My original motivation for starting my coin collection a year ago was to get as many monarchs as I could. I have all back to George II so far plus Anne and Charles II. Those Charles II you had were gorgeous by the way! Along with the Double florin, young George II, Anne’s, James I and of course the incredible Henry II. All awesome. Also you should consider getting a colonial Edward VIII coin. Some countries like Fiji made coins with his name on them, but since they are holed coins they didn’t have to wait a year for a portrait to come out, so they made many of them and are cheap. I highly recommend getting one to complete the collection!

I agree, a UNC Fiji penny of E8 costs around $20 here, the New Guinea one about the same. I don't have the African coins, but they don't cost much more and apparently an Indian state or two did and E8 coin too.

Awesome collection!! I've been sporadically filling in a collection I started of having a coin from every monarch. Ideally I'd like to go back as far as Æthelstan, however my earliest is Henry II. So far I've got 31 of the 45 monarchs to William the Conqueror (excluding Lady Jane Grey due to her extremely short reign). I do have a sterling silver 'fantasy' Australian shilling for Edward VIII which I've also included. I wonder what history each coin as seen and the hands they've passed through. One of the most interesting, verified stories behind a coin in my collection is my 1696 William III shilling that was recovered from the wreck of the HMS Association, which sank in 1707. The coin has survived pretty well without my wear as it was under a canon. The canon landed on the coin during the sinking (or in the decay since) and has slightly deformed the coin from being perfectly round.

That is a great selection guys, the Henry II and John pennies are amazing. My own range is everyone back to Elizabeth I (Except Commonwealth, but they were not monarchs). I also have Edward VI, Henry VIII, Henry VI, Edward I to III. So that makes 25/40. I actually have a poster showing all the monarchs on a coin from Alfred onwards and have ticked off each one as I get it. I also have New Guinea and Fiji pennies of Edward 8, these only have cyphers not portraits.

Best thing now, os most missing monarchs are Medieval or early Renaissance and apart from Mary who has the range from shilling down to farthing, the others are all groats at most and Henry III backwards, just pennies. I know H7 have shillings, but his shillings are very expensive and when I get a coin of his, it will likely be a groat or a penny.
