I really enjoy watching different people's journey into the vanlife/cargotrailerlife community. Just when I think I've seen all the possible variations on features and design, someone surprises me. Alway inspirational, though. Although we're not full-timers, I was inspired to add off-grid features to our trailer used for teaching scuba diving, and it's been a great learning experience and fun to actually use. I look forward to see your progress! Please share your thought process as you make different feature and design choices during your build! The "why" is often as interesting and helpful as the "how".

Your stepdad seems great!! And will be a great source of information and teaching! Beautiful porch (lanai) and love the plants. Consider looking at a paint sprayer, not overly expensive to buy a basic homeowner version, and could probably rent one as well. That would speed up the interior paint and save your fingers from the spray cans!!😜 Looking forward to your build!!

Hi Elisa viewing your channel for first time , saw the van build . Congrads on taking this on . There will be days when you question your sanity but keep at it , you can do it and sense of accomplishment will far exceed the stress . Currently on my fifth RV . Rebuild upgrade everything myself , so learned what not to do . Mistakes are part of the learning curve , it happens to all of us . Like your thoughts of no AC , two fans are smart . Put them as far apart as possible so one on reverse other on forward will pull max amount of air through . Spend as much as you can afford on the best insulation possible . Be certain to cover every sq inch , nooks , crannies . Spray foam in a can gets in the hard to reach spots . Doing this helps to eliminate condensation as well . Don`t waste time and money on installing solar panels etc . Far better to spend money on lithium batteries and a charging system that enables your alternator to charge them while you are driving . It feels good to know the fuel you must buy is also charging your lithiums . You have a great adventure ahead . Best of luck -- Robert

I appreciate your confidence and independence, as stepping out of our "comfort zone" can be challenging and scary, but so rewarding from an individual perspective. These are the things that help us discover what we are capable of even if our conscious minds say "what if I can't" Kudos to you. As you mentioned, take your time as YOU control the outcome. The journey is 1/2 the reward. And once you get it dialed in, the real reward is that personal fulfillment of what YOU created. Do your thing girl!

@@netsirk.88 my girlfriend got comments from so many gay and bi women that she intentionally does not share she had a girlfriend at one point. She stated "women are just as bad as guys". If someone is attractive to someone else, people of all walks might comment/compliment. I'd say Matthew's comment is a compliment and the woman might actually like that compliment, same as my girlfriend enjoys appreciation she isn't all inked up. On the flip side, she believes in "to each his own", which also applies to females LOL. Don't expect all people to be the same, ya know? Don't let it bother you. Congrats on the "new" van. The Promaster was our original want. We then moved onto the Transit because of the 4x4. We have now settled on the hybrid Sienna because of the climate control. As you figured out, trying to get an air system in the van is tough. Uses a lot of power. Solar is a hobby of mine and I still think it's tough trying to have a capable air system in there. Problem for us is trying to find a new Sienna is impossible without paying for markups. Looking forward to seeing the van build out.

Glad to see another person who wants to enjoy traveling. Ive built several vans now and started off with a Chevy astro van. Which had several *Mile 0* stickers on it lol. I had a coleman air mattress and camping gear in three good sized totes. When i got itchy feet id finish the jobs i had scheduled and hit the road for a few weeks. Having that experience is what convinced me that this type of lifestyle was suited for me. I purchased two full sized vans and did the interiors. Keep in mind, i am a contractor and also do boat refits. So that combination really helped me with design and building. The latest is a one ton hightop im currently working on. In addition to that. Ill be leaving the great lakes region soon and heading for warmer weather. Im looking for the perfect sail boat to set up for cruising. My van will be more or less my shore home and go getter while im at the marina. But anything you are trying to figure out i and a lot of other people would be more than happy to give you any advice on. Its not too difficult if you just have the drive and patience to work things out. Theres no "perfect" anything for everyone. You make it your perfect for you. Although there will be a few things that will require some creative thinking. But don't let that scare you. When i did my first van build i had plenty of people saying its nuts and, who would do that? Buy a motor home like everyone else does. Theres places you just can't take a motorhome and as a solo traveler. I just didn't want or need that much vehicle. Again, your perfect. And now look, thats become a huge phenomenon globally. So my point is, this is your dream and your life. What we take when its all over is our memories. We only kick this rock once, give it hell. In your later years you will be talking with friends who guaranteed will say, "i just wish i would have." And you can smile and say i don't have a single thing i wish i did. Theres a few i could have done again but I had other things to do yet. So with that, i welcome you to a community who understands that call. And we're happy to help. But please, wear some PPE. that stuff is nasty. See already some good advice.

Elisa, so many things I want to say after seeing this video. First, so good to see you and congratulations on the new purchase. I have to admit, I for one am looking forward to you building the van out and after watching you work through how you wanted the SUV to function I'm confident the van will turn out amazing. You mentioned one of the pro's of doing the conversion yourself was the cost savings which is true but I feel building it out yourself also gives you a complete understanding of the systems and knowing how to fix should one fail. As far as having to put out content I'm conflicted. Of course we would love to see what you're up to all the time but I also feel it would take away from the quality of what brought us here in the first place. Great to see you again and looking forward to the next one
