GD Melk Do you think that is the whole reason they killed him off in such a disappointing way. They had this whole set up of Ackbar flying the ship in the supremacy and then coming to the realisation that his name is Ackbar. So they quickly made a replacement character for him and just killing him off in the background. In any case I still like Admiral Ackbar better with his 3 minutes of screen time than Vice Admiral Holdo.

@@2bebothered I hope you're joking but if not then you've missed the point of a Mary Sue or Gary Stu. It is about a character being able to do things with no explanation and being able to do everything better than everyone else, with no real character flaws or room to grow. Luke was shown on many occasions learning to develop his skills with the force, he could hardly move the lightsabre at the beginning of Empire without tremendous concentration. He got beaten by vader and lost his hand. It was only in Return of the Jedi that he could beat Vader. And even then he stilll didn't match up to the Emporer on his own. He started of as a whiny little selfish runt at the beginning of a New Hope and ended up as a confident, compassionate character by the end of the trilogy. Rey has not been given that opportunity to grow as she has remained mostly the same. Another example I would give of an overly powerful character who can do everything is Tony Stark. I dislike his character for similar reasons, in that he has to be the one to do everything better than everyone else.

SPOILER ALERT: There's one moment in the film that honestly made me laugh at loud at how ridiculously bad it was: when Rose kissed Finn. If Finn had decided to sacrifice himself for the sake of saving the resistance, I believe it would've made for a pretty good character arc. But instead, Rose flies in (seemingly out of nowhere) and kisses him, suggesting that she saved him purely for romantic reasons, but then says something to the effect of "we need to save what's important". The camera then literally shows the resistance bunker being blown wide open in the background, and it's assumed (at least in that moment) that every last rebel is about to die. How the fuck is that "saving what's important?" What Rose says in that moment is so purely contrary to what is shown in the next camera that it seemed like an actual parody of itself. Idk I didn't feel like the movie was that much of a mess as some people believe, but this was one of the moments that kind of stuck with me as purely, comically, horrible.

Yeah they are all over the place. People really seem to be missing the point. What's worse is that many of them seem to be saying things along the lines of "it will go down in history as being _____" as if they can somehow predict how people will react to it in a decade. I came out of the movie with almost an identical impression of it as IHE did, minus a few details. But according to many this means I am stupid and that I don't understand movies or plots. There certainly are objective, though hard to define, meausres of quality when it comes to art and movies. But the people who I have talked to who *hate* the movie are not expressing their opinions in good faith, but rather to brow beat me into disliking the movie using fallacies. This happens a lot with hype culture, be it video games, movies, books, or any other kind of media, and it is really frustrating.

@@ruifigueiredo5486 What is any of that meant to indicate? I am pretty sure Luke has given up in the myth of the Jedi. Luke also saved way more than 5 people... and in the moment the needed him the most. That's the new hope. When Obi Wan died, it was similar, it was a mere distraction to Darth Vader to save Luke, Han, C3PO and Chewbacca. This to indicate a death does not have to be grand to be noble, the momentary flux can be as important as the carefully planned over years. Perhaps Luke would have had least impact in a long drawn out training of Jedi, of which he already did and lost faith on, having produced Kaylo Ren. And to be at peace with both his believes and help the people, not the ideology, he beliefs in, it would make sense to go out in the same way as his master did.

This is not my only opinion on the movie. But I am very sad that nothing has been learned over the years. If you do a star wars movie, it needs to hold water for the extended universe. Because that is what star wats is. An extended fictional universe that is evolved by a literal army of creative people. The diefication of the force, the lightspeed ramming. These have MASSIVE impact on the internal logic of the universe that hinders an extended universe. Just talking about the lightspeed ramming, every space battle needs to be avoided until some creative explanation is created to not devolve every space battle into a kamikaze fuckfest. All the other points are moot in comparison to these two plagues on the fictional universe.

The thing with Snoke is not that he was an interesting character or really even had the potential to be one, it's more that he is directly responsible for completely invalidating the actions of the rebels in the OT, he is directly responsible for turning Kylo to the dark side, he is the primary antagonist of this new series and leading force of the First Order and we have no fucking clue who he is or where he came from. This creature just materialized into existence in order to manufacture conflict, and rather than the writer doing anything, even something new and interesting not tied at all to the previous movies, he did nothing. This thing accomplished more off-screen than when the movies bother to actually start and it leaves you to wonder what the fuck the point even was of including him. I've seen a lot of people compare Snoke to the Emperor in the OT which is fair in that they're both in about the same position of power and neither receives much backstory, however there's a problem with that. Star Wars was an entirely new universe when we first saw the Emperor, he had no connection to previously established characters until the prequels came out so we didn't need to know how he rose to power, it didn't affect our emotional stakes in the movie. Like we didn't need to know how Fire Lord Ozai rose to power, we got hints of that anyway but it was not needed and more for Zuko's character arc than his. Snoke's identity and how he got so powerful actually matters because this is a sequel, it's a direct continuation from where the OT left off and it's a massive gaping hole that refuses to be answered because of Abram's mystery box shit and Rian Johnson's apparent spite for people who like Star Wars. It gives the impression that Luke, Han, Leia, all of the rebels who we saw fight and grew to love as characters were ultimately foiled by no one of consequence.
@Obi-Wan_Kenobi
6 жыл бұрын
Exactly. Star Wars has a big, sprawling lore established world by this point. We expect to know how in only 30 years every single achievement of the rebels and the jedi was essentially erased and how a new dictator just rose to power. It also threatens to make the entire original trilogy meaningless. What's the point in fighting and what was really accomplished if some nobody with no backstory can just show up and plunge the galaxy into basically the exact same state of war it was in 30 years ago.

From what I can gather there are quite a few supplementary books out now that bridge Return of the Jedi with Force Awakens and which explain how the First Order organized itself and slowly began to regain power while the New Republic was ignoring evidence of that being the case. The most interesting part in all of it is that it says somewhere that Snoke didn't actually create the First Order, he at first only helped them survive in the Uncharted Territories of the galaxy, then slowly but surely established himself as their leader. He was therefore always just a force user who saw the opportunity to gain power and used it. He has no further use for a backstory. As said in the video, if not for the prequels it's the same situation as with the emperor. And the downfall of the New Republic mostly happened because of the same thing that happened to the Old Republic too: deeply rooted corruption, in this case brought on by remnants of the Empires power structure and senators which where secretly bribed by the First Order. Snoke wasn't even truly responsible for it. This of course doesn't answer everything, but I'm sure further supplementary work will do the rest. If I'm honest I can't see any better solution than Snoke being unimportant in the grand scheme of things. All the fan theories I saw felt horribly contrived for me and would have made only for a convoluted story. I can see why people are upset about this, but I personally don't know what Rian Johnson could have done about this. If anyone is at fault here it would probably be Abrams, but I won't even judge him on it before we see the last movie of the trilogy.

Matt Rogan well I mean if you had a trilogy where it set the structure, then have another by a different company that goes in the wrong direction and starts having stuff like, making the protagonist woman for the sake of being woman, and giving her ultimate powers for no reason and not being able to fail, of course people will start to get pissed. Obviously there’s a point where people complain too far... there will be people that take it too seriously, but even Mark and Lucas didn’t like where it was going so it is a bit understanding. Some people just heavily didn’t like how they ruined their franchise

I remember I wrote a comment saying how much I liked the movie. Someone actually responded "What kind of disease do you have?"... Yes folks, that's the level we're on. Since then, I don't care about negative comments regarding movies. I enjoyed it, as simple as that. One of the many wonders about filmmaking is how movies can have a different impact on people. We're not robots. Everyone can have his/her opinion. If you hated TLJ, I'm totally ok with it, but comments like the one I mentioned make me lose faith in humanity...

Yep and it is those type of comments that make me ashamed to be a fan at the moment. Yes and there are people who are vitriolically defending the movie as well. In the comments of this video. There are people who are bashing the older films just to make this film seem less shit than it is. People will openly mock you for having a differing opinion on the internet because it's anonymous and the entire goal is to piss you off because you can't do anything about it. You are essentially complaining about the entire internet but framing it as people who hated the last jedi are the perpetrators. If THIS comment made you lose faith in humanity then you should probably consider living on an island drinking blue milk straight from the tit of a scrotum stretched over a giraffe.

These people need to actually watch the video, I mean, I bet the majority of the comments were written without putting actual thought into it and they were obviously made before the entire video was even finished. I'm not going against people who hate the movie/s, but rather the ones who are mindless and purely immature when arguing with their points. They seem to pick up details that barely make any logical sense. One is the "hah IhE is forcing HIS opinion xd" argument, which is completely wrong, IHE already stated in the original video that whether you hate it or love it, he wouldn't mind, as long as your opinion would actually make sense and would not be full of bullshit.

I actually find it really interesting that you point out many flaws from the original 3 movies. Everyone acts as though they're perfect but in reality they're clearly the best but they too have flaws like any other media. The emperor specifically (as you yourself point out) is a nothing character in the originals and it's the prequels who flesh out that character. Amazingly Ian McDiarmid has played all incarnations including the upcoming one. It's a good example of something positive from the prequels. Ian McDiarmid really is the best part from them lol. I hate how everyone acts as though the universe has to be so god damn rigid when the "Star Wars" aspect of a Star Wars media is just a way of telling a story.... they people who treat the universe like it can't be bent to the will of the narrative (within reason) piss me off because THAT'S the reason it's so easy for Star Wars to be so derivative. I couldn't care less what the force can or can't do, how much damage a lightsaber can do, the speed of travel, the damage any one ship can do to any other - it isn't real just set it up and execute it - it doesn't matter.

People are giving Rey shit for being a Mary Sue when Luke deflected blasterfire blindfolded the 3rd time he turned the goddamn saber on, and Rey hasn't even done that yet. They were nitpicking the physics of the bombing run saying bombs won't fall downward in space when they had tie bombers in Empire doing just that. They whine about the First Order not being able to pick up on ships coming and going from the one they're tracking but forget that the Millennium Falcon in Empire literally hid from more than 2 star destroyers and a squad of tie fighters by parking on the backside of the bridge of a star destroyer after flying up in its face really fast. They complain about the Canto Bight stuff and attempts at humor cutting in when they shouldn't be while Empire has a mangled C3PO whining in his prissy voice interrupting the ASTEROID CHASE on the Falcon and complaining for levity while strapped to Chewie's back during the FIRST DUEL WITH LUKE AND VADER and the RACE TO SAVE SOLO. They complain about Snoke dying after only 2 movies and seeing him in person in the 2nd one only but that's exactly what happened to the Emperor. They complain about TFA being unoriginal when most of the first Star Wars was lifted from older movies like Dambusters anyway. This shit isn't new. I just wish people would let themselves enjoy the damn movie rather than trying to find more enjoyment in tearing it apart with scrutiny that the original trilogy would NEVER stand up to either. I can't stand the comment section on any Star Wars video or any social media post anymore because there's always a gaggle of idiots trying to take pot shots at the sequels somehow, even when they aren't mentioned. People were making rumors and articles and commentary videos and flying them EVERYWHERE reporting that people walked out of a test screening of The Rise of Skywalker early because they hated it when test screenings hadn't even goddamn happened yet. Both feminists and anti-feminists have a tug of war going on with the Mandalorian saying it's feminist propaganda while the other side says it's not feminist enough and is another male power fantasy. I don't think there's been a shittier time to be a Star Wars fan in any regard.
@nilktots6380

Its fine if fantasy equals turning off your brain but understand that a lot of people arent nitpicking theyre bringing up inconsistencies within the universes own set up rules that take them out of the movie. a lot of things happen in this movie that we are told is what would happen despite everything shown being to the contrary. He aimed at the base instead of the ship for no reason, that ruins all tension, Yoda can use lightning from beyond the dead and now there's no good reason not to have them interfere. It goes beyond "oh lightsabers would actually require a batteryback bla bla bla" its "none of this makes sense what is even happening i cant follow or invest in the story"
@nilktots6380

@@PANICBLADE The bombers arent dumb because theyre unrealistic, lightsabers are unrealistic in a way that you would only know about if you were more into physics and engineering.Kylo's lightsaber by comparison has an obvious flaw that alot of people cant just "ignore and enjoy". They have better bombers and the bombers are shown to be so fragile and slow that i cant even think of a way that they would work in universe even by their rules. Also fans know about tie bombers and they also know about the y wing bombers but they work different, they shoot energy torpedoes. Its as nonsensical in a real world sense but they move faster have more viability withing the story's own rules that i can believe characters would use this instead of the Holdo maneuver The Emperor was rarely seen but they built up him up as an unseen powerful puppet master and his story was completed in the third movie instead of being aborted, he had luke at his mercy until vader betrayed him breaking his control. There was more there to complete the story than "oh he died Kylo wanted power and hes dead" His death also leaves the First Order's origins unknown to the point im confused about the situation even after the films. Star Wars took elements from many movies but they weren't 1 for 1 remade. It would be like saying something like Gundam is just star wars if they had a father son villain dynamic taken from it and is just as unoriginal as TFA. Not that TFA is bad imo it was bland but it did it's job in making me want to see what happens even if it was derivative and a bit mindless I dont think Rey should be called a mary sue because that takes away the focus from poor writing and makes it more about her gender but your defense is weak he deflected a bolt, she is lifting giant bolders, shooting three tie fighters down at once, beating luke and teaching him instead of the other way around levitating, beating kylo twice three times if im being uncharitable, deflected palpatines lightning when luke didnt kill the emperor or stand a chance even. I mean come on So yeah sorry some people have standard for films and dont just mindlessly consume, sorry some people dont accept a million out of the blue developments with no logically build up and cant just go "well story said hes the strongest but it said she beat him here but now it says hes the strongest and i should be scared oh now story says something else"

@@nilktots6380 With the bombers, they held way more firepower than the typical Tie Bomber (one payload from 1 ship took down an entire cruiser, and while an X-wing took out the Death Star, it is the exception that proves the rule), I expect them to move slower, and the people piloting them are expecting to return alive. The Resistance fighters are not Kamikazes. If they have to die it makes sense to carry out the mission but there's a huge difference between intentional suicide and a last resort. The movie worked really hard to emphasize that theme and punished Poe for carelessly sending people to their deaths, Finn was scrutinized later for the same. Holdo and Rose's sisters sacrifices had different contexts. The A-wing that hit the bridge of the super star destroyer is a perfect example. "Well why don't they all start flying A-wings into Star Destroyer bridges?" Also Holdo's sacrifice has several forseeable factors that make it not viable for every ship to use, especially ones that relatively small. Your example about Yoda and the lightning also falls into the same category. If Yoda is strong enough to lift an X Wing out of a swamp, why doesn't he ride on Luke's lap to Cloud City and crush Vader while backing up Luke? Obi-Wan said if he was struck down he's become more powerful than he could possibly imagine, but if all the ghosts can do is talk to people and show up every now and then, isn't that a lie? A huge inconsistency from the outset of the entire series. Kylo's lightsaber is fine, you don't need a background in physics to understand why a lightsaber is more dangerous to yourself than your enemy, and why using it to deflect lasers is on a surface level, stupid. It's not a shield, it's a sword. If Jedi always use their power for defense like Yoda said, why not a shield? Even the gungans had shields in Phantom Menace, the first movie in the timeline. Kylo even uses the quillions for offensive purposes as well as defensive purposes. He trained to work around it and use the design to his advantage. Plus, just looking at the lightsaber, it's unstable, dangerous, has exposed pieces, it's reflective of his character and is a bigger part of the story than just a tool he uses. The Jedi should all be using blasters if the focus is on efficacy. Luke didn't deflect the Emperor's lightning because he threw his lightsaber away and refused to fight his father. He was taken off guard. He also survived the lightning for a long tim. Rey died from deflecting the lightning and needed Ben to give up his life to save hers. Rey beat Kylo once when he was shot by Chewie's crossbow and had his arm cut and after killing his father which was a deed that "split him to the bone." They didn't fight each other in TLJ, maybe the struggle for the saber counts but that ended in a tie, I guess she woke up earlier? Every fight between the two in Rise of Skywalker was either not concluded, with Ren trying to get her to join him and with her trying to kill him, or on their last fight, Ren was the clear winner, only hesitating to deliver the final attack because his mother intervened, which made him surrender and Rey attacked him with his guard down. Luke shot down 2 fighters his first time in the gunner seat of the falcon too, and then he you know… took down several more fighters and blew up a space station the first time he flew an X-wing. Luke was also doing handstands and moving rocks around while training with Yoda, it was his disbelief that held him back which is a problem Rey doesn't have because she is confident in the Force. Luke was anxious and sought capability, Rey's anxiety stemmed from her lack of understanding of herself and her powers. According to Yoda, there is no difference between moving something small or big, it's only in your mind. Also she never beat Luke. Watch the fight again. He humiliates her, toys with her even, despite the fact that he had been severed from the Force for like a decade. The fight ends when she takes out the lightsaber and he gets startled and falls back. He then goes on to be completely correct and her going to meet with Snoke and get Kylo to join her and end the war backfired, which led to Kylo's reign of terror that lasted years and resulted in countless deaths. Despite this, Luke came back to make sure Rey and the Resistance could escape. When Luke needed help, Obi-Wan literally left him hanging. He still succeeds where his master's couldn't. Also, in Star Wars, the apprentices have ALWAYS taught the Masters as well, hence Yoda mentioning the burden of masters. Obi-Wan and Yoda deliberately lied to Luke to manipulate him into killing his own father for the good of the Galaxy. Luke proved them wrong by redeeming his father and showing them where the previous generation had come up short. He even mentions to Rey about the hubris of the Jedi leading to their downfall. This actually explains a lot that the prequels didn't make obvious, that the Jedi were not perfect altruistic good guys and that Anakin might have had a point when he said that from his point of view the Jedi were evil. The First Order's origin is as nebulous as the Empire's origin. To this day I have no idea what Palpatine offered the Trade Federation that they would employ everything they have to serve his will. He made so many decisions that put himself in his own way of political advancement that I lost count. The clone army being commissioned is still shrouded in mystery in regard to the core movies, as is where Palpatine comes from as he seems a relatively young native of Naboo. The prequels never bother providing this context when that was literally what the prequels were supposed to do. If they weren't then that means that there is SUPPOSED to be this air of ominous mystery around Palpatine, like how IS he doing this? I can more readily buy that he's been on a lost planet using clones and resources to build armies much easier than I can something like "Lord Sidious promised us peace" being the only stated reason why he would have the Federation wage war against his own Republic while pulling strings years prior to give the Republic an army that he could eventually use to overthrow the Jedi even before having come across Anakin, who I can't tell if he knew about his existence or not with the whole Opera house scene. It's always meant to be vague and always has been in any trilogy. It mattered less in the originals, the prequels dropped the ball. This movie at least gave him a planet and a legion of clones of himself and followers, I can buy that he would have something like this ready to go after decades of preparation. It paints him as this ancient being working from a remote place, and considering the clones, makes his manipulation of the galactic Senate more plausible rather than one guy mind controlling everybody. It opens up the possibility that there was a clone or emissary of Palpatine's behind every seat of the republic Senate, which makes his line to Windu even more meaningful. The movie doesn't spell that out but it leaves the possibility open at least.

@@PANICBLADE 1. the Bombers are posited as being more powerful and we're told they expect to live but theyre shown dying in very very easily for how slow and impractical they are, it somehow doesnt even work with in the own movies rules. Its like they took the real world effect of using these ships and just put that into the movie instead of writing in any reason that we can see why they would use them instead of having y wings try and deliver tons and tons of loads of ammo instead of metal coffins. They dont fly A wings into things because they don't want to die and because it flew into the bridge. iirc they even mention the possibility of the Falcon ramming the star destroyer and thats why they didnt notice it flying and hiding on their own ship so its a thing with clear limits and clear means of combating against or for 2. Being not dead and being able to access the entirety of the force's knowledge is pretty pretty powerful. Besides Yoda would have to fight against Vader still and Vader would have sensed Yoda and probably either have been strong enough to attack him or just decide to blow up Luke and cut his losses. The only real inconsistency is why Obi Wan doesnt gather hidden intel for the Rebels but even then we dont the exact working of force ghosts. You can get away with "cant upset the balance by interfering" with very very small things not when they interfere with giant lightning bolts to destroy physical objects 3. I mentioned possibly not counting the last fight between them because she wins because of a distraction but still thats 3 wins and ties and 1 kylo almost win at the end where it doesnt even matter because the suspense was ruined before hand. Again Rey can be as powerful as they want just need to write a story around that instead of letting powers break them. I count the Luke Rey fight as a clean win because luke foolishly threw away his weapon and apparently has no way to defend himself with the force. Its weird that the old character has more weapon skill but less skill in the force and foresight, Dark siders also are stronger with pain, even referenced in that very scene. Luke killed two fighters total in his first fight, Rey killed 3 in a single shot. Luke also almost died in his death star run and had help from obi wan, again not trying to start a pissing contest between rey and luke im talking more how the writers write suspense around the two characters. Rey could be an actual goddess if the story challenges her (without disrespecting the previous stories of course). Obi Wan also specifically warned luke he couldnt help and had reasons for it including being dead and not wanting him to go for very good reasons, luke on the other hand should have helped far earlier than he did 4. the main point of the prequels was literally that the jedi had massive flaws, its integral to anakins story arc. Also yoda and obi wan still have good but flawed reasons, Look at "only a sith deals in absolutes" if you dont think about it the sith tap into the darker side of humanity so it seems reasonable but it is still an absolute disproven by the fact the order failed anakin before he failed it and was later redeemed. luke just decides that since the good guys have some flaws that means his family and friends are sol and on their own in the face of pure evil massacring planets. its not the same thing at all 5. Youre misunderstanding me, when you watch the OT the Empire and Rebels are mysterious but we have a foothold that makes sense, the Empire are the government and keep control with a large army gathered from their worlds, they used to be a Republic before the fall. Its vague but it makes sense and we know who they players are and their relationship to one another. In the sequels the First Order are ....... a paramilitary group I guess, remnants maybe? But they make clear theyre not the Empire iirc? the Resistance is ..... not part of the Republic and the Republic does nothing and has no army and is ..... destroyed? Reeling after Starkiller? I dont know its very unclear vs the simplicity of the OT. The prequels have a similar problem with the blockade of unknown to the audience supplies immediately causing a space age planet sever collapse and the Trade Federation are for some reason following a Sith. Btw the Sith arent explained but they dont need to be along with the Jedi theyre mysterious and their current motivations are clear

Damn, the comparison of Last Jedi with MGS2 is a really bad comparison. MGS2 is ambiguous, has real plot twists that are hinted during every part of the game, and shows alot of respect to what came before. Last Jedi is the exact opposite of that.

I generally don't care whether someone likes or dislikes the last Jedi. All these fan groups who try and change the opinion of others is ridiculous. I disliked the movie for my own reasons, but that doesn't mean I'll go and bash someone who actually liked it.

Vulcan Joe totally ridiculous... Nobody is allowed to bash another person for their opinion. Look, if I met Hitler, I would be like, "hey man that's your opinion, do what you want, who am I to stop you?"

A lot of people claim to be doing this, but without realizing that they are actually stating their criticisms with the film as objective flaws, and then playing the white knight saying that they are just stating their opinion. Stating your opinion on the film and describing your dislike with the film as objective, fundamental, film making flaws are not the same thing, and most people who don't like the film don't get that.

I like this movie but it has problems. Here’s me being fair: What I don’t like: 1) Snoke and Phasma were underused. We should have fleshed them out a bit more, to have their death hit ya a bit harder. 2) Poe is pretty annoying, and he was just facepalmingly dumb and I felt he should have been more tame. 3) Th casino is pointless and I felt it should have been cut out. That would have helped the pacing and long runtime. 4) Rose’s scene at the end. It felt out of place even though I’m glad Finn didn’t die. Other than that, she doesn’t bother me. She may be pointless, but her scenes are pretty adorable. Alright here’s the stuff I like. 1) Luke’s arch is beautiful. He didn’t need to go or in a light show. His death was gorgeous and I teared up a bit. Also, he didn’t try to kill Ben. He thought of the idea and immediately regretted it. 2) The filmmaking is gorgeous. The visuals, CG, and acting is spot on. 3) The scene with Yoda was 💋. 4) Rey and Kylos relationship is unique and Kylo is easily one of the most interesting characters in the saga. See? There’s good and bad. 7/10. Also, for people saying it lingers to the SJWs, grow up. There’s no problem with saying that women are strong. My problem is when it’s forced. But it isn’t in these movies.

There is a problem with giving characters powers they don't deserve or didn't earn. NOBODY has a problem with strong women (Ahsoka, Leia, Mon Mothma, Jaina Solo, Mara Jade, Bastila and Satele Shan, Padmé, Asajj Ventress).

wtf. Poe was the only one in the film who constantly made the right decision. he was right to destroy the ship, he was right to mutiny, he was right to launch an attack on the cannon. Poe understands loss of life is inevitable during war and made a sound tactical choice in destroying the First Orders most powerful ship, a ship that would have blown them all up 10 minutes later after following them through hyper space. Leia could have called back the bombers herself but decided to wring her hands instead then blame Poe and accept no responsibility for deaths she could have stopped. if anything Leia should have realised she isn't fit for commanding as she can no longer bear the weight of her decisions costing lives and given command to Poe after realising he made the right call. Holdo's plan was terrible and almost resulted in the death of everyone. she had no reason not to tell Poe of anyone else about the plan. by wanting to be the smartest person in the room she lost the loyalty of the crew and their trust that she would keep them alive. Splitting up the fleet and launching the transports in different directions would have completely avoided the need to trap themselves in a bunker. Poe's plan wasn't as good as this but still better than Holdo's and would have worked if not for DJ knowing information he couldn't possibly have (since neither Poe, Rose, or Finn knew about the cloaks). he was belittled for making the right decisions to the point where he second guess himself and the plan to destroy the cannon, which also would have worked and was the only viable option.

I would have tolerated you disagreeing and I'm not against the SJW, but you're the immature one here for telling them to grow up if they consider a Mary Sue a Mary Sue.

Literally all star wars protagonists have been good at flying. Rey is actually the only one with reasoning behind her. Anakin was 10 years old, had never flown and blew up an entire space station, because chosen one I guess? Luke wanted to fly, so he did? Also blew up a space station. Rey had a flight simulator, her life depended on her knowledge of ships/speeders/vehicles, she's repaired and built entire ships alone and with 2 friends, who even offered her to leave Jakku but she declined because of her parents. What did she do? she avoided 2 tie fighters. "I've flown ships before but I've never left the planet" "I can do this, I can do this"

You probably never watched the movies in depth have you or maybe at all judging by your comment. Anakin got called out on that by the fans they tried to demarysue him next movie which they did for better or worse. Luke-has a real reason unlike her he flew a ship that has the same cockpit as a x wing and shot those types of shots before he also needed to be saved by han when shooting into that hole. There's heaps of scenes saying his a decent pilot. Also he doesn't any stunts he just goes straight and fires. Rey-flew some ships and has been on a simulation. The Falcon is notorious to pilot and pretty much needs a copilot to fly decently. It's not a easy to use ship like the x wing. She fucking flew the Falcon through a destroyer and lined up shoots with the broken turret while doing this.

What do you mean real reason? How is Luke flying a similar ship and eventually destroying the death star better than Rey having flown prior ships as well as a flight simulator along with ship knowledge in order to even get food? If you watch the movie, she's clearly struggling lol, constantly pressing more things that Han does, questioning herself and more. She doesn't do any stunts, she turns the engine off and then on. special skills there really. Also drop the arrogance mate, come on.

You should go back and watch ANH again. Even Ben Kenobi living as a hermit in BunfuckNowhere, Tatooine has heard of Luke being a skilled pilot. Going to the Flight Academy is shown as his main motivation and his main beef with his uncle at the beggening of the movie. His skill is well stablished a bunch of times and integrated into the film well before he even gets into a ship. Rey, as far as we see in the actual film, spends the bast majority of her days scavenging to get a miserable amount of food. How can someone with such a life become an ace pilot? It's ok if she knows how to fly but she has no business doing all the bullshit she pulls off. And no, I don't care even a little bit about supporting material. I just care about what I can see in the movie. And I don't see any hint of her being so good at the wheel. Also kid Annie was bullshit and bad on his own right but at least hewas the literal Chosen One and gets rekt in later movies.
@garmr2512

It's better because 1.They actually establish that even through it's a hard shot anyone could actually do it with out the force 2.The ship is easy to use that farm boys as a few of lukes friends are there. Biggs Darklighter for example 3. Luke needed to be saved by han solo 4. There was no advanced pilot moves done by luke. He flew straight just like the other pilots that attempted it before him Also rey flew into a fucking star destroyer and through it's tight inner body is a stunt. The whole fight was less believable than anything luke did when he first piloted the x wing. Nah mate you either didn't watch the first starwars movie in depth and acted like you did or you are dishonest and spread misinformation on purpose for a agenda. Pick one.

Viktor Ceder Flying a ship pretty much like an X-wing then being able to pilot an makes sense. Especially when Luke's only job was fly down a trench. Doing flight simulators for one type of ship then flying a decades old ship with completely different equipment from what you trained in does not. Her struggle was at the start when she was trying to get a ship to immediately start that hasn't flown in years and is under fire with no shields up. Her questioning herself is again in the beginning. Throughout we don't see any mistakes in the actual flying. Even the turn the engines off and on required perfect timing and coordination. Had she nose dive to soon turning it back on would have caused a crash. Had she nose dive too late they would have been picked off. That stunt did require more than turning the engines off and on again. Not to mention using the ground to drift around a corner.
