So Terry, whats a good prefab home builder in the mid-west? I'm looking for 400-800sqft, simple, turnkey, weather resistant and under $60K. I just want to set it down on an acre or two of rural property near a small town and live my sunset years out in peace and quiet. LMK, if I buy I'll let them know you referred me. Thanks, love the channel.

These are great looking options, especially the lotto home. One thing we've noticed in recent years is the lack of builders for traditional homes. This is impacting the sale of lots as it can take two to three years to get a contractor on site. Do the home builders you feature have site prep services (septic /well /foundation) as well as needed subs to accelerate the process if buying a prefab? That would be a huge advantage in our area.

Love your Vids!!! I do have a question with regards to repairs on light gauge steel homes. In the event of a fire, flooding etc. what can you expect from a company (etc. Servpro/local contractor) that will go in and perform repairs on your home? Most construction and hence contractors deal with wood framed homes. How does one expect a local contractor to come in and repair your home in the event of one of these disasters?

These are definitely much nicer. The one aspect of all these prefabs, regardless, is still the over abundance of sequential large windows. Sure, they look nice in model and presentation. And theoretically, the concept of more view more natural light is always enticing. However, in reality, very few locations (parcels of land) will accommodate. The great design challenge is actually to have just enough windows at just the right places. Solid walls for entire facade - either rear or side or both rear and one side - will fit many more locations. Will do wonders. All homes need a prominent Entry and one boring facade.
@Kaylin_h
Жыл бұрын
@KH C Don't u feel if you preferred not to have those windows, it could easily be modified to instead just build in the space w your choice of wall or etc? It might lessen the price, but it's usually not that complicated to remove window(s). Now the cabin window doors are actually doors, but still seems modifying them could be an option -of course anything can usually be done for a price.

6 months??????? Prefabricated houses can be assembled in 5-10 days top and finishes + doors, pipes can't take more than one more week. That's the advantage of a PRE-fabricated house. It's already made in advance!!!! That company must be extremely lazy.

The designs are not bad, but the time line is way too long. Any builder could build this on site faster. I believe factory built houses are the future but until I can walk in a showroom, sit down and design a house in a couple hours, sign the paperwork and maybe 30 days later they give me the keys it's not viable. I believe it will come, and these small startups are the pioneers. It's exciting and maybe it will scale up exponentially. Probably not in my lifetime but it will happen. The housing industry is stuck in the mud building the same thing they built 30 years ago. Let's get some fresh ideas going! Just my humble opinion from an old nail banger. Haha

@@KerryTarnow When I look at KB Homes and the rest, they are mostly prefabricating single family homes in their factories and delivered in parts to the building site. I don't see too much difference these days between a Modular home and a conventional one. I had a track of homes built behind my house that ticked me off but that is another story. What amazed me was that it too them 3 to 4 days to complete a 1300 square foot home. It was like clock work how they pieced it together. I don't see too much difference between a modular home and a conventional one.
