I think she was just upset because everyone was telling her to stick to pop. Doja always said she was a rapper. But her past 2 albums she wasn’t taken serious as a rapper she really enjoys rap.

In an interview I heard on the radio, she sounded like she has more of a passion for hip hop than pop, but I also heard her say that she wanted to take a step back and spend more time with her family. The Paint the Town Red song almost sounds like her change of heart: “…. I said what I said, I’d rather be famous instead.”

It worked because I NEVER listened to Doja Cat until now, Scarlet is my FIRST album and music I've ever listened to by her. Had me questioning like wtf I been because I'm always on the dopest artists and music before they hit mainstream and now I know, it was the genre but don't it twisted, I love all music. But this genre of Doja I prefer.

Literally same. I didn’t give a fuck about Doja Cat before the Scarlet era. I’ve never listened to any of her previous albums & the songs I heard before never interested me. It took a while for me to warm up to Attention, but I loved Paint the Town Red right away. Her newest album Scarlet is really good.

This album is sick. I was fortunate to score floor tickets to see this tour in Atlanta; I live in Naples, FL. Her programming was solid and she sang, I believe, every song from this album. I love this album as much as I love Beyoncé’s Renaissance. I recently found your channel. I enjoy watching your music analysis. Happy holidays.

doja’s case is so nuanced to me. i think that the controversies with those chat rooms got to her, so now she feels mad at the public for putting her on blast. i think thats why she wanted to completely get away from the image of “pop”. she cut her hair, started getting tattoos. too me it seems like shes completely rejecting the genre bc of what happened to her while she was considered in the genre. especially because before the controversies, she was never a petty bitch when it came to her fans.

I think over performing of her previous hits made her hate her old songs. It happens a lot with artists. I think "creep" is one of thosw songs that the band refuses to play at concerts because of how tired they got with it Also, doja was been a troll from fhe start. Never take her too seriously Lastly, the controversy started because people were asking questions about the person she's dating. I think there arw charges against him. She hatea that people keep meddling with her private life and lashed out. Whether people want to continue listening to her or quit is up to personal preference.

It feels like so many mainstream female pop and R&B artists, at some point in their career, always have this defiant and unapologetic 'fuck the world' or rebel era -- it's safe to say that Scarlet is Doja's. They tend to show a more authentic, uncut, and controversial side of them and I love it -- they wanna prove themselves, break the mold, or defy the norm. We've seen this time and time again with artists like Rihanna, Beyoncé, Taylor, Miley, Ariana, and many more. Despite my feelings towards her social media antics, I respect it and I think Scarlet is authentically Doja. Paint The Town Red, Agora Hills, and Attention are all among my top favorites from the album funnily enough lol.

Doja never cared about being boxed in from day 1. They tried to box her in but they couldn't. Reminds me of what they tried to do with Janet Jackson. She's just too much of herself, you can't typecast her sound.

She is fine the way she is! That's why people are attracted to her music. Cause she is different. There have been way too many nickis and remys and cardis ...they all sound the same. I would much rather listen to doja than those women. sorry not sorry. She needs to understand that she doesn't need to prove anything. The people you keep around you matter. Maybe the people around her are not good for her. Change your circle girl! P.S....I don't care about fighting with you. take your beef elsewhere.....thanks and good bye.

And I thought some of the rap was good ofc but to this day I still strongly believe “rules” is her best rap song I was hoping a song on this album was gonna be able to top that song but honestly nothing did. Still though some good rap on this album f the girls, ouchies, wym freestyle, paint the town red, agora hills, skull and bones, and balut stood the most out to me

Don’t want to make assumptions but I’d recommend watching some vidoes explaining this and hopfully spreading this information so we have less IGNORANT ppl because I do believe u have contributed to Olivia Rodrigo receiving a ton of hate recently and in the past when she was 17
