He made millions and millions of $$. If you really think about it, he didn't write the songs or arrange them, he is not a good guitar player and used mostly the so called "wrecking crew" on all of his recordings and isn't a great singer but made millions. He had great material, great musicians and background singers on his records, great marketing, great producers, good looking (still) and an okay live performance. After travelling with him in the 70s as a roadie, I can say you'd never think he would be under rated. Sold out every show in every city.

@@EJ-tm1fe To agree he didn't get out of the 60's, I'd have to forget about charting releases like 1) "Rockin' Pneumonia and the Boogie Woogie Flu" (1972), 2) "Blue Suede Shoes" (1973), 3) "Help Me Rhonda" with Brian Wilson singing backing vocals (1975), 4) "Swayin' to the Music (Slow Dancing)" (1977), and 5) "Curious Mind (Um, Um, Um, Um, Um, Um)" (1977). Moreover, his (admittedly 60's) version of "Midnight Special" was used as the theme song for the Friday, late night, music/variety series of the same name. That series ran through most of the 70's into the early 80's.

This song is always on my set list. Johnny Rivers is an amazing artist, and contributed greatly to the American sound of the late 60's and 70's. Friends of mine who know him personally tell me he was always a perfect gentleman. Although a country boy from Lousiana, he made his way to Los Angeles and became leader of the house band at Gazarri's on the Sunset Strip, which was the first real rock club on the west coast. And we have him to thank for introducing Jimmy Web to Capitol Records, who used that material to bring Glen Campbell to international stardom. A seminal artist, I really love his work !

We are the same age, 80 now, and back in Junior High school I occasionally heard a couple of guys playing for change on one of the main downtown street corners in Baton Rouge. One of them was, I learned, Johnny Ramistella. Being a musician all my life, I listened and liked what I heard. Simply raw, unpolished talent. Why do I cry watching these videos? It’s like watching someone get an amazing gift that they didn’t even know they wanted.

Hi India, As always you're doing great. So much music from my youth. I've followed you as a subscriber from when you had less than 50,000 subscribers. Now you're at 133,000 subscribers. I'm looking forward to seeing you get to 150,000 by the end of May, 2020. You are so successful because you are genuine and love the music you play. Keep up the good job your doing. I used to comment more but now I just enjoy the music and your reactions. Oh, I thumbs up too.

Listening to this song by Johnny Rivers from 1966, makes one appreciate the fantastic production he had on his songs- great arrangement. (strings/back vocals)

I love Love Johnny Rivers, that voice and his musical arrangements. I remember when that song came out when I was in high school. He was my first real heart breaker singer/song writer. That song still brings me to tears whenever I hear it, so much going on. I loved your interpretation, you totally get what this song is all about. He wrote it and I believe it was his first big hit. Glad you love him too “ Tracks of my Tears” also gets you right in your guts and heart too and his version of “Baby I Need Your Loving” … forget about it, no words to describe, just listen if you have not already. Thank you !
