Well said Courtney. As photographers we are all striving for that portfolio shot, the perfect shot. As you said most of the time we fail at producing that. In fact putting all that pressure on ourselves actually pushes us to probably produce sub par work. The less pressure we put on ourslves and just let it flow I think the better chance we give ourselves to create something we'll end up being happy with.

Feeling the obligation to be good at it like a pro is a huge barrier for enjoying this lovely hobby. Furthermore, if I can capture hundreds and hundreds of shots, one or two is sure to come out nice. That's good enough for me for showing to friends and family members. I don't need to present myself as a heavyweight to customers because, I don't have any customers. Ever since i started following you, I've noticed that you are too harsh on yourself, photography should be fun, even when failing just enjoy the moments and learn. I've recently tried to go on a "kingfishers hunt" and everything went wrong! I left work that day late, the bus to the place I wanted was late, and by the time I arrived there was less light. I did find few kingfishers, but not the one I wanted, the common kingfisher! While I was strolling around and decided to put the camera in my backpack since no light left, when I just was about to do that I saw a kingfisher sitting in front of me right there! Took a photo, dim one... When I edited it later, I realized it was pretty ok photo and it indeed was the common kingfisher!

@@distomos8118 That's a fair appraisal. My photography started in 1979; in those days there were very limited opportunities to share work. So it remained a personal exploration. Depsite sharing widely these days, I'm fortunate to be able to retain a persepctive on how and why I make images. Implicit pressure to share and gain recognition in the digital age must cause so much frustration to creative people finding their way and developing under the glare of public spotlight. 😊👍

Perfectionism can ruin not only your photography, but also your life. Real life is never perfect. I used to worry about getting the "right shot" back in the pre-digital days because of the cost of prints. Now I just keep taking shots and toss all but one of them. Keep at it. You are really good and you have a great area for photos. By the way, after seeing this, I subscribed to your channel.

@@CourtneyVictoria from a big picture point of view, your videos are great and your sound quality is really good. The high wind thing is something we all struggle with (as pro sound mixers) when doing outside video shoots sometimes. Keep up the great work and you’re welcome! 😊

Sometimes it's best to stop trying and just live life. People always seem to never be sure who they are , yet certain of who they are not !!!. My point is simple we are living in a state of flux ,change is inevitable. Someone told me that our character is best defined by" who we are when no one is looking." Definitely the way to understand yourself is to be yourself. To become a butterfly I found I had to stop being a grub. Life is for the living. I love art in all its forms. I was told art art school that photography was not an art form. Now they teach it at university as one of the Arts. To be honest the best thing I could say , is just think about what you are doing (a little meditation after on what happened in your day) . This works for me , to try to see myself as others see me only makes me wonder what was going on in their head. So don't confuse your life with someone else's. Most book writing requires editing . So live your own fairy tale because no one else can . They just like to think they can 😊

we should always strive to do better, but perfection is (at this point in time) not obtainable, it'll just wear you out trying to get it, i think it's a good idea to stop trying to get perfection out of something, photography is such an awesome thing, because it literally doesnt need to be perfect to be amazing, the most iconic photographs of all time are usually not perfect. your photos can look great without being perfect imo, sometimes i actually try and make mine look less than perfect if what i'm trying to show with the photo isnt supposed to be perfect. great video, i enjoyed it a lot :)

After nearly 45 years of photography, I can tell you with 100% confidence young lady, that perfection does not exist. It would be a futile effort and a waste of life striving to achieve something that does not exist. I shoot what I want, when I want, how I want , and with whatever I want, 36MP Nikon D800, 20 MP EM1 MKII, my Wista Field 4X5 field camera, or my Hasselbald or Pentax 67.
