@junipark8101
20 күн бұрын
Absolutely, for me it's barely any money, the extra money would help them a lot more than it would do for me. Edit: I'm not talking about getting scammed, the price is not fixed and the vendors tell you a higher price it's up to you to bargain it down, it makes sense for people who get paid in local currency or in the similar socioeconomic state as the vendor to haggle the price to meet their price range and the vendor might lower it because they want to make a sale but for us folks who get paid in expensive currencies or have good salary it's just pathetic to haggle over cents and couple dollars with a poor vendor. It's not about getting scammed bc your foreigner even rich locals prefer being generous and making some poor person's day rather than saving themselves a little spare change. Now if the price is fixed and they're charging you different that's discrimination.

Naw..it depends on where you go too. As a former Kathmanduite, I was paying 150-300 NPR for alcoholic and non alcoholic drinks in 2010s. There are ridiculously expensive places, more than the US, where locals spend crazy lol

Well the difference is that in America the McDonald's worker has their own car and a proper spacious apartment or house to live in, with heating, running water and electricity, lots of electric appliances. Where you're eating this stuff, none of the workers have their own car and often their homes are just tin sheds with no running water. They barely get by.

Please tell me when we all just agreed that spending $23 for 2 full course meals is overpriced? Whoever said that needs their mouth sewn shut like yesterday. Seriously.

No it is overpriced its just that our money isnt worth as much from inflation so for example a big mac here is like $10 while there its cheaper because there their money is worth more while our money isnt worth as much so if i went there their id basically be rich but here just poor

Its very interesting when we look at it from the lens of USD, it looks soo cheap. But then when i look at it in my own country's currency, i think i would cry at those prices

buying power of currencies plays a huge role in how these prices are perceived. USD is a very valuable currency hence why to westerners all this food would be hella cheap. for locals though the amount they get paid would make these prices pretty difficult to afford

ngl most of the foods that come later on are relatively ok-ish in prices the first one that is puri tarkari might be one of those from the facy restaurants prices for the same foods differ between establishments

lol same thing happened to me in Morocco. The food was so cheap and delicious. I didn’t really care though. Paid like double the price but only paid like US$30 so still felt like I came out on top.

They charge extra for tourist perhaps? It's quite common in touristy places to be more expensive than normal

This is because the currency is Indian rupees If the value was changed to meet the US dollar standards, it'd be similar to getting into Saltbae's restaurant

CHEF TYLER!!! I MADE MY FIRST GRILLED CHEESE SANDWICH!!!!!! I made it with two honey wheat bread, smeared butter on both sandwiches, and flipped it. Then I put two slices of American cheese on the bread, and but the two bread together. I proceeded to use spatula tongs to flip the sandwich on a stove, and at one point, it turned into a brownish gold cheese sandwich. I burned myself twice, and I did this at eleven! If you read this, tysm!!!!!

Cracks me up when food influencers go to places like India and are like "What?! I paid 23¢ instead of 10¢?!" When back home they would have paid literally like 800% more for the same
