about Aircraft That's compelling The B-52s were Amazing machines Cheers !

I stood next to a B52 D at Duxford imperial war museum here in the UK. I've never felt such awe- I couldn't see how it ever took off! I think it's the only time my grandson had been struck silent! Even getting on the Concorde there didn't impress him like the B52 Stratofortress; Why on earth were these planes just dumped in the desert like trash?

You must be near Edwards AFB. I was in the Air Force in SAC and worked around B-52's that were on alert at about 25 bases across the country during the Cold War. The B-52 is still assigned to 2 bases today. Minot AFB, North Dakota and in Louisiana at Barksdale AFB. The Vietnamese feared the Bomber because when the bombs were dropped it was like ROLLING THUNDER.... MRE's were developed in the 80's or early 90's When I was in the Air Force in the 70's we had C-rations in cans. Much of these rations were surplus WW-2 or Korean War vintage. The B-58 Hustler was a medium bomber in the sixties and deactivated in the 70s.

27:15 That symbol was the patch worn by pilots at Chuck Yeager's test pilot school at Edwards Air Force Base. My cousin, an Air Force captain, attended there during the 60's and gave me one of those patches. The Latin phrase means (roughly) "Toward the Unexplored." That's a whole lot of aluminum scrap sitting out there on the dry lake. Probably worth some serious bucks. Stay safe out there.
