You know you’re a master storyteller when you can make your audience feel genuine empathy for a zombie.

If you see the short webisode Torn Apart it is even more so as it covers her story.

You know what made this scene so great? You actually felt bed for the zombies. Most of the walkers are just disgusting man-eaters and we fear them (we want to kill them). Here, I felt genuinely sorry for this woman.

Tie a personality to every walker and the walking dead becomes an even more depressing show; take away the sound and you will understand.

I'm a 52 year old woman. Just saying that because my avatar looks kinda masculine. My boyfriend and I used to really be into Lost. We'd watch it together every week. Then it ended and we were like, "now what do we do? " Anyway, he started watching V. I tried watching it with him but was bored. It got cancelled. Then he started watching TWD and I asked him what it was and he told me it was about people in a zombie apocalypse and I thought that sounded like something for teenage boys so wasn't interested. Then one week they did the thing where they show all the eps up until the current one and so I started watching it from the beginning with him. Within the first couple episodes, I was hooked on it too. I'm not interested so much in the gore part. I love it because it's about this group of people who are in the most horrific circumstance and they want to not only survive but are also wanting to maintain their humanity in a situation where they have to figure out what the rules are in doing that. They are always questioning themselves as to if they are doing the right things. Sometimes they have had to kill humans and even if it was totally justified in self defense, they still worry about if they did the right thing and what they may be turning into. The title "The Walking Dead" is not in reference to the zombies. It's intended as reference to the people, to the living people. Andrew Lincoln, who plays Rick, said in an interview how the show is about one's humanity and that if the writing got stripped of that and it just became torture-porn, he would stop doing it. I like this show because it's about how these people try so hard to love and care for each other in the middle of a nightmare.

Your comment reminds me of season 1 where Glenn mentioned that the walker they were about to butcher so they could wear its innards as camouflage amongst the other walkers was an organ doner when they looked at his wallet.

Depressing how this show started off so good and promising then lost its simplicity when they got to season 7. They kept adding to much stuff and going further from the comic. It went more downhill by season 9 through 11 after they killed Carl...
