I don't want you to sell yourself short! The generative model gave you what you asked for, but YOU decided on the herb potatoes, YOU decided to mix the ingredients together to complement each dish, YOU made the spending decision that made the budget work (buying the ingredients that were on sale, or made the most sense financially). If someone had typed the same thing into chat gpt and just bought what it said and just mixed the ingredients it suggested for the same dishes, this would be a failure. AI is a good brainstorming tool, but it can't make the in-the-moment snap decisions that are intuition-based and required to make something good. Just like a stand mixer makes forming dough easier, YOU still made the dough, YOU still baked the bread. Love your insight into making food work on a budget and making it taste great and easy to make.

Just a tip on the lemon tree thing, this is a good time of year to find lemon trees at places like home Depot and Lowe's for around $30 to $50 range that will be ready to go for fruit next season. You can also plant them in a 25 gallon nursery pot, just the solid black ones. So that way when you move, you can take it with you or you can bring it in the house when it's winter. Garage whatever. Just to protect it. They do sell smaller fruit trees that are around $25, and they are producing fruit, it's just not the best for them to produce fruit yet because the tree needs to get a little stronger. So you could get one of those and still plant it in your pot, you just remove the fruit for the first year or two until the tree gets a couple of feet tall. I live in florida, so we can have our citrus out almost all year. I'm on my first year of a few citrus trees and it was hard to pinch off all the fruit the other day, but I know in a few years I'll have a lot!

i agree. we bought one at a tractor supply store 3 years ago when they were marked down for mother's day ($20). we repotted it in a large container as we have harsh winters (had a blizzard here the past 2 days). it is nice to bring in when the weather is too cold and then we set it back out in the spring to fall when the weather is nice. so far it's bloomed every year. can't wait to get lemons!

When you’re looking for a salad bowl at the thrift shop, look for a wide very shallow bowl. That way you make a “flat” salad that doesn’t need to tossed! No toppings sinking to the bottom or going to the first person to dig in if you forget to toss. It makes a lovely presentation that looks delicious to the last serving.

Not only is this a nice brunch in general, and probably lovely for Easter - it also works for Passover as is. The basic menu is dairy with the feta cheese, but has no meat PLUS there's nothing that uses flour at all. It would be perfect for a Passover holiday lunch because the dinners are very heavy and meaty, and this would balance beautifully. I'd happily serve this to guests.

I like the salad idea with the meal, but it really depends on who you are feeding...because salad and fruit might be a lot of fresh stuff for some people and they might just do one or the other...but if you have someone watching carbs or something, the salad is a good option if they don't want too much fruit. @kristentaylor5359

great idea! About the pineapple, to find out if it's ripe, just try to pull out one of the leaves at the top. If it comes out easily, it's ripe. If it won't come out or you really have to pull it, put it back and keep looking.
@primeaardvark646

This is not really true. Please follow these simple tips to select a great pineapple. I’m looking for a pineapple that’s HEAVY for its size with a nice FULL CROWN. The LEAVES AREN’T BROWN, neither is the skin. There should be NO blue mold on the base by the stem and NO bruising or soft spots anywhere. The place by the stem should have a sweet fresh pineapple SCENT. All things being equal, I look for a YELLOW pineapple, but some varieties don’t get real yellow; but that doesn’t mean that they’re bad. The color is my last metric. Enjoy. It’s my favorite fruit. 😊

You can 100% grow a lemon or lime tree in a container that you can move with you. I don’t know where you are, but citrus doesn’t really care for cold weather, so growing in a pot in ideal for most of the country anyway so you can bring them indoors or into a garage during freezing weather. Also, regarding a pie server. I have one that I’ve had since my wedding 22 years ago. I have only used it one time. It doesn’t do what it was supposed to do in my opinion. I just use a fork to serve pies and frittata, brownies, etc. It works better and a fork is multifunctional. 😊

I’m so old and technology illiterate that I have no clue what AI is but I’m always here for your beautiful content!! By the way…your red curls are stunning!! I’m in the bleaching process right now😂. I always go back light for warm weather! I’ve got one more bleach bath and then my old 58 yr old ass is going neon yellow!!!😂❤. We’re very lucky at our Food Lion because the young lady that runs the produce department is awesome!!! She really stays on top of things!! If you’ll put 2 of the lemon halves on top of each other in the press and mash them again you’ll get more juice! I saw this somewhere a few yrs ago and I always do it and it really works. Welcome to the I despise any kind of melon club🤢.

Living in the Rio Grande Valley TX we have access to cheaper fresh fruit. It's worth investing in a pineapple corer if you do a lot of fresh.

Way to go! Awesome challenge, awesome menu. You might can use AI to come up with recipes using dollar tree ingredients too. You are smart and have probably thought of that. I really appreciate that you talk about how to keep from wasting tomatoes, and the idea about holding back some seasoning mix for the fritatta. Excellent tips.

If buying strawberries and also making lemonade you can toss the strawberry tops in with those lemon peels to make a strawberry syrup and have "pink" lemonade. Salad and frittata/quiche is a pretty common dish served at brunch restaurants. I personally am like you and don't really want a salad with my eggs.
