What a story of survival. You should be very proud of yourself. You have been through alot of loss, change, and confusion and you seem to have turned out with a good head on your shoulders. Yes I understand you may have had some issues but you have turned into a responsible individual and I commend you for that. I am very proud of where you are today, the love and concern you show others and care you and Nicollet have for each other. Thank you for sharing. Proud of you both.❤

WoW Brian!! You have the best attitude. The system is very very broken here in Canada too. Founded in drug/alcohol abuse and genocide of indigenous people, it creates more of that. I was a foster kid and I have profound ptsd from lack of care. Thanks for sharing and good luck with the upcoming surgery and how it impacts you too. Please take really good care of yourself especially today after sharing this impactful part of your life. Cheering you both on!

Brian, you’re correct about being in a point in your life where you can make changes for the better. I’m many years older than you and I’ve observed that people who get well into their 30’s without striving to improve their life skills seldom make much progress. Also, as a person who tries to keep my mind open to the world, I cannot stress enough how important therapy is. Even though you are on the road, there are services that can help you find therapists who work on Zoom. You have a brave heart and you deserve the help that eluded you as a child. Be well, be careful, stay brave!

WOW! I always thought you were amazing and now I think you are an amazing Superhero! Thank you for sharing your story. It gives hope to so many less fortunate people who have struggled and didn't achieve half what you have. I fostered kids for years and it was so rewarding helping them. It wasn't through the system it was children of friends of mine who, for whatever reason, could not continue caring for them so I stepped in... 5 times with a total of 6 kids but not at the same time. My compensation was that they were loved and cared for and when things turned around for their parents, they went back home. My situation was a bit different because I knew these kids and had a relationship with them before whereas you were placed in a complete strangers care. Respect and admiration and again, Thank you!

Brian, thank you for sharing your story. Even though your start in life was rocky (to say the least) you have allowed yourself to be a man any mother would be proud to call her own. My husband and I had three children and a happy, stable home. We chose to become foster parents …. A safe place until children could be adopted. All of our foster children had been in homes where addiction was prevalent. The foster care program in our country is broken. It is sad that so many children get “lost” in it. Hopefully one day that will change. I am so happy that you and Nicolette found each other. You complement each other beautifully. Life is hard. It is so important to work to be well physically, mentally and spiritually. I see you both working (and succeeding) at that. You both are a beautiful brilliant light - sharing your story and inspiring us all. Blessings and Love to you both 🙏♥️🙏♥️

Hi I can relate to you 100% but Being taken away at the age of 13 after going to the police for child abuse I wasn’t lucky enough to get a foster. They said nobody wanted a 13-year-old with problems so I end up going into. Juvenile detention where you’re locked up like a common criminal. I am 67 years old and yes, I do have trust issues. Commitment issues and I could go on and on, but I commend you I was left with some deep scars to the point where I have a mental block from certain age to a certain age as psych psychiatrist said is there to protect me so I commend you for being the caring loving person you are Jacky from Montreal

You might look into the enneagram. I think you're an enneagram type 3 with a "wing" to type 4. You have a strong sense of self-worth and a very professional attitude. It's the same subtype as Tom Cruise - for instance. Nicholette is harder to type. I sense a perfectionist streak in her. She might be a type 1 with a wing to type 2. That subtype has a lot of integrity and is very caring. And things have to be done just the right way to please her.
My heart goes out to you Brian, but i want to prace you so so very much and say that you have become a werry werry good and loving and responsible and carrying man, and you can be werry werry proud of hou you have become. Thank you for sharing your story . It’s hard to find the words my heart breaks for all the children in the system you all are constantly in our thoughts and prayers. You are loved, and valued by God. He sees you , He cares for you and as He says He is near to the broken hearted and He is a Father to the Fatherless. God loves you so much that He came down to earth and to take our punishment, He was mocked tortured crucified , but He gloriously rose on the third day conquering death so that we can have eternal life through Him, through Jesus our God and Savior of the World. In Him in life , healing , peace that is not found in this world . He did not come to judge the world but that the world through Him might be saved (John 3:17) He loves you , I never comment on KZitem but the Lord put it on my heart to share His love for you with you . I pray you read this and most importantly you turn to the one true God for He desires a relationship with you . Praying for you both , May the Lord bless and protect you both and heal Nicolette in Jesus name

I thought America was the dominant one with addictions because from what I have read most other countries don’t allow promotions of prescription drugs on commercials and seem to care more. I could definitely be wrong about that though and I only have experience with addiction through my parents and what I see in America so I could have said that differently - you are right.
