That TV is like a treasure trove! Awesome find! =D And on the other hand, I despised folks cutting the cord out of the TV thinking it is scrap. =(

It's pretty cool for the most part. It's common, but shouldn't be hard to fix.

Shit, I haven't seen one of those since the early 2000s at a thrift store. Classics like those vanished rapidly around that time period, unless you were in a nursing home. Those were usually the last strong hold of old TVs in nursing homes. Glad to hear from you.

Most of the tvs at the nursing home i work at are crts. mostly 90s and 2000s televisions. A few crts can decode the digital signals, but we have an it rack that pulls 22 channels off satellite and sends them throughout the building on analog cable. The early 2010s flat screens are the ones that are breaking mostly.

I was still seeing a couple like this around 2008, but yea they were disappearing fast after 2009. I was still seeing some as late as 2013-2014, but after that not so much at all anymore. These old TVs have always been pretty fascinating imo. Thanks man. Been so busy I've had no time for anything other than work.

Do you have a video where you show how to replace a cut cord?
@TheCRTman
10 ай бұрын
I don't, but I watched one about 10 years ago on youtube I think with a 1985 hitachi TV. It's actually a pretty easy fix. You buy a new cord, strip it down to the black & white cables, and then solder them to the board.
