Jenny, This is my story about overcoming adversity (and how compassionate, thoughtful, doctors save lives and end misery), for you, anyone who needs a boost today. For context, I have Cerebral Palsy and use a power wheelchair,. So I rely on others for a lot of help with personal care / life stuff, which can be extraordinarily stressful.. I'm also in law school. And I wasn't coping well with all the demands on me. I started having panic attacks in my second year. My first panic attack was during an exam, and it was so severe that it caused an episode of Transient Global Amnesia (talk about scary and confusing shit). A month after that, my boyfriend of 2 years dumped me in a FB message. I was blindsIded and heartbroken. I was 27 with no previous psychiatric history, and all the sudden I was incapacitated with anxiety and depression. It was extremely difficult to find the right medication because my (injured) brain is very reactive to SSRIs. But eventually, a great psychiatrist, who was willing took take a second look, and understood how much I was suffering, despite my appearance of being articulate, "normal", self-aware- found the right drug for me, and I started to get better. I also did months of exposure therapy to be able to function, and write exams again. But it worked. I thought I was going to have to drop out, and give up on being a lawyer, when I'd been working toward that since high school. But a year later, I'm back in school, half way through my first post-disaster exam season. And I'm on track to be on the dean's list. So yeah, don't give up. People are most often stronger than they think, and you are amazing. -Danielle

All I can say is welcome to motherhood. There's ups and downs. Things go right and wrong. Your a mom and a doctor it's hard to keep a house clean. Don't feel bad if you need to take time for yourself. I do it when I need alone and need away from life. If you need to take a break from vlogmas, do it. You are an inspiration to many and show medical school is possible. I know your my inspiration. I'm here if you need to vent to another mother and I don't judge. So whatever you need to vent on or let out, I'm here for you!

I’m not in med school but I was a full time student once, after my first year I found out I was pregnant. Finding out I was pregnant was a blessing what I wasn’t expecting was to also be diagnosed with Lupus at the same time. It was my last semester of the first year and I was determined to get through even though I was in the hospital majority of the time because of my Lupus complications. I now have my healthy baby and I’m going back next year to school as a a full time student. It’s life we have to go through tough times to know and enjoy the good ones. You’re a tough mom, wife and doctor! There’s so many of us viewers that look up to you.♥️ blessings to your family!

You probably won't see this, but I wanted to thank you for all of you videos. I recently applied to medical school and have two toddlers at home...my chances of getting in are slim (only 4 medical schools in my area) and I feel embarrassed to even tell people. I've been told I am having a mid-life crisis for wanting to be a mother and physician. Honestly, I have been feeling overwhelmed with just the idea of balancing both. But people like you encourage me to keep going. Anyways this comment is WAY too long lol. I just wanted to say thank you!

it's not a mid-life crisis. I suspected that too. I know now everyone is on different journeys - some people spend their YOUTH in med- school. Some spend their mid life in it and some wanna do it for their retirement! Well so what? Maybe they are telling you that bc they are jealous? Idk.

So great to see such an honest post. Social media so often fails to capture the hard work going into people's success and only shows the end result. Really helpful to remember that when you have ambition, the journey will be difficult and no one finds it easy.

This is my first comment, I watched this video TWICE so excuse my fangirling. I just wanted to say that I love how genuine and wonderful and beautiful you are. Because this had to be said. I'm an IMG and you are goals, truly you are. I loved your OB/GYN videos too I want so bad to be a good obgyn doctor. You are my role model I hope you know that. Being a good doctor and a mom and a wife, it's hard but you give me hope that it can be done. And you've got the most adorable little bundle of motivation too, I love Whyatt'as clips. I wish you the best of luck. This felt like a talk from the heart and I truly appreciate you getting personal, I know it can be hard. But I want you to know that we don't take that for granted so don't even bother with the editing. I'm here for the awesome content. Here's hoping you have a great vacation.

Omg you are my favorite now!!! I am a mom of 2 girls, My 2 year old and my 5 month old. I just turmed 24 in December and the day before my birthday I finished my Bachelor's Degree in Criminal Justice from CSUF. Right now my goals are to lose weight, get CPR training, improve my typing skills and do a short program to prepare me more and be more professional. Anyways, I looooved how you said that you like to reward yourself after accomplishing something.. just like me!!! It would feel so good finishing a task and knowing that something great was waiting upon the finishing of our "goal". Mine were simple such as the birth of my baby girl in July, the birthday of my 2 year old in August, my boyfriend's bday and my family's bdays because girl with two babies it was a little challenging trying to plan something big lol. I would lie if I say everyone could do it, but it's a motivation within and knowing that our careers are awaiting us!! Happy New Year and may your year be full of Greatness!! 🍾😊🎊

I'm in Canada. I applied in October. Waiting to hear back about interviews (in January). It is really competitive here. 1/10 chance of getting an interview and if you get an interview you have a 1/3 chance of getting in. Also, there are only 4 schools in my province and my grades aren't stellar. Was thinking of applying to the States in June (dual citizen) but they require English and won't take my graduate thesis as a substitute :(.

Thank you so much for this!! It's funny because I was in psychology class and my professor was speaking to us about motivation and how it can push you to become a better person by the day. So now, I have two people telling me this. I'm starting to think it's a sign 😁 I also want to say that I'm in my finals week and I have been overwhelmed with all the courses I took this semester- Specially biology. I've taken that course twice already and I've been feeling down because it feels like I can't do it. This video made me realize that no matter what happens around us, if we keep pushing forward everything should be able to fall back in its place.

Keep going Jenny. I've lost almost everything in the world and get ganged up and used against my will by some of the cruelest people in the world in NYC. The only thing that keeps me going is a few people in medicine. The residence, medical students and an Japanese origami art therapists. There kind enough to take some time out of there schedule to answer some questions and share their experience. The Caribbean medical schools get put down all the time but, when push comes to shove there scores are sometimes better that Ivy league medical schools and there students know what it's like to be the underdog. The residents and students from those schools care, cause they sure aren't doing it for the money. Those are the people we want in Medicine. I'm older and have more experience than some but, I also hurt from the attacks by some cruel gangs. My dreams matter and so dot the dreams of others. I'm not alone. We need Jenny Le and people like her on the Internet educating and in medicine.
