I met Tim once not even knowing who he was. He was so easy going and never talked about himself. We spoke about regular life topics. It wasn’t until someone said “hey man, did he teach you anything or tell you anything interesting?” I said he told me LA has changed so much and isn’t a place for everyone. After I learned who he was, I thought wow, he’s a regular guy that puts his pants on like all of us. Well, except for the fact that his pants are made from gold records…. I love this channel and I don’t even play the guitar!

@@MS-Patriot2 lol snob detected. I haven't messed with a single parameter in my modeler of choice in a long time cuz I had set up a good preset right from the get go. Only tweek one of 2 knobs for like 20 seconds depending on the acoustics of the place I'm in at each time, which is the same for real gears. In fact I have more time to practice than regular tube amp users cuz I don't have to wait for the stupid tubes to warm up, let alone constant battle to find a sweet spot on the volume or the drive knob. Just plug, turn on, I have the good tone I had set up like 8 months ago right then and there and just practice along. The fact that you think modeler is endless tweeking tells us nothing but you don't know what you are doing in terms of making your tone.

The most important quality for my own gear is RELIABILITY! If I am going to use a modeler to replace my amp(s) on stage, it had better always work. I've had Line 6 products, and most recently a TONE X pedal. The Line 6 stuff was pretty reliable, but the TONEX stuff was just plain "junk". Three pedals out of three shipped to me were defective, with the first pedal was OBVIOUSLY defective. If that amount of attention (or serious lack of) is given to the obvious, how much less attention is given to the unseen components and software. The idea of having less stuff to haul to a gig is very appealing, but if it's not reliable, it's not going to work. If I can't make quick changes to settings on the fly, I don't want it. If it's going to take me weeks to become familiar with the technology ... I don't have time to waste. My regular gear (extremely downsized from my gear in the 70s) is reliable, sounds GREAT, is reasonably portable, and you don't need a manual or endless tutorials to use. I don't need several hundred amp and speaker options either. Just a few, and let my playing dynamics take care of the rest.

It's great to hear your take on seeing all the modelers as tools in the cabinet. I think the reason many people disrespect things they don't prefer comes more from only being able to justify owning one. They want to believe they bought the best, or still have an incredible product even if it's not the most expensive. It's easy to fall into the trap of arguing for the one you chose when you can't afford or justify the expense of the others.

Bought mine not long after launch day because as a previous Helix and QC user I thought it sounded much better and had a much easier to use UI. Almost every KZitemr and KZitem comment section never failed to tell remind me what a overpriced hunk of junk it was, how inferior it was to other products and how buying one made me a fool. I still love it, use it every day and don't regret it all. Glad you like it Tim.

This is lots of fun Tim and fun is a key element of your channel. I like what you said about each tool having its own value. I’ve been running the Tonex with my Tonemaster FR10 speaker and it sounds amazing, but I wanted some effects and didn’t want to build a full pedalboard or go down the full HX stomp rabbit hole. I got the Pod express which sounds really good and I’m looking forward to seeing how I can use them together. Would love to see you do that too! Lol

While I still love a good old fashioned pedalboard and tube amp, I'm also a big lover of the digital modellers. I've used the Line 6 gear on bar gigs and theatre shows for a few years now off and on with great results. Your video here with the Tone Master is the best one I've seen so far. Why? Because you know what the modelled fx sound like in their analog counterparts. This is why all these presets you have shown sound killer. I truly believe the lack of this type of in depth real world knowledge for many novice players is what discourages them with modellers. They expect great results just by turning the unit on but don't realize some manipulation is required with the fx's, amp & cabinets settings...just like you would with a real pedalboard and amp. Well done Tim!

Tim does an incredible job running the TMP through its paces. I'd love one, but it's so far out of my budget that I have to come down to Earth and say: 'Do I really need this?' and have to respond 'no'. That doesn't make me want it any less though.
