The audio is really good, don't worry about that! Wow, that must have been a hard lesson for you; it sucks that it ended up shooting that guy's dreams of Japan down enough for him to quit the whole KZitem game and all, but I think all the dealing with the darker sides of fame might also have come into play. Being in the public eye is quite taxing and not everybody is well equipped to deal with that, especially for a prolonged period of time . Don't blame yourself too harshly; you made amends in the best way you could and the fact that you are taking responsibility for your past acts is quite commendable and inspiring. Keep up your good work and remember that everyone is a fallible human being and that admitting your faults and trying to correct the problematic situations in whatever way you can is already better than denying them or remaining idle. As always, I appreciate you being so open and honest about everything with us.

man i remember the quickrhino drama. i think he had a really funny video about ramen that i liked. the old jvlog drama scene was so spicy 10ish years back. so glad that it's not so prevalent anymore; for a while it was like the lifeblood of the jvlog community, and huge amounts of videos were solely focused on drama instead of, you know, the reason people got into it in the first place - video blogging about japan def suggest looking at something like a rode wireless go ii lav mic kit, super good wireless mic, on board memory, lightweight, clip onto your shirt or pants, built in mic but can add a wired lavalier to it, and not too expensive. can probably find in akihabara somewhere, but for sure on amazon. have used it myself, score it 10/10 and two thumbs up recommend. have a good time at the ryokan!

@@unrested the rode kit comes in 2 different versions, a 2 transmitter and 1 receiver set, and a 1 and 1 set. for your needs prob only need a 1 and 1 kit, maybe 150 bucks tops. there's a company called smallrig who makes a lot of camera accessories - my whole rig is their stuff other than my fujifilm gear - and they have a very similar lav mic system that's similarly priced. you'd get a lot of use out of something like that versus a bigger condenser or vocal mic, especially during travel. way easier to lug around since it fits in a pocket. looking forward to see what you're up to over there man. take care of yourself!

I was one that helped fund him, but I remember it being a bit different than just a regular go fund me. I bought a "sight unseen" t-shirt, that I did end up getting but it was kinda junkyard, but on point with his comic sort of style. It was a plain white shirt with a little logo about the size of a US quarter that said "+10 cool points" on the center of the chest. I do remember this whole situation though. Crazy times.

Funny how this video got into my recommended(your videos almost never do). I was a student back then and I remember not particularly liking my life; feeling kinda jaded and fed up in general. I watched a lot of videos from jvloggers including yours and QuickRhino's, and they kind of filled some sort of desire for change and novelty. Watching people talk about their different experiences in a radically different place really helped me somehow. I was pretty bummed out when all this went down so I remember this quite well. I can't quite recall the timelime exactly but I remember that around this time he had spoken in a video about being diagnosed with bipolar disorder and felt really bad knowing he wasn't going to take this well. I don't remember if this was actually before or after you had responded to him though. I do remember though that before he cancelled his plans, he had made a list of Jvloggers he'd wanted to meet up with, which included you. Primarily though, I definitely think it was mostly a matter of unfortunate circumstances and poor planning on his part as well. What you did, didn't help but it didn't make any difference in him being able to come to Japan and following through with his plans, ultimately; just an unfortunate sad short chapter in the Jvlogging community.

Wow, I hadn't thought about this for a long time. It was a while ago so my memory isn't crystal clear, but unfortunately I think I was one of those people who sort of was against him. As I recall it, it was two things that made me think that it was something fishy about his actions. Firstly, I think he had been to Japan before for a homestay or something similar, and he often mentioned his homestay family in his videos and that they still were in contact. So why didn't he go anyway and visit them since he had the money for the trip? I don't think the backers would have minded that, since it could have lead to some nice videos. Secondly, if I remember correctly, he posted a video, either just before or soon after his cancelation of the trip, of him visiting a casino. Not a good look at all when we knew that he had gotten a hold of a lot of money from the Gofund me thing, and also canceled the trip the money was supposed to go to. I have to highlight, though, that this is just what I thought then. Now, in hindsight, I don't think it was anything malicious going on. For some reason or another his host family might not have been available at the time, and the casino visit was probably just an unfortunate coincidence. Your thoughts in this video about the whole mess is probably more or less what happened.

I was really hoping he would find another way. 6 months was a hella long wait. But back then if you weren’t working to make money to get to Japan it wasn’t going to be easy at all. Even with JET you needed like 3k in the bank. I was a med student then and I was working thinking maybe I could pay med school tuition and have money left over to go to Japan on JET for a year. And then he just gave up. I gave up too I guess. Got a million excuses. Like you came to nova in the most shitty of situations. I was one of those guys who unsubscribe back in the day on that video, which was deserved. QuickRhino overreacted with no comments and deleting his videos eventually - absolutely but the entire conversation was: QuickRhino stole the money: he will not refund it. And there was never ANY evidence to suggest as such and it was complete slander. So yeah from there on I remember Unrested as the guy who falsely accused QuickRhino and made him leave KZitem. (especially because over the years sometimes I wanted to rewatch some videos I remembered and I couldnt...) Some people just react worse to things so QuickRhino only carries like 1% of the blame. (But I assume QuickRhino got a ton of hatemail calling him a scammer and fraud etc, so... it's somewhat understandable to not take it well) But... you can get swept up if everyone calls someone a scammer - probably happens today more than ever with drama videos.
