In my humble opinion arguably the finest male chorus live recording ever put on tape/digital media. Tone, phrasing, arrangement, everything pretty much perfect but the overriding thing is the impact of the emotional delivery of these men- it’s so powerful. A very special piece of choral work and very hard to match anywhere.

It was the Priesthood Session. The conductor at the time, Rosalind Hall, led the Men's Chorus and the Concert Choir. So most of the people in this group were from her choirs. She did most of our rehearsal and teaching of this song. We had a small number of men from Dr. Staheli's University Singers with us also. This was Dr. Staheli's arrangement, so, logically, he led the group in singing. However, since Sister Hall was a woman, she wasn't invited to even come to the Conference Center to hear us live. She later said she had to listen from the back of her stake center overflow and she was so proud of us.

Hank Smith and John Bytheway suggested that we listen to this powerful plea for God to stay by our side from 2 Nephi 4. My heart and soul are encompassed by the depth that these young men performed 9 years ago. I pray that they have continued on in their lives true, faithful, believing, and sharing the sacredness of the importance of having our Lord be present in all that they do and are. President Nelson's prophetic that we will not be able to stand without an active abiding faith and the constant companionship of The Holy Ghosts' guidance for protection, he is the very best friend one could ever have, I know this to be true, for sure. President Nelson also said that being a comfortable Christian as was in the past doesn't work for the time in which we now live. So many disruptive oppositions are being imposed on the human mind. Thank you for this powerful music.

Two things come into my mind as I hear this piece of spiritual manna from heaven: 1 - I literally thank God for my beloved mom, who taught me to appreciate good and uplifting music. Never do I hear beautiful music without saying a silent prayer of gratitude for her wisdom. 2 - I thank my Heavenly Father for His Son, Jesus Christ, for without Christ there is simply no goodness and beauty, and therefore no reason to sing. I owe you both, everything. Thank you.

This tune is part of the great composer Jean Sibelius "Finlandia" .Telling the story of Finlands struggle against an invader who wanted to take our freedom. Please listen to the whole konsert.feel the thunder out in the world, the coming of the enemies, the fighting and the sighing from a country in despair and THEN listen carefully to the softer music when you can imagine an army in torn uniforms kneeling in the battlefield praying for help from Above and THEN comes this beatyful tune with comfort and promise of help. You will never forget this tune after that!! The original words are freely translated : O,Finland see Your morning light is rising You see the hostile night is fading out The night is gone again You freely breathe Your morning's braking o Fatherland. We got a country out of many countries It is our home it is our heart so near Here are our roots here our hands are meeting This barren country so dear to us!

This is a masterpiece of Finland's national composer, Jean Sibelius. It is called 'Finlandia' It was originally composed to a symphony Orchestra, and later Sibelius made an arrangement for a choir, 'Finlandia Hymn'. The piece is more popular in Finland than the actual national anthem (Our Land). The lyrics and the theme are about a terror from an aggressionist, and defending of our small, beloved father land, Finland.
