I once just duct taped the outside of the ball, and then cut the panels and flattened the duct tape as much as possible, if you put too much tape you can barely see the seams between panels, but it's pretty simple otherwise

reverse engineering a ball is such a neat idea! when it comes to the issue of the panels not lying flat i can offer a suggestion from the knowledge of plushie- and fursuit-making: which is to cover your model (the football panel) in a layer of masking/painter's tape (as small pieces as possible to avoid wrinkling) and then peel the tape off as a big piece and stick it to a sheet of paper, and there's your pattern piece! naturally it'll likely still need some adjustment, but it could potentially save some time

A pleasant surprise to hear you're helping people learn ball-making, I've got 2 pairs of my old cleats sitting in my closet and I want to reuse them into a ball like you did with the Adidas Predator 92 piece ball. As always great video!

Such an interesting insight into this ball. My favorite over the years was the 16/17 premier league Nike Ordem 4 with the interplay of pentagons and hexagons. Thanks for documenting and sharing your passion and insight!

Can you make a "Solid object of constant width Reuleaux Triangle" ball? It's a 3D triangular wheel. They occur in other shapes, like pentagonal too

Awesome video that more people need to see. Such a cool creation and amount of work is impressive. Wish I had seen it before the WC, wouldve have a good nugget for the pub to make me sound cool.

Looks like that ball is based on a icosidodecahedon. Each regular pentagon has been merged with one equilateral triangle that surrounds it. Nice design though.

The Fevernova was a truncated icosahedron like all the WC ball from 1970 to 2002. It had been the last truncated icosahedron ball used in a WC.

@@somedude2808 well with mini it wouldn’t be to scale and match balls and 40$ balls are way different if he wanted to make a exact copy he would use the ones they use in matches and I get what you say but in the end it’s his money
