I can't imagine having dermatitis with stones and pebbles on top all covered by a false sole. At almost 400 lbs per foot that's pretty painful. Glad that you made her feel better.

I hate the intro music of one particular channel. I fail to see that the music they chose has anything to do with good trimming.

Hooray for KZitem directing me to yet another oddly satisfying to watch channel. I am a biologist - though I ended up working on structures that one needs a microscope to deal with, my childhood love of animal care stuff still exists. Worked in a nature rehab center in OR over my 16th yr summer and the only reason I didn't continue that was because we moved back to Philly within a year or so. You're obviously a patient teacher, very thorough in explaining things, and I can absolutely understand why you kept doing this post-college - it looks like the definition of satisfaction every time you finish. And happy cows too!

He had a lousy equipment, a bad attitude, and not one bit of caring for the cow itself.

For those that may not know or maybe perhaps first time seeing a cow trimming video, this does not hurt them at all and actually helps them. Basically cows and horses have long and thick nails on their feet like how we have toe nails. Made from the same material so when farmers cut into it the animal doesn't feel a thing. Sometimes these animals will have cysts or infections built up inside their nails so the farmer will trim it down to the point to relieve that pressure and get the junk out so it can start healing. Sadly when stuffs deep like that the animal does feel it but the farmers have to work quickly to get rid of the problem so it doesn't cause more serious problems or allow the Infection to make bigger holes in their hoofs. But if the farmer has to do that procedure then afterwards they will apply medicine as well as screw in a hard plastic cover on the hoof to protect the open wound as well as make it more stable for the animal to walk. Then they also will wrap it afterwards to keep any material from being able to get into the wound. Prior to farmers doing this the cows will show discomfort or pain when walking is how they know they need to help the cow. But right after the procedure within a couple hours the cows are back being happy running around which is a beautiful thing. So even though this looks brutal just know these farmers love their animals and just helping them is all.
