I have an 84' International 9670 and in Michigan. I get my parts from; International, Cummins, junk yard and on-line. At Freightliner, look for the oldest guy still working in parts, he/she will know how to find those hard to find parts, if they can still get them. Good luck and don't give up, you will find what you need or learn how to make it... lol

Actually looks like a diamond in the rough. I’d check fuses first on the lights and electrical issues because it looks like truck driver wiring job in there. Try lubing up that foot valve before you replace it. The interior looks to be in really decent shape, just really dirty. Doesn’t even look like the headliner has water damage that’s a real common issue on those trucks. James Pretty on you tube has a couple of those trucks he may have ideas on a parts source. It already runs good you got it home probably needs some adjustments and a good servicing. That paint if you’re lucky might buff out,but that’s a job I’d save for a pro. It’s got flat windshields so they can cut new ones if they don’t clean.

Forgot to say 300 gallons is actually a pretty common amount of fuel to carry. You can still get dual 150s on new trucks but they aren’t as common now because trucks got heavier with all the extra emissions equipment and they more luxurious cabs of today.

Short wheelbase, spring suspension, that means it rides like a mechanical bull. I used to drive one just like it except it was a single axle spring suspension. I drove it for a contractor who was leased to then Roadway Package System which is now known as FedEx ground after being bought by them. I pulled doubles with it back then. Weekly trips from NJ to Fla to PA and back to NJ by the end of the week. That was about 30 years ago. Cool to see one being resurrected. Although I was young and dumb, I enjoyed driving that slow azz truck despite it being bare bones like that one. As for your shift linkage, try some truck junkyards. They made plenty of those trucks and I'm sure you can find one at a parts yard or see if the dealer has one new on the shelf still.

Love the cabovers, we rarely see long nosed trucks here in the UK 🇬🇧 but if I was younger and in the USA I'd love to drive cabovers, more video's please, best wishes from John in S.Wales 🏴 uk 🇬🇧✅

My 04 Freightliner Classic XL has dual 150 gallon tanks, my truck gets 6.5 to 7 miles per gallon, that’s pretty typical fuel mileage for any truck

Man how much does it cost to get started as a new owner operator? I know it can vary but just really want to pursue my dream man and your content inspires me man. I don’t know much so any information would be amazing brother! Be safe out there

It depends on how you plan to do it. I have my own authority so it’s a lot more cost, but you could buy a truck and lease it on to an existing authority and it would be a lot cheaper and make about the same money in the end. It all depends on what your long term plans are.

I had an 88 with 350 nine speed but it was overdrive, was a reverse shift U pattern high gear was all the way over and up not back. Hauled bottle water with it 2014 sold it and ran for the guy I sold it to up to about 2018 running horse show jumps, then he sold it to a bull hauler. The steering box leaked bad and parts are impossible to find for them. The window should stay up even with no air pressure, something not right. Lift up your dog box were your vacuum hose is laying, all your wiring and fuses are under there.

I would but the inner door panel is riveted together, so I’d need to drill those out to get a stick in there.
