Exactly, the sound of a little prop plane at 150 feet would wake the whole village up as I mentioned, you've probably heard police helicopters flying low when chasing criminals or doing exercises, and yes their engines are usually gas turbine and noisier, but 150ft is a height that would disturb hundreds of households and now with social media and smartphones being endemic, it's strange that the person who complained didn't have backup witnesses or evidence of his own to back up his libellious accusations!!

If, after investigation, their accusation is found to be false, then the complainant should be fined for wasting Govt. time - in the same way as in Police cases. Hi Noel. I had exactly the same thing happen. I took a neighbour over our village so he could spot his house. 10 minutes after landing I had an email from the owner of the club saying he’d had a resident ranting and raving in his ear. Apparently I’d been ‘zooming low over his house’, ‘recklessly endangering…….’. Etc etc. in this instance it was handy that the guy had been cc’d in on the request to explain myself. I simply sent back the SkyDemon debriefing pack for the flight which showed I had been no lower than 2,000ft. As it turns out I knew who the guy was. He couldn’t look me in the eye next time I saw him……. Tosser. Keep up the good work and the great videos. Cheers, TC 😎

They talked to the guy who hired the C172 and phoned me back to thank me for educating their customers and for taking this route, and not the official one (which in my eyes is ratting a fellow aviator out, whilst he just may have forgotten to keep track of his altitude).

There are all sorts of people who will get pissed off by the most normal thing, to try and keep everyone happy would mean to stay at home and do nothing. I've been working at the same job in Italy for 5 years now, never got a single complaint or report in my pigeon hole at work, whilst in the UK I used to be targeted by ridiculous claims every month or so. Not surprising considering how on every block and bus I used to find a solicitors office ad haha. Reminds me of a friends mother who used to sit in her garden in Hampton and take pictures of any plane on its way to Heathrow which she deemed was too noisy. She then wrote to the airline to complain and had a filing cabinet full of letters from the airlines. This was back in the 1970's so with the DC8's, 707's and Concorde being amongst the nosiest she was kept busy. :-)

So she may have been, in part, at fault for British European Airways Flight 548?

I had a similar thing when flying over a town at 1500ft last year, but not reported to CAA. Instead they sent a zoomed-in pixelated photo to the flying club as proof I was flying “low”. Thank goodness for FlightRadar to give some clarity... 😂

I work round there pass that airport regularly, you a local? I ask this and have read on your website about your travels during covid, regular testing etc, but don't you feel unsafe, any concerns? I love travelling, not the most confident flyer turbulence does make me anxious , maybe a video one now to calm the nerves.

Hah, that's pretty much where my mother lives, and she's always complaining about low flying planes... Complaining to me, not the CAA! I haven't flown for 15 years (as of 16th Feb, in fact) and you're seriously making me want to get my PPL back!

Ignoring the ludicrous complaint completely; you're so lucky that your daughter can enjoy going along for the ride.....my 2 girls wont even get on the back of my motorbike for a trip around the car park where I live :)

I know how you feel. I went gliding (microlite) at Dunstable Downs and received a phone call from the CAA because I went slightly off course.

In my experience as a FISO and ATCO, the general public are awful at guessing how high a light aircraft is. I've taken a lot of noise complaints in the control tower where I work, and they normally amount to people who stray into their garden a couple of times a year, never realizing how often light aircraft fly overhead from the other side of their double glazing, wanting to have a moan.

There's always one. I might have a play with my ADSB reciever and see if I can get it to log the data as kml files or something. At a few thousand feet that covers from east mids up to sheffield.

Hi Noel, keep up the flying, what are you using to log your flights

(possible duplicate, message disapoeared). While the clup treated you professionally upon seeing your log, if this were to get to a court, would there be a way to prove autnenticity of your log? (if you had opportunity to edit the .GPX file, you could have falsified the alttude readings for instance). Or are the logs tamper proof? If upon landing, police connected to your plane and downlaoded the log themselves, they they cab vouch for its accuracy, but if you hand the log yourself after the complaint has been lodged, someone could argue that it was tanmpered with. Would the club download the logs after efery rental? (at which point they would become trusted source of info) ?

Who confuses a plane at 2000ft for being at 150ft. Someone was clearly having a bad day. Keep up the videos I love the private flying stuff 👍👍

Well I hope that the CAA charged the guy with the complaint over the time they wasted and forwarded that bill to him!

I know for a fact Ofcom do exactly that when people report interference and it turns out there's no issue apart from their tv antenna is dropping to bits or something. It's not cheap to have them come and investigate
