Oh wow. I always gave Austin, TX credit for the slacker lifestyle, but these comments make me realize the whole country was shopping at Goodwill. I guess we were the output of 70s vintage nostalgia + 90s grunge + Captain Planet anti-consumerism. We rode our bikes and recycled and avoiding buying new... We were good kids!

As awful as the trends were, one good thing about the early 2000's was that young girls were allowed to look like young girls. They weren't growing up so fast or feeling pressured into looking like sexy 20 year old "Insta baddies" with perfect tans, skin, and winged liner like girls are nowadays.

Omg yes !!!. I am pretty sure some of my friends did the whole camo thing then a pair of cat boots or Timberland boots. Also those weird like parachute pants. you're missing the body glitter, but out of a roll on thing that probably smelled like "strawberries". you're missing the clear sparkly elastics that were hell to get out of hair. also the denim skirt over jeans was the worst thing to ever happen. i love the early 2000s and 90s, mainly because I dabbled more in the rock section of that store, and only saw some pop.
