Ever since I was a kid I was enamored with the art of voice acting. I found such joy in discovering new ways to make voices, sometimes making a sound and learning to speak with those muscles or vibrations. I was obsessed with some of the greats like Steve Blum while I watched Toonami who just had a great deep voice, icons like Kevin Conroy and Mark Hamill in the Batman series. I was inspired by actors like Maile Flanagan who plays Naruto, Veronica Taylor as Ash Ketchum, and of course the amazing Nancy Cartwright as Bart Simpson and so many more.
My Mother used to laugh so hard at all the funny voices I could make as a young boy, as then I began to impersonate animated characters in my favorite films. One character in particular stands out, Roz from Disney's 2001 Monster's Inc.. I was so excited when I learned to perfectly do that strange voice. I grew to love singing, mostly in private but I found it nearly impossible to not pitch match when I sang. This naturally made me very comfortable with female voices and male voices, further naturally improving my ability to make new voices.
Then in my early 20's after my time in the Marine Corps, I fell in love with a game called Dungeons & Dragons. Being a player was cool, but being a Dungeon Master sounded even cooler because I COULD play one character.. Or I can be all the characters that help drive the story forward! Roleplay in the fantasy form opened doors to the Grand Theft Auto Roleplay scene, specifically a server called, "NoPixel". Where you could embody this character in a virtual world where you were surrounded by other passionate roleplayers who all loved to have a good time, create epic, dark, beautiful moments that would entertain so many. It was a blast!
Most recently I've created my own recording booth at home and have been narrating a few Audiobooks for ACX, while honing my craft and desperately look for opportunity in this outstanding community that is voice over. I aim to provide my skill set to animators and animation students to learn more and continue to seek opportunity. This chance with I Hear Voices / IHeartRadio is a dream come true - I'm realistic but confident, eager to learn and grow and hopeful that this opportunity could be a chance at a career in a art style I have always loved dearly. I hope you enjoy!
