Another great video, mate. So much truth packed into 12 minutes. Congratulations on becoming a father and balancing it with your responsibilities. Youre an inspiration, man. I think your messages are going to resonate with so many lost artistic souls out there at the minute. All the best to you and your partner and a happy 2024 to your new family.

Massive congratulations. Becoming a dad is definitely the most transforming experience of my life. You're not centre stage anymore and that's fine. The kind of ego death only a truly heroic dose could bring about. Happy New Year, may it bring love and creativity for all.

I think the "rockstar myth" is one of the greatest marketing phenomenons of all time. Let's explore what it truly means to be an artist in today's world. As a first time father of 14 months, best of luck to you and enjoy the ride.

I appreciate this honest conversation. We all have our excuses for not reaching out and being part of the web that is life and art, but my favorite way of dealing with it thus far is when I’m feeling afraid to ask myself “are you being generous right now?” I have a long way to go towards proficiency and mastery in my opinion, but to keep myself from practicing, collaborating or putting myself out there due to fear is selfish, in a way. It keeps something wonderful that I could be and give in the future from this world. Don’t be selfish. Practice. Collaborate. And share.

Children are definitely a step further and need a real "let go". All the best for you and your family and keep sharing. 🙏

Congratulations Brother, it is quite the Journey. Creating a child really opens up the wisdom of the Generations, the past present and future. Blessings on you and your family. And enjoy the rebirth of childhood alongside your little one. They see things with fresh pure eyes and with the awe and wonder in which everything truly deserves to be marveled at. Existence is pretty epic.

"We're not Prince." Be better than Prince. He was successful because he wrote better songs than everyone else. Brilliant songwriting should be your only goal. Try to write better than all of the greats. Reach for the stars and you may just touch space.

I want to thank you. Your words always resonate so deeply. After years of learning classical music, I've just started writing my own music. I still don't really know what I'm doing but I accepted the challenge and your words empowered me quiet a few times. Calming down those worries and self doubts. Blessings from Germany

None of us really know what we are doing. Especially with songwriting. It is so experiential and fickle. The process is the goal. Repeat the process, finish the process and begin again. Here's a great quote from author Neil Gaiman. He told fellow Author Gene Wolfe that he'd "learned how to write novels" after finishing American Gods. Gene replied --- "You never learn to write a novel Neil, you just learn how to write the novel you are on." I think this holds true for songwriting! All the best. Thank you for the kind words! ♥️

Slowcore post-pop riff-metal really is the only decent genre worth playing, though... Dude, congrats to your family! I'll be paying attention to you, because I want to have a child within a few years as well but the idea terrifies me. Keep inspiring us to create and i'll promise to pass it on too

I had so many different thoughts going through my head when I found out I was going to be a father and quitting music wasn't really one of them, but I knew I couldn't put that kind of time into it any more. My boy is now 14 and I'm still writing and recording songs(when Im not at work, baseball, track or his drum lessons, lol)

Although I understand where you are coming from here, given a choice between doing it as a hobby playing whatever I want and being in an abba tribute band an teaching I will take the hobby route every time

Hey what’s wrong with ABBA!?!? Haha no I get it. That’s totally valid. It’s why I quit doing weddings. But I wouldn’t trade the experience of it. Even towards the end when I was rip-your-hair-out tired of playing all those top 40 covers I knew how good it had been for my musicianship and perspective. It’s the kind of job with a hard shelf life. You gotta do what you gotta do to keep your love alive, even if it means saying no to a crazy payday. ✌️✌️❤️❤️
