There's been times I pondered about the viability of swapping in a Duramax into one of these half ton trucks. I'm genuinely curious about this project, looking forward to seeing more! Definitely look into installing a limited slip rear diff for this truck, assuming it doesn't have one already. Due to the short wheelbase and most of the weight sitting over the front tires, these trucks will lose traction so easily. That's with a stock motor, too, an LB7 will be insane.

This is awesome. I had an 84 K10 6.2L diesel that we purchased in the fall of 88 for $6000.00 w/21k miles on the odometer. Dealer told us he was pretty sure that it was 121k as the owner was in construction and drove it from job to job. In April of 89 my job at the time took me to McCall Idaho. Was told to be there Monday morning at 7:30 on a Saturday before. Myself and another guy left out at 10:30 that Saturday night and drove over 1900 miles non stop in that truck. It had the twin 20 gallon ranks and we ran between 70 and 80 all the way to Idaho stopping every 800 miles for fuel. The diesel ran flawlessly and we averaged 24 mpg for the trip.
