Regarding Angela’s question, I think I experience something similar. It’s not necessarily a noise but more a rushing/whooshing sensation which essentially snaps me back out of my fall into sleep. It will happen a few times, after which I’m so full of adrenaline sleep is off the table. I put this as one of the main reasons I’m insomniac. I feel this is the point that most people drift into sleep, but my brain is too sensitive and rather than passing that threshold into sleep, I bounce back off. It’s so frustrating.

My Question. Can sleep affect how we age? And why. Thank you.

I’ve heard that too much Aspartame can interfere with your sleep & could cause certain neurological disorders? What do you think ? I have a few colas & cough drops which have that ingredient in it. I’ve had Insomnia for the past year & am trying to figure out why? Thanks Barb S.

Hey doctor I am a student, 16 years old and I've had the worst time because of randomly waking up in my sleep and i know that doesn't sound like much but I've had almost no energy to do any of my school work, talk to anyone and even pay attention to anything, I feel really really tired (but not sleepy) all the time and extreme depressive, anxious symptoms and I cannot live life at all, my grades have been falling, my social life's become worse, its getting harder to speak everyday, the thing is i had been a huge health guy and used to easily sleep 8-9hrs with close to perfect sleep hygiene (except magnesium) i was doing everything to optimize my sleep since I play competitive sports and recovery is huge for me, but after i moved houses i just cannot sleep, i also recently went on vacation to 4 different countries in which i could sleep perfectly fine and felt so energetic and good, but as soon as i came back home the sleep problems started again and my life has gone to shit again, this has been happing for 8 months now and its gotten really really bad, i even got a blood test done to test my cortisol but it came back normal, everything came back normal but its just back home, i keep waking up and going back to sleep in the middle of the night and when i wake up the next day i have 0 energy, ive tried everything and nothing seems to work, please help me out (its not sleep apnea i got it tested

Maybe try moving the direction and/or location of your bed? You can look for more Info on sleep direction, Vastu Shastra, and also Feng Shui if you want. Head in the South or East direction is supposed to be best.

I’m not a “huge health guy” but I know that when I’ve gone through periods of going hard at the gym, my sleep pretty much disappears. I never train after about 3pm but even if in the morning, if I’m pushing myself hard a few times a week, I become seriously insomniac (more than usual) - to the point I’m a literal waking zombie. Try holding off all training for 2 weeks. You probably won’t wanna do it, but try it to rule out overtraining.

I was just wondering if it is ok to wake up at different times in morning. For example I wake up at 7:30 certain days and 9:00 on others due to school schedule. Is this ok, or should I just stick to waking up at one set time every morning?

I don't know if they will answer you but I was told by my sleep doctor to wake up at the same time each morning no matter what so if I were you, I would wake up at 7:30 despite your schedule.

NO BANANAS IF YOU HAVE PAIN. An acupuncturist told my her patients have 50% pain improvement when they stop eating bananas. She’s right. Every person I’ve told about it agrees and they have no idea bananas are an issue with pain. Also, avoid Vaseline Intensive Care lotion and probably most ‘regular’ lotions. I use Tree To Tub. Not paid to say that.

Now my second year into retirement I noticed I started to have trouble getting to sleep. I was not falling asleep till 2 maybe 3 am I was off schedule. I talk to my Dr she prescribed a medication but I been staying away from that. So the past 3 Mimi been doing research and experiment with herb teas Camomile I take an hour before bed. I do take liquid melatonin only 2 mg hour before bed. I shut the night out hour before bed. I do 10 Meditation 🧘 and finally got back on schedule. I did a sleep hygiene class online, that I got from my sleep Dr. After doing all the things that were in the class I now have the same bedtime every day and go to bed whether I feel tired or not and I’m sleeping 8-10 hours a night. You need to be diligent to the class and it works despite all the other sleep disorders I have.
