Retired nurse 2 years, weight got out of hand, depression, procrastination, bad thoughts you don't tend to share, not wanting to wake up in the morning. 90 days carnivore with some dairy stopped my milk at every meal. Mostly a bit of cheese heavy cream. Started for mental health issues caused by other health issues. A few weeks in, I did have sugar withdrawal and my mental health improved greatly. Even better now at 90 days. I love my new look 40lbs lighter, tight 36 jean the stretch type, to 34 waist loose needing a belt. In our community there is a nursing home owned by the United Church very short of nursing staff so yesterday I interviewed for a casual position 2 days a week. I have the skills and most of all I have the energy and mental desire to do so. So we shall see, I will hear from them shortly. I so much appreciated this interview and subscribed so related to his journey on this change in lifestyle. Will be 68 February

I started at 275 pounds. I stopped drinking sugar drinks and lost 25 pounds in a few months. Then I stopped eating sugar and lost another 25 pounds. Then I remembered that carbs were sugar. Did dirty keto and lost another 25 pounds. Sadly I want able to keep keto so I regained 15 pounds. I was able to maintain that weight for years until I discovered carnivore. 1 week in and 10 pounds down.

The Titanic menu tell the story. Also before Kellogg marketed bird food to humans for breakfast, meat and eggs were the choice for the first meal. The last time someone took me to eat out, I told the waiter to give me more steak and less duck food. He was baffled by the term "duck food". I told him that was the stuff that makes you breathe hard and waddle around like the canal ducks!

Dave thank you for your videos. I am a 66 yr old female granny from South Africa where statins are used as smarties are eaten. I am learning so much, because I am a baby carnivore. I am on carnivore for the last 4 weeks, after having been a vegetarian for about 18 years. I am still so scary, because I also stopped my statins after using them for 15 yrs. I have genetic cholestrol, but did not know anything about triglycerides, so I am going to be tested at end of Apr 2024. So I suppose a big surprise is waiting for my doctor when she gets my " very dangerous, cause for heart attacks, killer and blah blah blah." And I suspect that I also am going to get a dooming phone call. But I want to try this diet although I still experience terrible side effects. I am already a very skinny person. I weigh 55 kilo's and am definately losing weight at this stage, but I hope that I 'll only have positive results. Thanks Dave, go on with your videos talking to every day people.

Hey, I don't mean to sound picky here. This is a good guest - inspiring. But his emphasis on exercise is wrong! Now sure, if you're capable of it, it helps - but it is NOT half. Diet is almost everything, and exercise is a distant second. When people put this much emphasis on exercise, they risk misleading others. They might make someone think "I can out-jog my bad diet" - and so on. You can't out exercise carb consumption. it doesn't work. Furthermore, anyone who's obese should be very careful about any physical activity. Even going up steps can be dangerous. Morbidly obese people need to be even more careful. They can recover. But not with exercise. They have to start by dieting. Only after their weight has dropped significantly and they've been building up their body - with the help of a medical/exercise expert - should they even think about exercise. And get professional, expert help! Dave, I realize you can't pounce on your guests. You have to be diplomatic, and you do that very well.

Are eating fatty red meat? We need cholesterol for hormone production (and vitamin D). Also consider adding some ruminant liver for high nutrient density which helps thyroid function. There's also a role of vitamin A (found in liver) in hormone production, as well as numerous other functions. People are scared of vitamin A but it's an essential nutrient that you can't readily convert from beta carotene in fruits and veg (some people not at all) and you don't need to eat crazy amounts. I worked with a functional nutritionist for my health issues and defiencies. He recommended around 300g (petite female) to 400g a week. I split my liver into 50g daily and have it as a side with other meats or chop it fine into ground meat. Also consider supplementing iodine, it's thought were all sub optimal and 50% tested in the UK were deficient. I was found to be deficient, even though I was eating cod fish regularly. Low iodine affects thyroid function, which in turn affects libido. Our recommended levels for supplementation are way too low, they're there to stop serious disease. We can safely supplement what the average Japanese person gets naturally through seaweed and seafood between 1.5mg to 3mg, you need co factors for iodine metabolism - selenium, magnesium, vitamin C. There's Selenium in red meat but a higher level in liver. I supplement 1.5mg lugols iodine daily. There's not a high amount of magnesium in meat and it's chelated out of our water due to water treatment chemicals so I supplement 600mg a day and also take a small amount of vitamin C around 100mg. Although there should be adequate vitamin C in grass fed red meat and liver. Anyway all of the above advice was provided by my functional nutritionist and it has healed me from multiple issues.

@jeffslim9518 have you had full blood lab panel done? There are a great many things that could be going on. It may be related to deficiency in your diet ( like fat, magnesium, salt, iodine) or it may have nothing to do with diet at all. A full panel before starting a new way of eating, then a full panel 3-6 months in. That's the best way, but it would be a great idea to consult with your PCP.
