You might have the first reaction on youtube that I can find. From what you said in the vid, you are definitely an old fan who loves their old style. Thankfully, they kept the old style with the new style. I noticed that half the songs, old fans love, and half the songs are what I fell in love with with Heat Waves. For me, I love Show Pony, Creatures in Heaven, White Roses, and Lost in the Ocean with the pop vocals and non-eclectic sound choices. I think Tear in Space, How I Learned to Love Bomb, Wonderful Nothing are tracks for old fans with the heavy rhythmic bass.

One of my favorite aspects of this album is how it calls back to the percussive nature of their debut album which I definitely love! I think they’re very talented musicians and the fact that they put in the work to give it a full band experience was pretty cool. Thanks for your comment.

I really like this review; i got tired of people in comment sections being mad about the fact their music has changed over time. As a musician, doing the same things over and over again is miserable. People change, they experience new things, they want to try new things in their music, and thats exactly what Glass Animals and Dave has done, and i really appreciate you not being glued to the idea theyre always gonna sound like they did in 2014. Expecting that of a band know for being experimental is super unfair. If we did the exact same thing every day of our lives, we'd hate it, and seeing someone sort of get that was nice. Ive been listening to them for about a year, and was very excited about this drop. I dont really like ZABA as much as a bunch of people online seem to do. HTBAHB has some tracks i love, and plenty of Dreamland feels like how im growing up as a teen right now, which makes sense because Dave wrote it about childhood. ILYSFM is fs one of my favorite albums theyve done. The strangeness of zaba was just not my jam, and i love alt pop and indie records like this. They way they talk about love as so many things, and also not over sexualized, is very very comforting to me, esp as a teen lol, cause im just figuring out my life, how to be in relationships with people nonromantically, and how to love. Show Pony and Lost in the Ocean are definitely my fav tracks on the album, but i love the entire first half of this album. Im seeing it live this fall and cant wait. Thanks for your thoughts; just thought id leave mine. ✌️

Surprised to find this is really the only thing on the platform I can find talking about this album so far, glad to see it though! Personally I think with the release of this album is where I have to step back and say I’m no longer a fan of Glass Animals and instead am just a fan of Zaba and HTBAHB. Dreamland was a swing and a miss for me on release, though I at least like Space Ghost on that album and really enjoyed the Denzel feature on Tokyo Drifting but overall that album really failed to connect with me in any way. Hearing the singles for this album as the promos were going around I didn’t really have high hopes and after listening to the whole thing I just couldn’t connect with this one at all either. I feel like they’ve really changed directions on the production and tone they want for the songs but the more ethereal and, frankly simple, production style they’ve leaned into just left me in the dust. I will say I enjoy Wonderful Nothing and will keep listening to that but this is their second project that completely has failed to grab my attention.

I can definitely see why a lot of people would be disappointed in this album as far as the songwriting lacking. However, I’m happy this album at least had a sonic identity and concept it stuck to. Thanks for the comment.
