What a beautiful rendition and mix of this familiar song. The accompanying instruments and musicians more than contribute to changing the whole feel of this song. Wow!!!!

Oh, this is truly beautiful and touching. Exquisitely sensitive and, in a word, perfect, and with the stately Danny Thompson always looking so composed.

Lyrics 🎵 I have a need For solitude I'll never be Safe in crowded rooms I like the sound Of silence coming on I come around When everyone has gone I have a need For cool, verdant spaces Beneath the trees Secret empty places Nobody knows So no one will intrude I have a need For solitude But you can find me, when the light is changing At that time of day when there's Little day remaining You can find me where I've been waiting Waiting here for you I never was The pretty girl in school I never was Fast, tough and cool All I was All my life it seems Was hard to love Harder now to keep But you can find me, when the light is changing At that time of day when there's Little day remaining I have a need For solitude I'll never be Safe in crowded rooms I like the sound Of silence coming on I come around when all the rest have gone

Wonderful, so much better than the studio version. Brilliant musicians collaborating brilliantly but none better than the bassist who holds everything together

Very well stated!!! My #1 favorite since I was 8 years old. So brillant and amazing. Saw her do this one small venue about a year ago....she can flood a room with brilliance, run a chill up your spine, and make you cry with one voice and an old 1967 HD-28 Martin six string!!!

Mark Zimmerman Hi Mark! I just saw her a few months ago at a very small venue at a nearby University and she was absolutely incredible. She did not play her Martin, though. She alternated between 2 different Greven guitars that are gorgeous! If you get a chance, stop by my KZitem channel - I have covered many of her songs. Nice to meet another MCC fan!
