My dad was a trucker and he got lost in New Orleans, and an old black dude came up to his truck and asked if he was lost, dad said yeah, the old guy gave him directions on how to get out. The old dude said “don’t make eye contact with anyone, don’t roll down your windows and only stop when you have to or you will die.” Dad said it was the worst place to be as a trucker

The business owners are the only hope. No one else is showing those children any other way of life. It looks like it's a 90/10 ratio. 90% thugs and 10% actual role models. With those numbers, the cycle is just going to continue, especially where it's glorified in music, videos, and just day to day life. New Orleans has always been dangerous, but it seems that it has peaked in the last 3 years. It's sad.

This is why the conspiracy is that Thugs are manufactured by the system itself. Can you imagine if these boys were driven to want to engage in politics. If they formed organizations that emphasized the importance of finishing school to have a chance at making real change through an involvement in Business and politics. That poses a direct threat to those cushy seats in power right now. Thugs are dealt with using police and detectives. but how do you deal with organized groups of Boys and girls who seek to remove you from council and seek to build schools and factories for people to work in. how do you deal with people who want to change the status quo..@@reality_is_the_key

That's false hope my dude. Rap/Black culture will NEVER be outgunned by school. Black culture is what's keeping the black community down. If it isn't uprooted and thrown out by the very people that embrace it, nothing will ever change. This is a very sad truth. I wish the best for the black community, but it isn't looking good.

LMAO at "hope" being something that exists in the ghetto. These places only have one direction they will ever go and that's downhill, until they eventually become ghost neighborhoods like you see in Detroit and Camden and other inner cities. By then the parasites will have migrated into surrounding suburbs and turned those into ghettos, which will eventually become ghost towns. Lather rinse, repeat. Exact same process that happens to most malls. Good mall > ghetto mall > ghost mall > closed mall.

The whole city is broken from the Hurricanes. Tax dollars went way down, so a bunch of budget cuts. Cops get some of the lowest salaries in the country, so they are susceptible to bribery due to any above average person applying at other departments for more money, so they get the bottom of the barrel. The housing is pretty "affordable" compared to other cities that size, but that's because they're all broken down. And then the good houses are borderline gated communities if they aren't in one already because they spend hundreds of thousands of dollars on armed security and HOA's have to provide basic city services. So yea... not a good future for those guys.

ALMIGHTY GOD KABIR is the father of all souls that JESUS, MOHAMMAD, GURU NANAK, VEDH was telling in BIBLE, QURAN, GURU GRANTHA SAHEB Who is complete God? Iyov 36:5 - Orthodox Jewish Bible (OJB) See, El is Kabir, and despiseth, not any; He is Kabir in ko’ach lev (strength of understanding). Translation: Supreme God is Kabir, but despises no one. He is Kabir, and firm in his purpose. In all Bible translations, the word Kabir has been translated as "Mighty" or "Great" whereas Kabir is the original name of Supreme God. Conclusion: This verse of the Bible proves that Kabir is Complete God. The one who worships God Kabir by taking initiation from the complete saint sent by him gets complete salvation. After attaining salvation that souls rest in peace in the eternal abode Satlok forever. The throne of God is in Satlok( ETERNAL PLACE) 😊😊 God Kabir met Jesus and took his soul to Satlok. On their way, God Kabir made him see his ancestors David, Moses, Abraham, etc. in the Pitra Lokas. Then God took him to Satlok😊

I’m born and raised in New Orleans, and I can tell you first hand. This is probably one of the only videos like this where I see no exaggeration. New Orleans was always bad, but after Katrina everyone had to move into neighborhoods they wouldn’t even think of stepping foot into prior to Katrina. It caused chaos. People now had to live next door to dudes they were shooting at just months before. People from different projects (certain projects don’t get along with other projects) now had to be right across the street from one another. Made shooting one of your “enemies” allot easier.

"It's mandatory that you hustle in the City of New Orleans." I grew up in New Orleans, and I came from a lower class upbringing. I got my first job when I was 14 and went from there. One of the silver lining in New Orleans is that if you're honest and hard working, you can excel quite easily because there is so little competition! If you want a job, go find one, work hard, save your money, you can build a good life like I did. It's only your own mental defeatism and pessimism that keeps you poor and destitute if you're not even trying to make an honest living. After 30 years, I left the city of New Orleans. My wife and I have a house we own in a small rural town and a baby on the way. No regrets, it is sad to see New Orleans, the city I grew up in, a city I still love and have many friends and family in going downhill like this, but my advice to my loved ones is and has been to leave, it is a sinking ship that is only getting worse. The narrative that Katrina is the cause for the desolation of New Orleans is laughable. Of course it's true that the city was devastated, my Dad's house flooded, but if you look at a smart, culturally city like Hiroshima or Nagasaki, they were largely rebuilt into clean, function cities roughly 7 years after being bombed with nukes. New Orleans has had almost 20 years at this point, it's clear that something else is going on. The city is rotten and unhealthy, culturally, socially, politically, and that is why it has not, and probably never will fully heal from Katrina, blaming that on Katrina is missing the point. Side note, I lived uptown right next Chicken and Watermelon, they head GREAT fried Okra, fresh watermelon juice (obviously) and a really funny painting of Obama playing pool with JayZ and Lil Wayne.

This is wild, bc I'm literally born and raised in NOLA. Lived there (except when I went away to college and when I briefly lived in Atlanta and NYC), and this couldn't be farther from my experience. I moved to Dallas a couple years ago, though. Never really saw any of the crime myself (it was kinda like background noise on the news that I could basically ignore), went to a top school, always felt safe walking around to the places I wanted to go. As a teen, the most "crime" I got into would be more considered pranks by today's standards (like we "broke into" Hagen Daas after hours and stole a tub of ice cream lol). But post-college, I made a friend who grew up literally a few blocks over from where I lived and her experience is more in line with this video. She had been shot several times, was trafficked as a child, had to do sex work to survive, and recently died of an OD. I couldn't believe all this was going on within a few blocks from me! It's like we lived in parallel universes. And before anyone asks 😒, I'm black, but my friend, Nicole (R.I.P.) was white. I'm in the process of adopting her daughter, since she has no other family. I want her to have a life like I had. NOLA is truly a tale of two cities.

And for any New Orleanians in the comments who might wanna check my bona fides: I lived in Pontchartrain Park and Lake Terrace/Lake Oaks until college (nothing but fond memories... I live in Knoxville & a few years ago at one of the high schools in a predominantly black area the gang problem got really, really bad and in one year I think like 6 teenagers who were either current or former student got shot and most of them died in shootings related to gangs. After that, the community came together & even more money was put in their music programs. They have a west african drum ensemble that did a event called "drums up, guns down." And from what I've heard it's helped changed these kids' lives.

I’ve said it for years, this is how they dumb down society, and the more ignorant your citizens, the easier it is to control them. I’m 57 years old and when I was in school, the classes we could take were endless. Focusing only on reading, writing and arithmetic, has not only made school abundantly boring, it narrows the opportunities children have. Children need to be engaged.

I see your reasoning but as a Canadian, the problem isn’t cities, it’s the governmental support systems and laws. There are cities with lower crime rates than certain small towns in the world - it really depends on how poverty is alleviated and the regulation of weapons. They nurture your LUNGS, your self-expression, and provide a kind of camaraderie I’d argue you don’t even develop on team sports. You all literally BREATHE TOGETHER and learn how to time your own breathing to continue the music you and your peers create together. You can feel and hear how just one instrument, one section’s absence completely changes the music. You understand how important YOU are and value your band mates even more ❤

Thank you for actually binging attention to the city and the anecdotes we have rather than the offhanded way most news sources report about our problems. The striking thing is how even as bad as it gets no one here wants to abandon hope. Honestly, that is our saving grace... unlike so many other places Mola isnt hopeless.

My father's first wife was from Louisianna and was there during Katrina, she would have flashbacks of being on a roof trying to save people she'd scream out and try to use blankets to "save people" I was so little and didn't understand what was happening, but I realize as an adult she needed help, and she had terrible PTSD. I haven't seen her in years, and I hope she got the help she needed and bettered herself and is living her life to the fullest. I love you Lisa I never stopped thinking about you

Wow, we need more educators like that guy talking to the band class. I went to a fairly well-off public school, financially speaking, and we didn't have a single staff member willing to be that real with the students. Today's kids and young adults need guidance, and too many educators are scared to hold their ground, reprimand, or criticize negative behavior due to how a lot of students and their parents react. At my school, if a teacher talked that way to students, even if they were right and justified, they'd probably get fired due to students and parents causing a fuss.

Crazy thing is New Orleans has, generally speaking atleast, the better public schools in the state. I’m from Baton Rouge and I was graduating high school with ppl who basically couldn’t read and could barely do elementary arithmetic. If some of the graduates can barely read that means the kids dropping out, a lot of them in the 8th grade bc they failed so much, are actually a step above mentally disabled.

I listen to that man Complain about black people using the n-word more times than I could count for 2 hours at a funeral. 5 months before that I was at a party under I-10 being the only white person there and had a mother f****** blast.
