Danie, I had never DIY'd before but I've been a loyal follower of yours for quite a while and this weekend I decided to finally take the plunge and start DIYing myself. I started with spraypainting an old metal table I had been given years ago but no longer liked the color of. I was really nervous but your channel gave me the courage to try and it turned out GREAT! I can't wait to use it in my new apartment! Thank you so much for making these videos and inspiring us all to try something new!

Not an expert by any means, but one comment. Keep an eye on the herbs in the covered area. Generally speaking, most herbs are sun loving. That side may get plenty of sun (and they’ll be fine if that’s the case), or your mom may have got you ones that tolerate partial sun or shade. But if they’re not growing well there, you might have to relocate them to a sunny spot. All looks great though!
@rebecarendell
3 жыл бұрын
Mediterranean herbs need a lot of sunshine, but many others are perfectly fine in shade. I couldn't see what all of them were, but the mint will definitely be OK, as long as it is kept well watered; mint loves damp conditions! I grow mine on the lowest level of some outdoor shelves, and it loves it 😀
@spicedhazel

The low-growing plant with tall dead flowers is likely sedum. I'd trade out the window planters with longer ones that match the window width, but that's me. (It seems you got rid of them? 🤷 Valid.) Personally, I've been avoiding sprinklers, but.... I really want that one your mom brought you omg. ("Branch manager is making cuts" really made me laugh. I love your puns.) The welcome sign basket thing is also beautiful! I *love* the pot hooks! Did not know those were a thing! I have to get some now 😍 About Hedge Trimmers: So I've always low-key hated hedge trimmers, and going to horticultural school really turned that into a high-key hate. They're really best for if you want squares or balls or whatever, but that's really best paired with bushes with tight growing habits that are naturally only a little bigger than the size you are aiming for. Hedge trimmers really butcher and tear up branches and leaves, and they tend to leak machine oil onto the plant. I've just never seen a bush that's been hedge-trimmed *thrive* like it should; they tend to be a bit sickly and sometimes start rotting in the middle. The second bush you trimmed, you over-trimmed right away, and it's really going to suffer for that - BUT you were using the hedge trimmers the way most people do. (Your use on the tree was fine and is how those are usually trimmed.👍) If you absolutely can't spend all day hand-pruning, I get the appeal, but I'd encourage you to just replace bushes with ones you like the natural form of if that's the case. I'm sorry if this sounds overly negative, but I thought my experience might help Danie and anyone else reading. I tried to keep this to just enough words to get my point across. I am up for answering any questions with more detail than provided here.

Aw I dig gardening! 😁👍🏻 If you’re worried about remembering to water making it an event in your calendar can help. Also if you really don’t wanna do it, drip hose or a drip system can be laid into the flower beds and put on a timer. Boom done and your plants stay happy and healthy without you having to drag the hose around. I think of gardening as exterior design rather than interior. It’s just a big outside room that can be designed how you like, the possibilities are pretty much endless. 🌸🌼🌺🌞
