Hey guys, I just want everyone who watched this video to check out the tweet that I'm going to link below this. I'm in full support of Lingua Ignota and want to make sure everybody knows that any compliments directed towards Alexis Marshall in this video are purely towards his music and not at all directed at his personality. Fuck Alexis Marshall. twitter.com/LINGUA_IGNOTA_/status/1469019331556225026

Ulver would be good for this. They do have some harsh vocals early but they've constantly evolved and shifted genres in a really interesting way.

The Unattractive, Portable Head and Guest House are my favorite ones from them. The both have a similar structure (50% mind-blowing guitar fuckery and 50% harrowing yet beautiful synth outros). Both being fire closers for their respective albums

Hell Songs is so fucking underrated. Easily my favorite. I'm sorry for being the genre girl or whatever but like, Canada Songs in it's compositional approach is almost just a straight up grindcore record, and Hell Songs, man... Hell Songs is something else, man. Maybe it's just bias bc that's when I found them, but imo, every other record they did has pretty easily recognizable inspirations and definable genres. There isn't a record on earth that sounds like Hell Songs. The closest thing i can think of is like Arab On Radar and it's related projects (Chinese Stars/Doomsday Student). I genuinely don't get where you're coming from when you basically say it's basically just Canada Songs 2.0. I really don't think you spent enough time with that record. If I didn't know going in I would have assumed those were two different bands, or at least the same band maybe a whole decade worth of albums down the road. At least go revisit the track Cheers Pricks, to this day still imo their best song, that sound they make 8 seconds in is one of the most terrifying sounds ever made with a guitar.

Hell songs has been one of the only albums that genuinely makes me feel disturbed and makes my stomach churn. The lyrics are genuinely repulsive. Love Daughter's music including Hell songs but I can't listen to it on a regular basis.

Bit late but was listening to daughters when I saw this sooooooooooo. Daughters is one of my favorite bands and wanted to rank them just to express my opinion 1: You Won't Get What You Want- 10/10 A Masterpiece of a record and one of my favorite albums overall 2: Daughters (S/T)- 9.3/10 A really good record with some minor issues but still this record is amazing. 3: Canada Songs- 7.2/10 The first Daughters record I've listened to. I've got into Daughters because I was looking for some short and heavy records since I was impatient and a big Mathcore fan and found this 11 minute record on bandcamp. listened to this record like 10 times and has some of my favorite Daughters tracks. 4: Daughters EP- 5.7/10 The Names to these songs are better than the songs. I enjoy moments of this record when listening to this record, not that much sticks afterwards. 5: Hell Songs- 3.5/10 The only Daughters record I dislike to some degree. not much really intersted me while listening to this record and was just plain uninterested. Recorded In a Pyramid is easily the best track on this record, 9/10 track.

listen to tom waits, death (death metal band), sufjan stevens, lifelover, james ferraro, dilliger escape plan, ulver (incredibly eclectic band that went from black metal to idm to synthpop).

If you want to hear bands like daughters understand the genre. XBXRX. An Albatross. These Arms Are Snakes. Arab on Radar. Lighting Bolt. Off Minor. Drive Like Jehu. Hot Snakes. It’s weird you’re reviewing a niche genre and you don’t get it. It comes off lazy and uninformed because you were 3 when they started playing music.

Just subbed, not shitting on you by any means, but as someone that started listening to them after the the EP and before Canada songs... Maybe you'll feel the same as you did in your original take, but hell songs changed the game harder than any record, just got less attention. It's perfect. Also instead of throwing out genre slang, bring up the fact that daughters is the most important spiritual successor of nick caves the birthday party... If you havent.. go down that road. Also.. hats off for being new to the game and throwing down on some daughters, mad appreciation. Stay cool.

EPICA 👀 You might like them, maybe? Dream Theater, TOOL, and Blind Guardian (they have too much music tho, so maybe not them). Dimmu Borgir has harsh vocals, so why not try them lmaooo? A band that is just fun Calabrese might be nice to try too, or The Birthday Massacre. Throbbing Gristle for something weird. I love your videos, have fun with this. There's a lot of music out there.

I have a question, do you still have YWGWYW in your 10/10s even after the exposing of the actions Alexis Marshall? I kinda want to listen to YWGWYW because I'm a sucker for industrial, but I am not sure if it's ethical to listen/supporting Daughters. Sure, you can separate the album from the artist, but you could make a case for it not being applicable this time, so... what should I really do?
