I love this concept. Imagine how many great business ideas are out there, but nothing happens with the idea. It would be way cool to somehow act on that good business idea, create a business cooperative and to then later be able to walk away from it once the cooperative is up and running. Now your idea is reality, an actual business, that could live for tens or hundreds of years.

Charities are not necessary if your society is not broken, your worker co-op plan is a much better step in the right direction. Also consider branching out into products that may not be 100% sustainable but your version reduces waste and saves customers money by removing planned obsolescence. Such as light bulbs built to last as long as possible, or printers that don’t break and have refillable ink cartridges.

Absolutely, lets get rid of "planned obsolescence"

There are two classes, the working class and the ownership class. I applaud you for stumbling into being actually progressive through just wanting to do the right thing. I'm here because I can't stand working for others anymore... I'm entirely alienated from my labor, and I just can't do it anymore. Anywho, is your website up and running?

Thanks for checking out my latest video and joining me on this journey to start a worker co-op. We have a lot of work ahead of us. I'll do my best to cover all the major highlights and other interesting/helpful things I learn along the way. Enjoy!

Good luck on your jouney. Some friends and I were considering forming one a few years ago. We ran into issues about governance and pay structure issues with certain members of our team. A few others thought it was too big of a risk for a concept that did not seem to have a lot of support yet. I think if there was more data out there, it would be far easier to advocate for it

I hope your co-op is doing well. It will be good to see your co-workers and their opinions. I found you doing research about co-ops. Exactly because I have an idea about a sustainable business, a social responsibility business. I know that there is more people concerned about inequality, environment and unemployment and I believe cooperation not competition is the solution.

Thinking about starting a sort of worker co-op related to web/mobile app design in React. I recently started freelancing and am trying to get my sister and little brother into it. We're all coders with me being the only one having finished my computer science degree. My sister dropped out and has been unemployed for several years now and my little brother is still in school for computer science, but looking for something to make money. The structure I'm employing is a bit different than that of a traditional co-op. Essentially, we would either all work together and get paid the same in like an assembly line fashion (my sister does front-end, I do some or most of backend and advertising, and my little brother does database and some backend) or we work separate and they pay me a small cut for advertising.

Any thoughts on the best way to find people to join? And especially how to vet people? My concerns are power grabs (e.g. cliques forming, destructive ways of discussing, etc), very different vision (e.g. steering away from ethical, sustainable vision), handling turnover. I have these concerns as I'm just a group of one person at the moment and am interested to start a worker co-op for something in engineering or tech, a space that seems to have a lot of competitive type working models which people may be overly used to

You should look into marxism (if you haven't already), it will truly grant you a thorough & deep understanding of the organization of capitalist economies & markets. Just remember that there has been a violently anti-communist movement for a long time to spread the idea that socialism isn't possible. The world bank & unicef's own statistics show that socialism provides a higher standard of living with the same rate of economic growth to their capitalist counterparts 93% of the time. Co-ops are essentially socialist organization under capitalism &I hope to start one some day! Best of luck to you, comrade. Love your desire to better the world & side with labor rights & ethics over centralized profit.
