I love these vintage old Nitro helicopters as they are far more affordable than new ones and rough around the edges for old school guys like me. According to Websters, Vintage means well built or of a good lasting design, representing the high quality of a past time: not Old! I got this one on Ebay complete with one of the most reliable radios made. I made a few modifications and took it out for 3 flights. I hope you enjoy seeing the results. Thanks for watching,

I bought one in the 80,s from new when they came out first and only flew around in circles....i still have it in my attic and am now going to put it together again. I now have electric helis and with help from flight simulators can fly some 3d so will be interesting to have a go with this old fellow again and see what its like. The electric modern helis are so solid in the air and their tails never move..

Coo to see you flying these older helicopters, this is the kind of flying I aspire to being able to do, nice and smooth. I’m not really that interested in the 3D stuff, after about 20 seconds of seeing people chucking them around all over the place I’m bored of it but I do like this. Well, I would suggest you get someone to help you with this helicopter that is experienced. One of the things about nitro helis, is the engine has to run perfectly,and it takes a fine ear to tune them on a heli. That said, I use OS #8 plugs and Torco 15% Nitro in all my nitro helis. www.torconitro.com Hope that helps. Good luck.

Hi Night flyer! Buddy i have a mess. I've recently put another SR together, with a Super Tigre G34H. My question to you or any of your friends... The carb was a real mess. When i disassembled it, the idle needle was stuck in the spray bar!!! Now, if i turn the idle screw all the way in, should it cut off the fuel completely? I'm thinking it should, and if i remember, it should bottom out and come back the quarter turn. Thanks again buddy, and good flying!!
@johnprice9456

I repaired the idle needle screw, but I'm afraid i taped it into the screw a bit too much 🧐
@NightFlyyer

Best way is heat the whole carb with a heat gun. The needle will easily come out. Screwing all the way in shuts off the fuel.
@johnprice9456
Жыл бұрын
Thanks brother, I had soaked the carb, but the idle mixture needle had actually stuck inside the spray tube, and left the adjustment screw inside the outer housing. I can repair the needle assembly by tapping the needle gently back into the base of the screw, so if it's correct in saying that if I bottomed out that screw with the carburetor barrel all the way shut, I should not be able to blow any air through the carburetor fuel inlet. It's either that, or find out the overall length of the needle assembly. LOL I could just buy one.

@NightFlyyer

I have Zeal 550 blades on mine. I had to cut the tips off to 500, so they did not hit the tail rotor and balanced them. Many symmetrical blades can work. If the hole is damaged or sloppy, I doubt that the blade will fly apart, but tracking will be difficult if too sloppy. I would replace the blades. Also check Ebay for stock blades.
