@@COCOGROCOSHOW Yea, they would never put in that museum that all started after Yugoslavian army already withdraw from Croatia after agreement between Tuđman and Milošević "to keep it peacfully", and that there was no need for war at all because negotiation process was already started. But instead to resolve it on table, the moment Yugoslavian army withdrew, Croatians tryed to ethnicly clean Dalmatia of Serbs -- as usual, under patronage of "international peacekeepers" -- so in the end you got a bloody civil war, with lot of irregular units on both sides, that ended in Blokade of Dubrovnik and smashing Old Town... So I am not surprized at all that so called musem has not any facts or explanation in it, because "we went a little nazi, AGAIN, and tried to genocide Serbs, AGAIN", although negotiation process already strarted, sure would not look nice... Funny enough, Ivana is very popular name in Croatia :) If you are visiting Dubrovnik, I would suggest you get yourself Dubrovnik card - 1 day pass gives you city wall entrance, as well for most of the museums and 24h ticket for public buses for the same price of the city walls entrance. Homeland war museum (not included in Dubrovnik pass) is on the Imperial fortress above Dubrovnik, there is cable car going up, and the view from the hill is also spectacular. The beaches in Dubrovnik and around are mostly rocky/pebble beaches, but some islands north of Dubrovnik have sandy beaches, most popular being Šunj beach on Lopud island, about hour boat ride from Dubrovnik. The sea can get very warm - usually in summer time (mid June till September) it is 23-27 degrees Celsius. May and October varies from year to year. This (2024.) we had a late start of the summer.

Croatia is wonderful...amazing! Now, when you see cevap with ajvar, you're not eating it right and it is not local food for that place/country. So, cevap originally is Bosnia and Hercegovina thing. Can have it in Serbia as well, though pljeskavica would be the more Serbian thing. Typically you eat it with sliced fresh onions, smoked dried red paprika (called bukovec and usually hot spicey), lepinja (sort of a smaller freshly baked white bread) and maybe kajmak. Ajvar you typically eat with fresh baked white bread and white cheese (best if it is sheep milk cheese and not the feta kind). Typically Ajvar is Macedonian and Serbian food, but, like the cevap, it made it's way throughout ex YU states long time ago. During Yugoslavia times, the population in the (then) republics was rather mixed and some foods like cevapi, pljeskavica, ajvar, burek, sarma etc got to every corner of the country. I don't recall cevapi being served with ajvar in any of the former republics at the time. Perhaps it's a new thing. Anyways, anyone in B&H, or Serbia see you put ajvar on a cevap will be at least slightly grossed and wondering what's wrong with you :D

In the attack on Dubrovnik in 1991 and 1992, out of 824 buildings in the historic core (old town), 594 were damaged, with a total area of 192,338 square meters, of which 382 were residential, 19 religious and 10 public, while the rest of the buildings had their roofs damaged. In the wartime destruction of the historic center of Dubrovnik, 72 percent of the city's buildings were damaged, nine of which were completely burned, while the roofs of four others were partially burned. Please, you are from Croatia, but don't write that minor damages were suffered, because that is not true. Gelato is simply the Italian translation for ice cream. There‘s no difference there. 😂🤣 When it‘s used in other countries they are trying to imply some fanciness to it, but it‘s still just ice cream in all its variations. Burrata is a Mozzarella type of cheese filled with stracciatella di bufala (fresh cheese made from buffalo milk) and cream. In good Pizza places, it is very commonly used to top your Pizza, but of course it is put there only after baking so it still has its texture. What the fork are you doing to your poor fries? Vinegar, seriously? 🙄🙈🙈🙈 Ever heard of a thing called ketchup? I know there‘s also vinegar in it, but still: No! No! No! Also no mayonnaise and other stuff that doesn‘t fit. No, there‘s one reason ketchup was invented and that is to come as a match made in heaven together with fries!

I'm glad you liked it in Croatia, just try to get more cultural context before posting something. Term 'Balkans' is considered derogatory in the entire region, especially in Central / Southeast Europe where Croatia is located, as it was often used pejoratively by Western countries to depict the region as uncivilized and politically chaotic. So it's like putting a title: "I found my favorite US city stolen from Native Americans (NEW YORK)"... While it may be factually accurate, it is still not appropriate wording. Especially when you can say European or Mediterranean or anything similar that doesn't carry the same connotation.

Derogatory? Well, it certainly brings some associations to one's head, but it is not derogatory. When you hear Mexico, you can think of drug cartels, or you can think of mariachi.

Not derogatory. Croatia is a balkan-country. We need to change this thing viewing Balkan as something bad. It was bad because of the serbs.

geographically it is. thing is that "balkan" for balkan people is more of political term or something that describes behavior of the people as primitive rather than geographical area.
@alexhorvath9277

@@spatrk6634 As a geographical concept, the Balkans do not exist as a peninsula because the area commonly referred to as the Balkan Peninsula does not meet the geographical criteria for a peninsula. The term “Balkan” as a geographical name is primarily found in Bulgaria, where a mountain carries that name. Therefore, the Balkan is essentially a mountain in Bulgaria. The political concept of the Balkans, coined by the German Johann August Zeune in 1808, refers to countries that were once under Turkish rule. Hence, Slovenia and Croatia are often (and justifiably) excluded from this description because, religiously and historically, they do not belong there, having been part of the Habsburg Monarchy. Consequently, the Standing Committee on Geographical Names has classified Slovenia and Croatia as part of Central Europe.

Cevapi and burek as well as otter kind of pita are best in Sarajevo. Dubrovnik has a great sea food and pasta. Grill is the best in Serbia. Probably south Serbia. Why Croatia wanted to separate? They were always highly nationalistic since WW II.. That you can’t learn there.
@majaharbig5326

That is not true. Croatian are not highly nationalistic. Your statement say more about you then about people of Croatia. Kingdom of Jugoslavia and Jugoslavia were states made by contract, so historically we were separate states before agreement . People were not happy with Jugoslavia In 1990, Slovenia and Croatia decided to made their own national states again.and separate from Jugoslavia. Serbs came with tenks, soldiers and start to kill our citizens. From 1990-1995 I was almost five times killed., my house was completely destroyed...so when I see statement like this it makes me very angry.

@@majaharbig5326 Sorry, but not only you’ve suffered. Thousands have suffered. Facts are facts. Look up Croatia between 1929-1945, then talk. Not all Croatians are like that of course, but nationalistic flare was always present. Croatia and Slovenia did not have a good reason to leave. They were living the best lives of all republics in ex YU. That is also a fact. Them leaving does not justify war of course, especially Balkan slaughterhouse wars. It is much more complicated than this but there is no space or time for any meaningful discussion here. 🍉☮✌

@@erikb2358 Rising nationalism is what I am referring too. The confederal model was initially accepted by all the republics. Slovenia was 50/50 to stay. Croatia was just pretending. They brought all their nationalist, some ex fascist people back to the country, initiated old ustasa insignias, start to change the language and normalised all of it. Tudjman has famously said in the speech before anything started, that he was happy his mother is not Jewish nor Serbian. Milosevis was an autocratic cretin and they could have dealt with him if there was a will to keep YU together. Also Germany and others were too quick to recognise the separatist republics. The pressure should have been put on negotiations and agreements, what ever outcome there would have been - the continuous remodelled union or a separation. Well, all these wars were for nothing. All the deaths and destruction for nothing. They will be in the same union without borders again. This time the EU. This was also one of the solutions back then in 1990’. A quick path into EU.

the point is that the Balkans is a political term, so when talking about Croatia it is not good to use expressions like Balkan or to call Croats Balkans because the vast majority of Croats do not consider themselves Balkans and Croats have an aversion to these narratives🙂

Bombing of Dubrovnik was wrong and horrible but what is NICE in the CIVIL WAR ???? They also never gonna say civil war ,they like to say "Serbian agression" but truth is that those provinces decide to separete from Yugoslavia and start terrorizing Serbian population there . If Serbia (I hope they will) opens museums about Croat and Muslim attrocities in that War woulb be 10 times more horible to see .

I am visiting Dubrovnik regularly with my daughter, with car, my daughter in December with her boyfriend... so i don't have any problem. But, during one of my visit with daughter, walking on city walls, saw a turist guide who was talking to Japanese turist that - Serbs engage Chausescu Securitate to kill people on Stradun with snipers. (?!?) What a stupid lie. Yugoslavia had best educated sniper soldiers, no need for Securitate. Even at this movie i saw one more lie. In the museum (time 16:55) is shown photo from Split, concentration camp Lora, but for Serbs, not for Croats. So, both sides lie, and that needs to stop asap.
