The fact that this is who millions of women are seeking guidance from (per some of the comments) Is frightening. This is a perfect example of how this story could be flipped around and made out that the man took advantage of her when she was vulnerable. Except, she willingly went to stay with a STRANGER, Didn’t speak up when she felt uncomfortable but yet made a whole public video about the encounter to millions of people. And the same women that are feeling so bad, do you tell your daughters “stay in a situation you are uncomfortable in” or do we all tell our children if you feel uncomfortable GO. Did you expect him to be able to tell you were uncomfortable and tell you to go home? You came out there to see him and had s*x on your own free will. If I was him I’d have no idea you were uncomfortable lol.

Just a note for the girlies with vaginas - HPV affects 80% of sexually active women (and 90% of men), and it is *impossible* for men to get an accurate test for HPV, so it is incredibly easy to spread. Most women do not know they have it and have no symptoms (which is the case with most STDs), but it can show up in an abnormal pap smear and of course lead to cervical cancer, infertility, etc. (which is why it's so important to keep up with your pap smears every year!). I cannot stress this enough, IT IS NOTHING TO BE ASHAMED ABOUT. There is a high likelihood that you were vaccinated for HPV as a child (especially if you got all the other common vaccines). This vaccine only really covers the most dangerous strains, so HPV is still incredibly common, especially in yours 20s. There is a lot of shame and stigma around contracting STDs, which is why so many of them (especially HPV) are misunderstood. I know this because I had a similar experience as Alex that resulted in a colposcopy that was (thank god) benign. It is incredibly stressful and scary, and it's unfair that we have to deal with this. I was lucky enough to have a doctor who really spent time with me and educated me on all the facts. She expressed her own personal frustrations about how uninformed people are about sexual health and it's because it's been such a taboo topic since the dawn of time. Side note: She even said that having HPV isn't something that I am obligated to disclose to future (male) partners (however, if you are sexually active with other women it is probably something you should disclose), because it often leads to anxiety and shame that is unfounded and unnecessary. Obviously this is just a suggestion and it is always better to be open and transparent, especially when you see a future with a person, but if you decide to disclose something like this it is SO so so important to be educated on the topic so you can also educate your partner(s). Also, if your partner is expressing any judgment about your diagnosis, leave them. That is a red flag. Thank you Alex for sharing your story!!! This is such an important topic and it's so great that people are finally talking about it. I don't want to invalidate your trauma because it is 100% founded, but I also don't want people who watch/listen this to spiral. Lastly, ladies: Get tested often, get your regular pap smears/well woman exam, find a doctor you like and trust (I have a great rec in Brooklyn!), and be gentle with yourself and your partner/future partners. 💖 P.S. It is literally impossible to know who gave you HPV because it can be dormant in your body for years. It's likely that this asshole catfish had HPV and potentially spread it, but you could you have also gotten it from any other sexual partners. And male partners have no way of knowing. ANYWAY, I'm just a common bitch who lived most of her 20s as a horny girl in NYC/LA. Do what you want, but don't judge yourself/slut-shame yourself, ever.
@Daydreamerr13
Ай бұрын
I do not agree with this laize faire attitude toward High Risk HPV at all. This is a serious STD that remains dormant in your body for the rest of your life, and the research currently is unclear why some people’s bodies immune suppress it for life, while others do not. It is incredibly irresponsible that Alex basically just admitted she was not disclosing her positive HPV status to her now husband. Just because doctors tell us we don’t “really” have to disclose hpv because it is so ubiquitous does not make it morally or ethically okay to sleep with anyone and not tell them you are positive for hpv. Everyone’s body will react differently to this virus, whether they are vaccinated or not. There is no guarantee. So, to treat it so cavalier the way a lot of women, OB’s do- really aggravates me. This shit is serious as fuck. And, you can have clear paps for decades, get pregnant, or have a stressful event and it pops up. And no, i do not believe in that 80% stat that ppl throw around to normalize it.

Women have to be perfect in situations where they’re manipulated or taken advantage of otherwise it’s always her fault not the man’s. The focus should be on what the man did wrong. Imagine Alex is your sister, daughter, mother, cousin, friend, etc, would you treat them the way you’re treating Alex? If the answer is yes I truly feel bad for any person who’s shame and blame you out upon them wrongfully. Seek self reflection and betterment, not just for you but for the people you are hurting.

I'd say they're both at fault. I understand she had a bad experience and the guy was being scummy, but she did something stupid too and could've been more careful. The most effective way to avoid situations like this is to take matters into your own hands be careful with who you sleep with. You can't make bad men like these guys completely disappear, so the most effective thing you can do is be careful with who you sleep with. And to answer you if Alex was a loved one who had this happen to her, I'd definately feel sorry for her, but I'd tell her she should use this asa learning experience of why you've gotta be careful and look out for yourself, especially around situations like these.

And as far as getting an STD, thank you for normalizing talking about sexual health and STDs. I was in an 8 year relationship and my cheating partner gave me one. It can happen to anyone and regardless of the circumstances, there shouldn’t be shame involved. You are doing a great job of giving yourself grace. I care so much about helping girls view a life for themselves that is true happiness, I hate seeing/hearing the demeaning and belittling for self ); it hurts my heart .. I've been there; I have empathy and relate ... learning to be in control will allow you to set boundaries for yourself and to which don't allow someone else or yourself to cross those boundaries... once you have a experience with gaining the power of that feeling for not allowing the boundary unnoticed or abused you will feel an emotion that shows how much power you have within and as you continue to gain more strength you'll see the worth as now true and the true value of worthiness is one so inspiring and validated within... you will never feel "someone else's feelings of being uncomfortable" should ever ever come first before your own inner moral and belief and worth and comfort... self love should always come first... and if you're in a place in life where you feel you won't have ability to control the actions for yourself; maybe wait to travel far to meet someone you don't know... the choices you make for yourself are of your own control and the choices you make directly relate to the emotions you live life with!! Worth is a huge emotion that will give your life beauty!!! I did not realize that so many Quakers and Puritans watched KZitem until I read the comments. While I think that the vast majority of comments are from people who watched some or all of this KZitem clip, it is doubtful that many watched the entire podcast which is more than an hour in length available only on Spotify. True, she did not make the best decisions, but they are the type of decisions that millions of girls in her generation have made. But, unlike Alex, they typically do not talk about it which is something she encourages near the end of the podcast. Sure, she could have just kept all of this to herself but that is not what she is about and never has been. The reason she has been so successful is that she is not afraid to talk about any topic at all and is completely transparent and speaks the truth even when it hurts. Based on the size of her following (she has the number-one rated female podcast on Spotify; ~4M followers) there are likely hundreds of thousands of women who she has helped gain understanding and insight into issues, emotions and experiences that are part of everyone's life. For all the Amish and Mennonite out there, what you are uncomfortable with is that women are not "supposed to" not only act like that but also not talk about it, although more than likely, they are okay with men talking about, and probably even do some back-slapping accolades in response. Sorry you don't like female enlightenment but you should probably get used to it because it is about time that women have frank discussions amongst themselves. The difference between Alex and all those other conversations is that she was brave enough to open up about her mistakes in order to help other women avoid them or at least think twice. She's made it OK for women to open up, and not walk alone.

~Hi, Hello, bonjour and enchantée, DearAlex. I'm Bea. I definitely don't understand why some people (attention seeking type, perhaps ?), so,why these persons spend their time "catfishing" other people around . . . !?? I have listened & talked (I'm a psychoanalyst / against pills) to a lot of humans, but I don't recall having met with that kind of "catfishing person", at all. Interesting though... So, there's that ----------- I had a special professional request about your podcast. Would you allow me to send you a private message regarding podcats in general ? Thank you very much in advance. Kind regards, Bea (LB.G) 💓 🎶 ❤

Shame on the guy for doing the catfishing, but once you are there and you realize he's not who he claimed to be, it's on you. You are no longer being catfished.

This podcast is disgusting. Seek Jesus. Jesus answered, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me." -John 14:6

Why not go get a hotel in another area if Paris? Enjoy and catch a flight when you ready to leave. You didn’t have to hangout with that man if he made you uncomfortable. She a sexy worker.

1 month old clip, 56k views, and 443 likes (at this time)... Makes me REALLY miss the dislike number because I think I know what the ratio would look like. Aaaaand the comment section didn't disappoint.
