Me and my husband moved to Arizona 2 years ago. Our extended family offered to help us, but we felt like trying not to be a burden. So we bought an RV. We have been living in the RV for over a year now to save from losing the money on rent. We are finally looking at the perspective of buying our own home. All the sacrifices of space were worth it. Its not shameful to live in something else other then a house. Home is anywhere you live with your loved ones. 🥰

You have to live in California to understand why families are "piling up". Rents are so high that people just can't wrap their heads around it. We need to see more garage and storage shed conversion videos. What we *really* need to do, as Californians, is to get rid of these greedy politicians and their greedy laws so that we can breathe again, have some elbow room again. We have the most beautiful scenery but the greediest, money grubbing people.

I think its beautiful that you and your family share your space with each other in a way that seems peaceful and happy, I can imagine how strong your bond must be with them, and I wish that I had that in my own life. While I do think the specific arrangement shown in this video is awesome, and it looks super cozy, it's absolutely ridiculous to me that we have been conditioned to believe this is acceptable living. Most garages are NOT good living quarters, especially for many families. But society has pushed us into this direction of just appreciating any type of roof over our heads when it's literally the bare minimum of what every family should have. Like, there are people in California living in dilapidated garages/tiny homes and are conditioned to feel "blessed" because they have a roof over their heads, and they're paying an arm and a leg, but hey! At least they're in California! It makes me so sad. Life shouldn't be like that.

I live in a garage in New York and it’s a huge home with a 1st and 2nd floor house and my mother owns the house and I’m one of 5 kids and there’s no room for me “my mother says” and I never had my own room for my entire life and this garage is my first room and it’s hard but I do my best to keep it clean and organized so I can road trip back to San Francisco in my car I’m building but I’m very limited to where I go and getting everything together. It’s nice to see another person who’s creative enough and confident enough to post this. I’m gonna make a post as well soon and per-sue my plans I say to do. Please post more.

Having moved to California (San Diego) from Wyoming in 06, the cost of living is astronomical! (Quite the sticker shock) I noticed that many people convert large areas that would generally be wasted into living space. For example, have a friend in PB that built a room in his large living room for an additional roommate. I really think your "garage" is really cute, and with the garage door still functional, that plan could only work in a warmer climate. I have since came back to Wyoming and absolutely MISS the weather there (winters get below -20 here) but don't miss the cost of living (the ONLY thing I don't miss) The people there are just so motivated and full of life! This also gives me an idea for my UNUSED 2 car garage 🤔 Thank you for sharing and wish you and your family good health, long life, and happiness!

This is why I can't do California anymore. I lived there for ten years. It's just so expensive there. People are so use to living like this and see this as normal. Since I moved to Kentucky I've been so much happier honestly. My husband son and I live in a 3 bedroom 2 bath house for only $550 a month. That would have never of been possible for that price and how nice our house is in California. Its also why the homeless population is so high. I could never move back there.
@chrrislowe9919

I’m from Toronto and I’m truly SHOOK that you got that for $550. A 2 bedroom, 1 bathroom studio apartment aka very small is $1200. That’s incredible! So eye opening to see the difference in living cost when looking at busy “popular” cities compared to other places. Sounds amazing ☺️

@@chrrislowe9919 yeah it definitely is amazing. We were living in Redwood city Ca (pretty close to San Francisco CA) when our son was first born with my husband's Nana. We had to share rent for a two bedroom one bath apartment $2,500 a month. I was so over it. As much as I loved the weather and scenery in Ca. I way prefer to live affordable and comfortable in a beautiful home that we can live in by ourselves and don't have to struggle to pay rent or have roommates.

@@chrrislowe9919 and yeah the bigger popular cities are just so expensive to live in. It truly sucks especially if you love where you live and all your friends and family is there so that makes it too difficult to move. So some people have to adapt to everything being way overpriced. I feel so grateful to have gotten the opportunity to move here and to be able to find and live in a beautiful home that's affordable.😊

I lived in California my entire life Absolutely beautiful state but it's so unfortunate that government regulations, high taxes, homelessness, traffic, pollution are destroying this state. Los Angeles is an unsafe definitely would never want to raise children near here. I've been looking at property in Texas and boy you can get so much more for your buck out there. Your quality of life would be improved by 40% by relocating.

All i could think of was how great it would be if you could put some kind of bar right inside the garage door then you could get some white painters covers or extra king size sheets and put them on clip on curtains rings. You could close them to make the room cozier looking or they would look pretty pulled back when the door was open. Major cabana vibe. But still very cute little house. Especially in California! 😊

Very wise move to keep your bills down as you get more financially established. Why pay for a big place or expensive place before you get a family or before you can save. That way even if you decide to stay single, or just the two of y'all and you both want you can get a smaller place and spend time and money on living and/or traveling. I love my 480 square foot tiny home that I built 11yrs ago. I add something every year like a screened in porch, and carport. Last was a fire pit awning to chill in the shade and enjoy the fire pit. Next year I will add to the screened in porch, then I will add a covered outdoor kitchen. The secret to tiny living is big outdoor spaces.
