My greatest challenge is keeping my dog off my lap while sewing!! 😂 Seriously though, finding room for my ironing board is a challenge. I have a very small sewing space and I’m always bumping into my ironing board.

My sewing space is in my laundry room. Space and organization is my pain point. One day I will have a room for just my crafts. But for now I am happy to have children still at home and a small space.

I have a couple of thoughts: what about an ironing board/surface that folds away against the wall, and maybe mounting your filming light boxes on pulleys from the ceiling so they're off the floor (then just lower when you need them in place). In the blank corner I could see a decorative chair & side table with a lamp to relax, read, and listen to music from, with the crate shelves wrapping from one wall around the corner to the next wall...like 3 on the left wall, then 2 on the right on a level above the left wall and stack the 2 that meet in the corner, creating interest because the crate openings point in 2 different directions. Add a third level with just one crate, IDK! You'd have shelf space plus wall space to hang art and doodads! What a cool space to decorate and work in!

My biggest challenge is my husband encroaching into my designated space. I gave him a shelf and now he’s taken over 1/4 of the room

What a great creative space for you Sarai! I can see a mini sofa and small table over by where you may put some shelving. I can't wait to see the completed project.

My sewing space is in my family room, while the room is large it is cluttered and it causes stress. I am working on making it neater and more organized. Thinking about your lighting how about hanging them. You may not want to buy the equipment at this time but a swing arm may make it easier to move them out of the way and not take up floor space. I do love the idea of a space that is just for you.

A swing arm is an interesting idea! Thanks for that suggestion.

I'm setting up my sewing space too. I have some wooden crates that I painted with chalk paint that I use as flexible storage because I can change the configuration. I also have a hard time figuring out where to set up my ironing board as I prefer to leave it up so it's ready to use. I'm curious what size the shed is so I can get a comparison to my space. Thanks and I'm looking forward to seeing how you put it together!

Have you considered a folding screen to hide your lights/film equipment- it could double as a private changing area when you are sewing and need to try on... for the ironing board- i use one a made from a board, lots of tutorials online, and it lays flat on my cutting table when i need it and can slide behind the cabinet when you don't. also you can make it nice and big! Love your dreamy space!

Could you drape a colourful pretty fabric over your lights to make them look prettier when not needed?
