I definitely felt that " I like to get places early so I can start working, I get high anxiety. " comment.. Sometimes I'll wake up at 4am in bed and start thinking about a particular job I have that day and I'll immediately start wishing I could just go and get started on it right then instead of tossing and turning for the next 3 hours thinking about scenarios.😂😂

Hey Chris, I’m a crane operator and do these fans and rtus all day all. If you open the top of the fan there are 4 pick points inside the motor compartment.

keep an eye out, Greenheck upblast fans of certain sizes will have optional lifting holes cut right into the windband soon, no need to remove the hood or hook onto supports.

duct tape round the greasy bits would also work if you have no shackles... very considerate of you, big picture, as you say, keep other contractors happy, they will make you happy in return

I've never seen that style of tachometer before. I used to work for an air balance company during the summer, and we used a laser reflective tachs. Edit. Now i see you used the laser half. That's a really neat tach.

I have the Extech which is the same tach and it is great because it gives you a laser on one end and a manual roller type on the other for different situations. Itworks great but you have to be careful when you use the manual roller type as it is easy to damage the rubber tip if you press too hard onto the motor shaft and you do see a variation in speed with varying pressure.

Interesting to note that the correct rotation is actually that of a backward-bladed blower wheel rather than the forward bladed configuration that is more commonly found in HVAC. Is there are particular reason for this?

Honestly a belt driven fan is going to be cheaper and more reliable in the long run. VFDs are lucky to last as long as 2 belts lol

These are available with external disconnects with liquid tight running through the breather tube to an external switch.

Yes. I think the smallest one greenheck makes is a 10 or 12 inch wheel for the fan that you watched being installed here.
