I've had my Stargazer for several years now and it has proven itself. I do a lot of my cooking outdoors and this pan can really take the heat. Along with the seasoning it has developed, is this very delightful aroma that it has from so many wood-fired cooks. I love that smell it gives off when using it indoors.

interesting, never thought the iron would retain the smoke smell I like that. Q: if used indoors would that smell transfer to to foods cooked in it? not a totally bad thing

My 10”Stargazer arrived as a gift, it went head to head with my standard Lodge 10”. They are both excellent and do a great job . The Stargazer was a struggle to season because it was so smooth, it came “ seasoned” but hardly. On the seventh seasoning I was satisfied. So which do I use daily? It’s the Stargazer because the handle is better and the surface is smoother. The Lodge 10 & 12” both see use on big jobs but the new skillet is the one on the stove for daily use, just a bit friendlier and less clunky. The Lodges are 20 years old and the seasoning is spectacular, hoping the new skillet will catch up in time.

I had a helluva time seasoning my Stargazer. It came preseasoned but because of the smooth surface, it took quite a while to get a good buildup of seasoning. I eventually fried with it using peanut oil a few times and finally got a good base. My Field, Lodge and Griswolds took seasoning much easier but I still like my Stargazer.

bought mine preseasoned and haven't really seasoned it since, just cooking, and it's not really darker after 5yrs but never lost it's slickness. I really needed to get some coats on it, just cause I love seeing it all black like that. So glad I got this skillet and at the price I got it at.
