I’m a dispatcher and watch your videos and just wanted to say congrats on your new truck and journey, the one thing I will say about leasing a truck with a major carrier is they will give you loads meanwhile they are paying off the truck and once it gets close to you actually paying it off the loads slow down and your screwed cause you can not use the truck to get work anywhere else and the payment can only be made by the company, and that’s how they take advantage of this, just be careful most of these major carriers are really shady.

One suggestion, I would write down a checklist of things you need to get done and setup. You have a big advantage of not having a mortgage or rent to pay. You got this girl, just run hard and save, save for that Big 379 Pete. I wouldn't put your logo on your truck, too many weirdo's out there. Just my opinion. Stay safe. Peace ✌ and Love ❤.

With the TriPak APU you just press & hold the first button for like 2-3 seconds & it'll fire right up. You can turn the nob left for the AC, middle for the fan & right for the heat. When you turn the heat on you may have to give it a few minutes before it starts to blow warm air. The good thing with the TriPak's is that they can be used to charge your batteries as well. Like if you decide to do a 34 in a hotel or somewhere away from the truck, you can put your TriPak in standby mode & it'll fire up if your batteries start to get low and will charge them back up. Lots of benefits to having TriPak apu

What are the benefits to leasing only vs company driver? Seems like doing lease, not lease purchase, is just extra work. Or do people do it to get years on their company before going O/O so they can get insurance and brokers and stuff? Straight lease seems weird to me. I’m company driver at small company with access to rate cons and brokers choosing what I do. making around $2500 in this market with 0 risk or skin in the game and have no complaints. 2023 cascadia, boss has asked if I want to ever purchase or lease but why would I right now?

@@Ironiclobster69 the benefit is learning how to run your business properly with some safety nets in place. For instance downtime pay when the truck is in the shop. More dedicated loads, no lumpers, no load locks , no sweeping trailer, no moving tandems, shorter so easier to park, tank washes are drop and hook, it’s all food grade no hazmat. Less stressful. I don’t drive for Prime but Hewell and LCL are the bigger known companies. I drive for a small company that’s teamsters union, health insurance deductibles only $250. Many others have like $3-5000 deductibles. I love it and will never go back ever.

Dear Nia, I hope this message finds you well. Firstly, congratulations on your new truck-it's truly exciting to see you taking steps to enhance your professional presence in the media world. I understand that the idea of putting your logo on it has come up, and I wanted to share some thoughts with you. While branding your truck with your logo is a great way to promote your work and talents, I'd like to gently caution you about the potential risks, especially in your line of work. Given the nature of media and the need for privacy and safety, it might be worth considering the balance between visibility and personal security. Perhaps there are alternative ways to showcase your brand without making your presence too conspicuous. This way, you can maintain a level of anonymity and security when needed while still effectively promoting your media endeavors. Ultimately, the decision is entirely yours, and I trust your judgment. I just wanted to offer this perspective as you weigh your options. I'm here to support you in whatever choice you make, and I'm excited to see where your media journey takes you. Wishing you continued success and safety in all your endeavors.

Falling into the trap that so many new drivers fall in to. There are problems with all companies, all that really changes is the name on the truck. Shippers and load brokers look at the drivers record when giving out quality loads when someone tries to obtain their own authority. Yes, Prime has a very nice HQ but you won't see it often. Good Luck

Hell, back in 84, I believe, was when i first looked into a lease purchase, and after doing a little research, the company i was dealing with had less than 5% success rate. I checked into others over a 35 year period and found them all to help make the company money some way or another, and most leases finshed early and in somecases winding up as a negative on your DAC report and i dont personally know anyone who finshed well with a lease purchase. But it's been a few years since i have been shifting gears, so maybe its better, i hope it is anyway. You seem like a sweetie, so I wish you the best, however you go.

My advice for minimizing potential issues that can come up with these peterbilts as I've had afew with prime and spent a good amount of time at shops. Do not go by the extended maintenance intervals. 70k miles for oil and fuel filter changes is a cost effective option provided to fleets by manufactures to get as many miles as possible outta these trucks before they dump them on for sale lots at 400k miles, that is..if they make it that far. Even with synthetic oil, 25k-35k miles max. Same with fuel filters. I'd recommend getting your DPF filter cleaned once a year. Over time, that DPF system breaks down and loses the ability to burn soot the way it needs to resulting in buildups, getting that filter baked once a year will save you thousands in potential tow bills and from having to get that system cleaned after the fact. Cummins are a lot more susceptible to abuse than paccars, you can't just hop in the driver seat and throw the gear selector into D with these paccar engines. It will catch up to you, you either pay now or pay later from my experience.

Hey Nia, your answer on the Swift question is they do this to everybody that quits them even though you were running a dedicated load probably a Walmart don't hold me to. They don't care about you or anyone else I'm surprised you lasted as long as you did I know people that went to work for Swift and never got paid I can give you some good advice, I made a lot of money working on the road not leasing a truck it took me four companies and when I found that company that start I got sick basically I got cancer and had to go through and the day I was going back to work I had a stroke and that ended everything the company I work for it was Rohel transportation out of Marshfield Wisconsin the trailer I had was a curtain I delivered doors commercial, the money was a great average pay $1,800 a week. Upon my return I never dead headed back I always pick up another load my actual miles per week was about 3200 miles a week. Not bad I had retired from AT&t and I decided I wanted to drive a truck. One thing I can tell you is stay out of truck stops and if you want to make money you have to let them tires run don't stop every hour keep them tired rolling I promise you you do that you will make them money it's not a nine-to-five job but it is a hell of a job if you know what you're doing and once you get the hang of it you'll make a great living I don't know nothing about prime personally I would never lease I always believed in OPM, as long as you keep the pedal to the metal be on time don't take every drop and hook because it's local short the money you will make will be on the long Halls the short hauls are nothing but a waste of your time just remembered now you're paying for the fuel you're basically paying everything I don't know what they're paying you but if you're making lesson 3.50 per mile then you're not making any money. I noticed watching your films that you like to have a dog with you just remember this when you go into a company that is food-grade sometimes they will not let your dog in so please be very careful with keep your dog out of sight with I hope you make a lot of money with these people and I hope they give you a lot of miles cuz you need it to pay for that truck that you're fixin' to lease wow I'm going to approximate your lease is probably twenty-five hundred a month or more I can always say this to you in your eyes looking in both mirror that all time and you will do great stay out of the the more thing I can tell you this sleepwear the other trucks are don't sleep out there by yourself cuz you're vulnerable to these criminals that want to rob please be very careful. Enjoy the road where can you go on vacation and see the country while you're working good luck on your new adventures with prime.

Good choice. I been with prime off and on over 21 yrs I've always least I did one lease buyout. It was a 2014 10-speed manual best truck I've ever had now I have a 2023 Freightliner. I've always driven Freightliner

Being a 20 year veteran in the trucking industry, I think this was not the right choice. We're in a what is called a quiet recession. Freight rates across-the-board are down. Fuel is at an all time high and the fuel surcharge isn't enough to cover the costs. If I'm mistaken, didn't prime announce they were not hiring driver back after they quit? 400 drivers less because of the economy. I hope it works out for you but be diligent at controlling costs. Save EVERYTHING you make. New drivers think they're gonna make lots of money coming out here until their first accident. Then the companies don't care after that. Just remember that when you get close to the end of that lease, the freight will show down until you can't masks payments. Walk away leases don't mean you don't have to pay anything. Let a lawyer read the fine print first. Surry for the long comment.

This chick is so badass. I got a 2000 379 Pete and Peterbuilt has always sucked ass on storage. It’s incredible that they still have a shitty fridge space 24 years later. Mine sits on the floor and takes foot space. Sucks
