Nothing of “book value” really... I specialize in class one through five Pyrobilia....The stuff with value starts at the DOT era then ICC then class 3,2,1 etc...99% of the valuable stuff is going to be either pre-70s era fire cracker packs and salute boxes ..Although , the rarity is not always determined by age but by what’s left out there...now there are cases where a 50-year-old item has less value than a 10-year-old item because there’s a lot of that particular 50-year-old item still out there but not the 10-year-old item(simple supply and demand)... not to say there’s not a market for everything but a majority of the valuable collectible Pyro items are always going to be fire cracker packs and salute boxes now you get to stuff that’s 70+ years old then some thing as simple as a one shot mortar could be worth $500 but those are far and few in between for that age ...I’ve been collecting almost 4 decades since I was a kid ... I go to all the auctions have contributed w pyro publications price guides etc...etc. etc. get with me anytime Tom@TDMerchantConsulting.com ......PYRO ON!! Always been a fan of your videos since the beginning

Are you A.K..A. 'Mr. Black Cat'? I remember buying lots of pre '70s stuff in the early 90s, lots of Keystone, Rozzi single shots, a couple packs of crackers from the 1890s and a rocket heading from the 1850s (bamboo guide stick is missing unfortunately). Lots of the 90s stuff isn't worth much as far as cash goes, but it sure is fun to light off and enjoy. That store is a total throwback to what all pyro shops used to be like - focusing on the 'smalls'. I absolutely LOVE the variety that smalls provide and the packaging gives a bit of mystery to what the product does, which can leave a person guessing until the moment the fuse is lit..unlike most of the cakes and items of today that pretty much describe all the effects. Kinda like trying to watch a movie when the guy next to you has seen it before and blabs out the ending - a bit of a downer. I live in central Montana and would like to know where this store is - have been trying to hunt down some older 'smalls' to enjoy!

B. Thompson that’s honestly what I do with class five and six it’s all pretty much fun stuff to burn unless of course it’s my last of something.... and I’ve had many a pseudonym over the years on everything from the major auction sites we all know and love down to the private ones .....LOL I’m a bit more reclusive and selective on the collectors scene for the last decade or so ...Too much arguing and bs in the collectors community these days unfortunately & it takes the fun out wen you see the guys in their 70s and 80s arguing like nine-year-olds ....I love to shoot I love to collect I love anything and everything Pyro related and Patriotic LOL....Like they say Alcohol Tobacco Firearms should be the name of a convenience store not a federal agency lol! Im in the Midwest myself not far from Montana not exactly close. Chicagoland Northwest Indiana area

I totally agree! In fact tye same way with public forums. I enjoy shooting the old stuff off as much or probably more than collecting. Quit really collecting about 8 years ago as that immature mentality you speak of seems rampant amongst not just some of the 70-80 year olds but also the newer generation. LOVE the class 4 thru early 5 stuff to shoot off but like yourself, end up lighting fuses sparingly like drinking a fine wine that's not so readily available anymore. I remember buying bricks early thunderbombs and other brands in the late 90s thru 2008 or so for the sole intention of shooting them off since crimped crackers were going extinct. They were cheap and plentiful then and never expected this insane draw of shelling out several hundred dollars for a dopey Thunderbomb brick. The collecting, "my stash is bigger than your stash" crowd has completely driven me out from buying anything DOT and earlier anymore since the inflated prices are so absurd. I've often thought that this stuff is meant to be enjoyed and not hung on a wall to stare at, with exception of the few rare items. But man, even those you can't take it to the grave with you, lol!

@18:50 Those are called *JUMBO SUNFLOWERS* not "Uniflowers". Originally manufactured by Link Triad. They are helicopters that go up and hover - producing a sunflower effect. You have a box of the original sized ones there too @19:30. Very popular item in the late 70's. The large ones came out in the early 80's. Make sure you replace the rubber bands on those *"Twisting Tornado"* helicopters. [They hold the wings in place] The fuse should be facing down towards the ground when you light them. @20:07 Yes, it does produce a small American flag on a little flag pole made out of paper that expands like a paper Chinese yo-yo. The little things on the side spin around like tiny pinwheels. I don't recall much of a fountain effect, but it's a very unique pyro novelty just the same. The West Lake rockets came out in 1984-85. Shot & sold lots of them back then. Have fun burning that stuff. I'll be looking forward to the footage. 👍

@@b.thompson9176 Thank you for the kind words. My friends in Missouri had an entire barn loft full of old vintage class "C". I was in town for the 4th of July that year and we all went up there and picked out a bunch of crazy stuff to shoot on the 5th at a private barbecue. The Green Hornet helicopter you're referring to had a broken wing - which is why I was so surprised that it performed so well. I have lots of footage featuring vintage stuff that has yet to be uploaded. I just got kinda lazy and uninspired to publish any of it. *Stay Safe!*

Especially the clustering bees, when it would explode HIGH in the air- it really looked like bees swarming all over the place. And don’t get me started with jumping jacks. ONE jumping jack from back in the day is like a ground bloom flower from today. I have 5 packs of the original jumping jacks. One I opened up to compare and the other 4 I will never open (unless I get my hands on more or a brick). I am a fireworks addict from the past and it’s sad to see how some are today.

^This has to be one of the best stores you been in ,i am 51 years old some of the names in there were epic, west lake Triad brand rockets, the old sunflowers, hoarse brand fireworks, flying geese, cluster bees, lol. There are a few of these gems left out there where people dont know these names ,its just fireworks to them. My favorite were the old hoarse brand "Air Travel bottle rockets"red tissue paper blue or red lettering with a bottle rocket coming out of a bottle and a young kid lighting it ,they were packaged perfectly moon travelers were from back in the day i even seen the factory there still made in and its the only firework made at this company, nice catch Cody love this stuff.

I think you may have come across a ghost store. Check back there and it will be mysteriously gone. Like those urban legends of stopping by in a town and getting help out by some old man in a strange country store then you find out it that place doesn't exist any more. Some of those things from the 90's definitely hit my nostalgia button!

Let me tell you - I’m almost 50 years old and that brand sunflowers and wild geese rockets are the best ever production wise. Today’s brands-They are so weak now it’s almost not even worth buying. I used to get a 12 pack of wild geese, cluster bees, tiger tickets and I believe pearl rockets and they were great- flew high, big explosions of colors, loud, etc. now they barely go as high as a normal tree, and explode with pretty much nothing. Late 70”s to the late 80’s can’t be beat in ANYTHING.

The Silvery fountains were a mainstay of the Safe and Sane (sigh) collection here in California in those days. I was hoping you'd run into a Quake: The Big One fountain. Those were the largest and priciest finale fountains available here in CA througout the 80's and early 90's. They cost $14.99 apiece lol. Anyone else remember those?

The Westlake Rockets were really big in the '80s, and same with the black box artillery shells. A lot of that stuff looks like its from the 1985-1990 timeframe. I was buying a lot of these items in the mid-80's so they could be that old. Also, I think the store you are at might be the replacement for the one that was there in the early '80's which was a Black Cat store. Right across the highway from Wall Drug.
